Abstract

The documentary film is considered as a proper audio-visual medium for documenting traditions, but it has both advantages and challenges. Both issues explained in the paper based on the experience of making a cultural event documentary film of the Gamkonora people (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCewhQOaNOk). This annual tradition held on the first day of every Eid al-Fitr by the Gamkonorans who live with other ethnic groups in West Halmahera Municipal, North Moluccas Province. This film is relatively effective in raising Gamkonoran identity awareness among the people, compared to language documentation in the form of a printed book or digital which requires a long process that spends much more energy. It is implied through comments on movies in social media and several films which produced spontaneously by young Gamkonorans through Youtube channels. In addition, discussions about the existence of the Gamkonora people are also present on social media such as Facebook, both in Ternate-Malay and Gamkonora languages. Besides the claims of documentary film effectiveness, it requires considerable preparation. Firstly, Gamkonora research team has done two years field researches and has done long discussion with movie crews before and after footages taking process. A researcher who took the role as a leader should have a storyline which is understandable by the film crews to guide them during footage takes. Another thing that should be done before is maintaining intensive communication with the four villages leaders of Gamkonoran (Gamkonora, Talaga, Tahafo, and Gamsungi villages), tua-tua adat, and key informants. Overall, among those complex processes, the most crucial aspect is deciding Dodengo as the tradition which touches every single Gamkonoran heart since it not only expressing their annual tradition, but also identity. It hoped that they realize how crucial their identity and they should do something to continue their existence. Thus, the documentary tradition of an ethnic group is a powerful medium to convey the message of their existence among the society that contains challenges, from the process before, during shooting, to the editing process to get the final result.

Abstract

Awareness about the decline of various ethnic cultures in Indonesia has been the government concern since the New Order era (1966-1998). Towards the issues, the Indonesian government has done more concrete actions, i.e., cultural revitalization, including local languages, which began in the second year of the First Five Development Year (Repelita), the 1970s [1]. The same source further explained that there were five main activities to carry on, including (a) language standardization, (b) language socialization, (c) translation, (d) language and literary research, and (e) development of language agents and information networks [1]. Interestingly, (a) the condition of the local language in Indonesia, (b) the shifting factor of the language, and (c) the language revitalizations that have been done are various. The paper will discuss two cases of minority languages revitalization in Indonesia, namely Betawi and Lampung. Both languages are interesting to review and compare since they have the same characteristics: they are the language of minority ethnic groups whose environment is the center of migration of various ethnicities since the Dutch colonial. The massive development of Jakarta has displaced Betawi people to the suburbs, such as Depok, Bekasi and Tangerang (Shahab, 2004: 20). As a consequence, the existence and the role of the Betawi language, which is considered a dialect of Jakarta, is now being eroded (Chaer, 2017: 160). Meanwhile, the Lampungnese region has been the first transmigrant location in the colonial era from Java island, 1905. Currently, Lampungnese is around 11.92 percent [2] of the entire population in the Province and the younger speakers have shifted to Indonesian/Malay. This desk study examines various literature, previous research, and policy papers to present findings regarding the latest report on language revitalization carried out. One of the efforts to revitalize the Betawi language that has been carried out is building Betawi cultural villages in Condet and Setu Babakan [3]. However, the high number of mixed marriages and the dominance of Indonesian made it challenging to transmit local language between generations since younger generations speak Indonesian more often. On the other hand, the Lampung provincial government has made efforts to teach the Lampung language from elementary school to university to produce Lampung language teachers. Unfortunately, the efforts that have been done have not shown better results since younger Lampungneses are more fluent in Indonesian better than Lampungnese.

