Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of journalistic language use in the online media Batamnews. The research data source comes from news published in the June edition of Batamnews. The data studied are words and sentences contained in the news. Data collection techniques used include documentation and hermeneutics. The data analysis technique applied is content analysis, which is carried out through the stages of reading, analyzing, describing, and concluding the forms of journalistic language use in the online media Batamnews. This study aims to describe how journalistic language is used in the media. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method, in which the researcher acts as the main instrument, assisted by a data analysis guideline table. The results show that there are 21 news items in the June edition that do not fully comply with journalistic language rules. This nonconformity is found in the aspect of the use of short and concise language, straightforward, clear, and populist.

Abstract

This study examines a published short story that has received the best award among other short stories selected by Kompas, and the short story "Ihwal Nama Majid Pucuk" by T. Agus Khaidir is rich in character education values. The purpose of this study is to conduct an in-depth description of the various character education values contained in the short story collection "Ihwal Nama Majid Pucuk" by T. Agus Khaidir. This research is qualitative and uses descriptive methods. The instrument used is the researcher himself, supported by an analysis guide table that helps the researcher summarize the data obtained. The data in this study are in the form of dialogue excerpts or sentences from the Short Story Collection "Ihwal Nama Majid Pucuk" by T. Agus Khaidir, which consists of 20 short stories. The data collection technique used to obtain research data uses listening and note-taking techniques. In this study, the researcher uses qualitative analysis techniques, which means data processing techniques used to understand complex phenomena. The steps in analyzing data are presenting the data to be analyzed, grouping the data and concluding related to the character education values contained in Character Education in the Short Story Collection "Ihwal Nama Majid Pucuk" by T. Agus Khaidir. Based on the analysis, the short story collection Ihwal Nama Majid Pucuk by T. Agus Khaidir comprehensively contains 18 character education values according to the Ministry of National Education, including religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, national spirit, love of the homeland, respect for achievement, friendly/communicative, love of peace, love of reading, care for the environment, care for society, and responsibility. These values are conveyed implicitly through character conflicts, storylines, social settings, and narrative symbols that reflect the reality of life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the structure and function of healing mantras developed in the community of Kampung Air Kelat, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands Province. The selection of research objects was based on the community's strong belief in traditional healing practices performed by shamans, as well as the uniqueness of the language and cultural values contained in the healing mantras used. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research subjects were traditional healers in Kampung Air Kelat, while the research object was the healing mantras used in healing practices. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data classification, data interpretation, and data inference. The results of the study show that the structure of the healing mantras of the Air Kelat Village community refers to Suwardi Endraswara's theory, which consists of an opening, content, and closing. The function of healing mantras is not only as a means of praying to God for a smooth healing process, but also as a medium for traditional healing, preservation of religious values and local wisdom, and a reinforcement of social solidarity in the community. This research is expected to enrich the study of oral literature, particularly healing mantras, and contribute to the documentation and preservation of Malay oral cultural heritage in the archipelago.

Abstract

This study discusses the Semiotic Analysis of Bebuang Traditional Rituals of The Sea Tribe Community of Lipan Island, Penuba Village in Selayar district, Lingga Regency. This research method is descriptive analysis using a qualitative approach and applying semiotic theory and Charles Sanders Peirce. The data collection techniques used are participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study uses qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the data analysis obtained from the Semiotic Analysis of Bebuang Traditional Rituals of The Sea Tribe Community of Lipan Island, Penuba Village in Selayar district, Lingga Regency show that the Bebuang mantra contains linguistic and symbolic signs that reflect the spiritual, social, and ecological values of the Sea Tribe community. The semiotic meaning in the Bebuang mantra not only plays a role as a means of communication with ancestral spirits, but also as a form of local wisdom that strengthens the cultural identity of the Sea Tribe community.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an instructional medium in the form of a Poetry Gallery utilizing the Google Sites platform for teaching poetry texts to eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. The primary focus of this development is to assess the validity and practicality of the designed media. The development model employed is based on the 4D model, which was modified into three stages: define, design, and develop. The learning media developed is an interactive digital platform consisting of four main components: learning outcomes, learning objectives, material content, and quizzes. The validation process was conducted by two experts, namely a media expert and a content expert. To evaluate the practicality of the media, trials were conducted with two groups of students: a small group of 8 students and a large group of 40 students. Data were collected using two approaches: qualitative descriptive methods to analyze feedback, suggestions, and comments on the media, and quantitative descriptive methods to assess the scores related to the media’s validity and practicality. The validation results indicated that the media achieved a validity score of 88%, categorized as “valid and practical,” while the material validation reached 82%, categorized as “highly valid and highly practical.” The practicality tests conducted with students showed a score of 84% in the small group and 83% in the large group, which are classified as “highly practical and valid” and “practical and valid,” respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ecranization process of the novel Aku Tak Membenci Hujan by Sri Puji Hartini into the web series Aku Tak Membenci Hujan, directed by Adhe Dharmastriya. The focus of this study is the changes in the intrinsic elements, including plot, characters, and setting, resulting from the adaptation process from a literary work into an audiovisual medium. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive comparative research design by comparing the intrinsic elements found in both the novel and the web series Aku Tak Membenci Hujan. Data were collected through documentation techniques. The findings reveal that the ecranization process resulted in three major forms of change: reduction, addition, and varied modification. Plot reduction occurred because not all events in the novel were relevant to be presented in the web series. Plot additions and varied modifications were intended to strengthen the conflict, clarify the relationships between characters, and enhance the story’s appeal. Character reduction mainly involved supporting characters whose roles were less significant, while additions and varied modifications of characters and settings were carried out to accommodate the visual and dramatic demands of the audiovisual adaptation.

