Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading global health problem, with high morbidity and mortality. Adherence to long-term treatment regimens is essential to eradicate Mycobacterium tuberculosis and prevent drug resistance, yet many patients face psychosocial barriers that reduce adherence Objective: To examine the association of self-efficacy and social support with treatment adherence among patients with pulmonary TB. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Outpatient Department of Kendari City Hospital, Indonesia, from April to June 2024. Using consecutive sampling, 88 patients with pulmonary TB aged 20 to 50 years who were undergoing treatment and met inclusion criteria were enrolled. Self-efficacy was assessed using the General Self-Efficacy Scale, social support with the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and treatment adherence with the 8-item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. Associations were analyzed using chi-square tests and multiple linear regression. Results: Among 88 participants, 63.6% demonstrated high adherence, 63.6% reported good self-efficacy, and 63.6% reported high social support. Self-efficacy was positively associated with treatment adherence (r=0.265; p=0.024). Similarly, social support was positively associated with adherence (r=0.263; p=0.025). Regression analysis indicated that social support had the greatest influence on adherence (B=0.257; p=0.013), explaining 13.6% of the variance in adherence when combined with self-efficacy. Conclusion: Self-efficacy and social support are significant predictors of treatment adherence in pulmonary TB patients. Nursing interventions that enhance patient confidence and mobilize family and community support may improve adherence and optimize TB treatment outcomes

Abstract

Background: Post-term pregnancy is one of the complications that can be detrimental to the mother and baby, one of which is a decrease in fetal weight which can cause death in the baby. Objective: To determine the risk factors for serotinus pregnancy in the Lalowaru Community Health Center area, North Moramo District. Methods: This type of quantitative analytical research uses a case-control design. The population in the study were all mothers with a history of serotinus pregnancy. The total sample was 66 respondents, using random sampling techniques Results: There were 32 respondents (48.5%) who were at risk of experiencing a serotinous pregnancy and 34 other respondents (51.5%) who were not at risk of experiencing a serotinous pregnancy. In addition, 31 respondents (47%) with parity were at risk of experiencing a serotinous pregnancy and 35 respondents (53%) were not at risk of experiencing a serotinous pregnancy. The results showed that respondents at risk age had a 31.006 times greater chance of experiencing a serotonin pregnancy and respondents in the risk category had a 17.031 times greater chance of experiencing a serotonin pregnancy. Based on the results of statistical tests, a ρ value of 0.003 (0.003<0.05) was obtained, indicating that age is a risk factor for serotinus pregnancy. The ρ value is 0.010 (0.010<0.05), which means that parity is also a risk factor for serotinus pregnancy. Conclusions: age and parity are risk factors for serotinous pregnancy in the Lalowaru Community Health Center Working Area, North Moramo District

Abstract

Background: DM is a serious problem with the incidence rate increasing every year. Based on data obtained from the Ranomeeto Community Health Center, there are still many DM sufferers found. The results of interviews with residents suffering from DM revealed that there were DM patients who experienced peripheral neuropathy which was characterized by permanent numbness, temporary numbness, and weakness in the legs, namely numbness and cramps. The aim of this research aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of peripheral neuropathy in diabetes mellitus sufferers in the Ranomeeto Health Center Work Area. Methods: The research method used was observational using a cross-sectional design with a proportional random sampling technique with a population of 215 respondents and a sample size of 68 respondents. Results: The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between the duration of DM and peripheral neuropathy (X2 Calculation = 45.634 ≥ X2 Table = 3.841), there is a relationship between dyslipidemia and peripheral neuropathy (X2 Calculation = 14.645 ≥ X2 Table = 3.841), and there is a relationship between physical activity and the incidence of peripheral neuropathy (X2 Calculation = 39.151 ≥ X2 Table = 3.841). Conclusions: Based on the result, it can be concluded that long suffering from DM, dyslipidemia, and physical activity are factors related to the incidence of peripheral neuropathy in diabetes mellitus patients in the Ranomeeto Health Center Working Area.

Abstract

Background: Mother's milk (ASI) is a baby's need which is very necessary for the baby's growth and development. However, if exclusive breastfeeding is not provided, it can cause problems with the baby's growth and development Methods: This type of research is quantitative research using a cross-sectional study design, where the type of research emphasizes measuring/observing the independent and dependent variables only once at a time. This research involved 90 respondents. Results: In this study, the results showed that there was no relationship between working mothers and failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding in the Kandai Community Health Center working area with a Fisher's Exact Test value = 0.450 > 0.05. There is a relationship between social support and failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding in the Kandai Health Center working area with a calculated X2 value > X2 table. and there is a relationship between the promotion of formula milk and failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding in the Kandai public Health Center working area, the value of X2 calculated > X2 table. Conclusions: Promotion of formula milk, social support and no relationship between working mothers and the failure of exclusive breastfeeding in the Kandai Health Center working area. So it is necessary to pay attention to mothers who have babies <6 months to be able to provide exclusive milk to maintain the baby's growth and development well.