Abstract

The Qur'an as a source of universal knowledge for Muslims contains in-depth discussions about every aspect of life, including problems related to human personality. The Qur'an often refers to aspects of human psychology with the term nafs (soul). This proves that the Al-Quran plays a positive role in shaping human personality, apart from being an antidote to mental illness (syifa). Humans were created by Allah SWT different from other creatures, such as angels, jinn, animals and plants. This difference is what gives humans the opportunity to become perfect humans or the worst humans. This year is the time for Muslim scholars to rely on the revelation of the Qur'an to see humans as multidimensional, both physical and mental (spiritual) and not to be haunted by non-Islamic theories that tend to solve problems. The spiritual element in humans has a strong connection with God. It is not enough for humans with their different dimensions to only be considered empirical, but must consider all their dimensions, both physical and mental.

Abstract

The implementation of training programs aimed at students, instructors and the school community while at the Islamic boarding school is the main subject of this research. The program efficiently promotes healthy lifestyle choices such as quitting smoking, washing hands with soap, eating healthy snacks, exercising regularly, eliminating mosquito larvae, and disposing of trash properly. Through a variety of techniques, including discussion, debate, practical exercises, and assessments, the program effectively disseminates knowledge and ensures that it is put to use. Santriwan are considered agents of change who promote good behavior and advance public health. In summary, this study highlights the effectiveness of training programs in improving scabies prevention and highlights their potential to serve as a model for broader public health campaigns. More than just spreading knowledge, the project's primary goal is to promote behavior change by giving Santriwan the tools they need to make healthy lifestyle choices, have a positive impact on their environment, and improve the overall health of the community.

Abstract

The first verse in Surah Al Kautsar contains the many gifts from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his people. God has given so many great blessings that humans cannot count them. The second verse explains Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, who commands humans to pray and perform sacrifices. In Ibn Jarir's history, the second verse of Al Kautsar's letter came down during the Hudaibiyah War. At that time, the angel Gabriel came down to earth to give the wakyu of Surah Al Kautsar verse 2 at the command of Allah. In Surah Al Kautsar verse 3, people who hate the Prophet Muhammad are called abtar people. They are a group of people who are cut off from the goodness and grace of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

Abstract

The modern era of globalisation has fostered the importance of foreign language learning, where the need to communicate across cultures and participate in the global job market is increasing. This research uses the literature review method. The results show that globalisation has connected countries around the world, making it imperative for individuals to master more than one language to maintain competitiveness and relevance in the global market. In addition to economic benefits, learning a foreign language also contributes to personal development, such as improved memory, problem-solving ability, and individual creativity. However, learning a foreign language also presents various obstacles, such as time constraints, difficulty understanding new phonetics and grammar, and cultural barriers. The lack of exposure and practice with native speakers can compound the process of achieving fluency. To overcome these challenges, strong support, access to effective learning resources, and utilisation of modern technology and innovative methods are inevitable. Technology provides interactive platforms and educational resources that ease the learning process, making it more flexible and affordable.

Abstract

Iron is one of the most widely used metals in industry. This study was conducted on the performance of inhibitor compounds in rimbang leaf extract against iron corrosion based on several theoretical approaches. The method used is Density Functional Theory (DFT) with the basis set B3LYP/6-31G. The parameters obtained from the optimization results are EHOMO, ELUMO, dipole moment, and total energy so quantum chemical parameters were obtained in the form gap energy (ΔE), electronegativity (χ), ionization potential (I), electron affinity (A), hardness (η), softness (σ), electrophilicity (ω) and nucleophilicity (ε), adsorption energy and bond energy. The calculation results showed that fisetin, alpha tocopherol-beta-d-mannoside and benzene,1-(bromomethyl)-3-nitro- were the most effective inhibitor molecules compared to other compounds. The interaction of inhibitors with Fe (110) crystals seen from the adsorption energy (Eads) and binding energy (Ebinding) shows that among the three best compounds contained in the rimbang extract alpha tocopherol-beta-d-mannoside has the lowest bond energy of -200.13 kJ/mol and the Inh-Fe bond length value is 1.84 Å. The bond energy and bond length values show that the interaction between the inhibitor and the Fe molecule is a chemical interaction.
