Abstract

The importance of awareness of fire risks in the community, especially at airports, encourages the need for effective prevention and countermeasures. Community service by lecturers of the D.III PKP Study Program through this training aims to provide knowledge and skills to the community of airport service users, especially workers in tenants, regarding how to prevent and overcome fires. Involving the Tri Darma Perguruan Tinggi concept, this training not only touches on aspects of fire prevention but also discusses fire phenomena, risk analysis, emergency response, and fire management. It is hoped that training participants will benefit them through increased knowledge and understanding that can increase awareness of fire risks so that the community around Soekarno-Hatta International Airport can be better prepared and trained in dealing with potential fire hazards.

Abstract

Aviation safety is an important part in the world of aviation. One form of aviation safety is preventive and mitigating actions in the event of unwanted things such as a wildlife hazard. Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan is an airport that has a strategic geographical position, namely the presence of forests and the sea in the south and west areas. This geographical location is the main trigger for the entry of wild animals and bird attacks at the Sepinggan aerodrome, Balikpapan. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is the need for short-term and long-term actions such as checking by personnel who have received special training, coordinating with related units, and compiling and producing report data according to a predetermined format.

Abstract

In the activity of providing air traffic services, the Pontianak Approach Control Surveillance unit has implemented ATC automation. One of them is the coordination carried out by ATC personnel between the APP unit and the Tower unit. The coordination uses a system called free text. The free text system can facilitate the ATC coordination process, especially between ATC personnel from the APP unit and the Pontianak Branch of the Perum LPPNPI Tower unit, because it can reduce load of communication. However, the SOP of Perum LPPNPI Pontianak Branch has not yet found a procedure regarding standardization of words to coordinate using this free text system. This study aims to form a standardization of writing words in the free text system between Pontianak Approach Control Surveillance and Pontianak Tower. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study suggest that there is a need for standardization of words to coordinate using the free text system between Tower units and APP units at Perum LPPNPI Pontianak Branch.

Abstract

This study evaluates the role of water sprinkler systems in airport fire emergency plans, as well as the related protocols and risk mitigation measures. Airports have a high risk of fire due to the presence of aircraft fuel and refueling equipment. The water sprinkler system is a key component of the fire suppression system that works automatically to detect and extinguish fires. This study uses a literature analysis method to evaluate the effectiveness, reliability, and efficiency of sprinkler systems in protecting airport infrastructure and passengers. The results show that water sprinkler systems are highly effective in early fire detection, preventing fire spread, and protecting airport assets. The protocol evaluation emphasizes the importance of compliance with safety standards, proper design and installation, and regular testing and maintenance. Risk mitigation measures include regular inspections, the use of backup fire detection systems, clear emergency procedures, and collaboration with firefighting personnel. In conclusion, if properly installed and managed, water sprinkler systems can significantly enhance safety and protect airport assets from fire threats.

Abstract

Pelatihan Pertolongan Pertama (First Aid) bagi personel TNI AU di Pangkalan Udara Atang Sendjaja merupakan bagian dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan personel dalam menangani situasi darurat medis. Meskipun personel telah memiliki dasar pengetahuan tentang keselamatan, pelatihan ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mendalam dan keterampilan praktis dalam Pertolongan Pertama. Pelatihan ini mencakup prinsip dasar pertolongan pertama, pengelolaan luka dan pendarahan, serta resusitasi jantung paru (RJP). Metode pelatihan melibatkan ceramah, diskusi, dan simulasi praktis, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan personel dalam menghadapi berbagai situasi darurat. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, yang tercermin dari perbandingan nilai pre-test dan post-test. Kesimpulannya, pelatihan ini berhasil memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kapasitas personel TNI AU dalam menjaga keselamatan di lingkungan kerja. Pentingnya pelatihan ini terletak pada peran personel dalam memberikan pertolongan pertama yang efektif sebelum bantuan medis tiba secara signifikan dapat mengurangi risiko dan mempercepat pemulihan korban.

Abstract

Aviation safety is the concern and responsibility of all parties, not only in theory but also in practice, through a continuous process of identifying hazards, managing risks, and meeting performance expectations. Safety Management System training is mandatory for all aviation personnel as stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia PM No. 62 of 2017 (Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 19) concerning Safety Management Systems. As a unified implementation of the important pillars of the safety management system, participants are expected to be able to prioritize risks based on severity, manage risks, find potential risks with minimal effort, carry out records and audits, and neutralize possible consequences. Therefore, this training will introduce methods for identifying potential hazards. Community Service Activities (PKM): Introduction to Hazard Identification Methods and Tools for the Implementation of Safety Risk Management are carried out online through an online meeting application, namely Zoom. Participants are PPI Curug alumni and SMS experts who already have SMS competency certificates, totaling 219 people. Through PKM and PPI Curug activities, it is hoped that they can provide useful skills and training for participants, as well as experience for participants and the lecturers themselves.