Abstract

The declining interest of younger generations in Malay literary works has reduced the understanding of the moral values embedded in traditional literature, particularly Syair Nasib Melayu by Tenas Effendy. This study aims to describe the moral values contained in the poem using Subur's theory of moral values. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. The data source was Syair Nasib Melayu by Tenas Effendy, while the data consisted of poetic stanzas containing moral values. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques and analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed 102 data representing 20 categories of moral values, including gratitude, honesty, justice, forgiveness, respect for parents, sincerity, humility, modesty, steadfastness, diligence, self-control, repentance, freedom from greed, generosity, unity, harmony, obedience, patience, responsibility, and time discipline. Among these, diligence was the most dominant moral value with 25 data, followed by generosity and harmony with 10 data each. These findings indicate that Syair Nasib Melayu not only possesses literary and aesthetic value but also serves as a medium for character education based on Malay local wisdom that remains relevant to contemporary society.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the forms of victim blaming represented in the film. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data sources include dialogues, speech, and scenes that contain elements of victim blaming in the film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah. Data were collected using observation and note-taking techniques with the help of a data corpus sheet, then analyzed using a literary sociology approach based on genetic structuralism theory, which includes human facts, social facts, collective subjects, and worldview. The results show that the practice of victim blaming appears in the form of negative labeling of victims, shifting responsibility onto the victims, social exclusion, and using the victims past experiences to justify the treatment they received. This representation is shown through both verbal and nonverbal elements that reflect the dominance of patriarchal culture and the imbalance of power relations within the family. In this way, the film Tears at the End of the Prayer Mat not only presents a depiction of victim blaming practices but also offers a critique of the culture of blaming victims and encourages society to grow awareness in respecting the rights and dignity of victims.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning of life, the meaning of suffering, and the existential vacuum experienced by the main character in the novel *Semesta Anasera* by Hindhiastinaaa, based on Viktor E. Frankl's theory of logotherapy. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques involved reading the novel serving as the research object, identifying excerpts containing elements of Viktor E. Frankl's logotherapy, and recording data corresponding to the research indicators. Data analysis techniques included identifying data related to Viktor E. Frankl's logotherapy, classifying the data into the aspects of the meaning of life, the meaning of suffering, and the existential vacuum, and subsequently describing and drawing conclusions from the research findings. The results indicate that the main character in the novel *Semesta Anasera* by Hindhiastinaaa experiences three aspects of Viktor E. Frankl's logotherapy: the meaning of life, the meaning of suffering, and the existential vacuum. The meaning of life is identified through two indicators: specific meaning in life and responsibility toward life. The meaning of suffering is identified through the indicators of changing one's attitude toward suffering and finding meaning within suffering. The existential vacuum is identified through the indicators of boredom and existential frustration. The research findings indicate that the protagonist's psychological journey evolves from a state of existential emptiness—through the ability to find meaning in their suffering—to ultimately discovering the meaning of life, in accordance with Viktor E. Frankl's concept of logotherapy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ekranisasi processes regarding plot, characters, and setting as the novel Assalamualaikum Baitullah by Asma Nadia was adapted into the film Assalamualaikum Baitullah directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu. A qualitative descriptive method was employed to describe the research findings. The researcher served as the primary instrument of the study. The data consisted of the novel's text as well as scenes and dialogue transcripts from the film concerning the adaptation. Data collection was conducted using the documentation technique, involving the recording of information from the novel's text and the film's scenes and dialogue transcripts. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the adaptation process involved changes in the form of reduction, addition, and variation regarding the plot, characters, and setting.The most dominant form of adaptation was the reduction of plot elements, carried out to align with the film's runtime
