Abstract

This study identifies the underlying factors contributing to child stunting and poverty among Indonesian farmworker households. We use logistic regression and the Indonesian Family Life Survey to measure this study. The findings indicate that social and demographic factors significantly influence poverty among farming families. Families with more farming businesses and land ownership are less likely to be poor. However, there is no significant link between agricultural productivity and child stunting. Positive factors for child nutrition include exclusive breastfeeding for at least two years and a father's higher education level. In contrast, older maternal age and larger household size increase the likelihood of child stunting. The study highlights the importance of social and demographic factors in addressing poverty and child health in agricultural settings. Parental education and breastfeeding practices play crucial roles in preventing stunting. To address these issues, policies should focus on educating parents about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and early childhood nutrition. Supporting farming families by increasing agricultural productivity and land ownership is essential. Developing targeted nutritional programs for children in larger households and those with older mothers can help prevent stunting.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Macro-prudential Intermediation Ratio (MIR) as an instrument of Bank Indonesia's macro-prudential regulation on Non-Performing Assets (NPA) as one of the banking industry performance indicators in Indonesia. In addition, this study also examines several other independent variables such as bank assets as an indicator of bank size, Bank Indonesia interest rates (BI rate), and inflation as macroeconomic indicators and their effect on NPA. The NPA, MIR, and bank asset data used in this study consist of 109 commercial banks operating in Indonesia during the period from January 2015 to December 2020. This study uses an Ordinary Least Square (OLS) analysis approach by undertaking classical assumption tests and statistical tests. The results show that (1) MIR, bank assets, BI rate, and inflation simultaneously have a significant effect on NPA (2) Partially, bank assets have a negative and significant effect on NPA while other variables including macro-prudential policy have no significant effect on NPA (3) Variable MIR, bank assets, BI rate, and inflation can explain variations of NPA variable by 34% (4) Larger bank size encourages prudent financing and reduces NPA.

Abstract

In recent years, the muslim majority countries’ focus on women’s labor force participation has grown, particularly Indonesia which stands out with its high female labor force participation rate. We aim to shed light on the relationship between religion and work decisions in Indonesia, employing data from the World Value Survey and utilizing logistic regression analysis. Our findings reveal that active participation in religious activities positively affects muslim women’s likelihood of working part-time and in the agricultural sector. Through the results, policymakers and relevant stakeholders can consider leveraging religious organizations as potential channels for promoting women’s labor force participation.