Abstract

This research is urgent to ensure that the Arrival Message Engine, which is separate from the Main ATC System, can send ATS Messages automatically. This was deemed necessary to do immediately to back up a bug in the Main ATC System, which caused several Arrival Messages not to be sent. The method used is the research and development method, meaning it is a scientific way to research, design, and test the validity of the product that has been created. Research and development has four levels: researching without testing, testing without researching, researching and testing to develop existing products, and researching and testing to create new products. A product has been produced in the form of an arrival message delivery automation system that automatically sends arrival message data to the AFTN message network and can run well per the user needs assessment in this research. It was proven from the design validation results that the test results were 100% and categorized as very feasible, as well as from the system test results using the Black Box method. As a continuation of this research, a warning and monitoring system for sending ATS messages is needed when a failure or anomaly occurs in the main system. It is hoped that this research can be considered for use in operations as an alternative facility so that it can support activities related to handling ATS messages or flight data processing systems in flight navigation operations.

Abstract

Dry Chemical Powder (DCP) merupakan komponen penting dalam sistem pemadam kebakaran pada kendaraan Foam Tender yang berperan krusial dalam mendukung keselamatan penerbangan di Bandar Udara Jenderal Ahmad Yani Semarang. Salah satu permasalahan yang sering terjadi adalah penggumpalan DCP akibat kelembaban di dalam tangki, sehingga mengurangi efektivitas pemadaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membuat mini prototype sistem pengaduk otomatis berbasis Arduino yang dilengkapi sensor kelembaban YL-69 untuk mencegah penggumpalan DCP pada Foam Tender. Sistem ini bekerja dengan mendeteksi tingkat kelembaban di dalam tangki dan secara otomatis mengaktifkan pengaduk apabila kelembaban melebihi ambang batas yang telah ditentukan. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa prototype dapat bekerja secara efektif dalam menjaga DCP tetap homogen dan siap digunakan kapan saja. Inovasi ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan dan efektivitas kendaraan pemadam kebakaran dalam menghadapi situasi darurat di bandara.

Abstract

Aviation safety is a crucial aspect that must be safeguarded, particularly in addressing the potential risk of fires in airport areas. To enhance personnel preparedness, an intensive training program on foam-based fire extinguishing agent testing was conducted by faculty members of the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Study Program, Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic of Curug, in collaboration with the Airport Authority Office Region V Makassar. The training aimed to equip ARFF personnel with both theoretical understanding and practical skills in evaluating foam quality to ensure its effective use in firefighting operations. The program employed a comprehensive approach, integrating theoretical lectures, demonstrations, simulations, and hands-on practice in testing various parameters of fire extinguishing agents. The outcomes highlighted that key parameters—such as expansion ratio, drainage time, and resistance to fuel contamination play a significant role in determining firefighting effectiveness. Furthermore, the importance of regular equipment maintenance and the utilization of the latest testing technologies was strongly emphasized throughout the training. Through this community service initiative, it is expected that the competence of ARFF personnel will be substantially enhanced, enabling them to respond more effectively to airport fire emergencies, thereby reinforcing the overall national aviation safety system.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas rancangan media informasi berbasis barcode sebagai upaya edukasi penumpang mengenai prohibited item di Bandar Udara Kalimarau Berau. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya tingkat pemahaman penumpang terhadap aturan barang bawaan yang diperbolehkan maupun dilarang masuk ke dalam kabin pesawat, yang berdampak pada antrean pemeriksaan dan potensi konflik dengan petugas keamanan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan penumpang dan petugas, serta dokumentasi terhadap proses pemeriksaan dan penyampaian informasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar penumpang belum memahami ketentuan barang bawaan dan mengalami kesulitan mengakses informasi terkait. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, dirancang media informasi berbasis barcode yang ditempatkan di titik-titik strategis terminal, seperti pintu masuk, area check-in, dan ruang tunggu. Media ini memungkinkan penumpang mengakses informasi secara digital melalui ponsel. Implementasi barcode dinilai efektif karena memberikan akses informasi yang cepat, mudah diperbarui, efisien secara ruang dan biaya, serta mendukung digitalisasi pelayanan bandara. Namun, tantangan masih ada terkait kemampuan penumpang dalam menggunakan teknologi, sehingga disarankan adanya kombinasi media konvensional dan digital serta pelatihan bagi petugas untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kepatuhan terhadap aturan keamanan penerbangan.
