Abstract

Indonesia is a house of culture. Many tribes, language, art and traditional culture spread in the Indonesian regions. All of these have become a motto of Indonesia that is unity in diversity or Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. In relation to arts, it is recognized that before colonialism, Indonesia has several indigenous scripts in which the root of this typeface originating from south Indian. After colonialism, however, these indigenous scripts in Indonesia started to shifting direction to modern typeface. As a result, these indigenous scripts become endangered. In the meantime, the modern typeface is growing sustainable until nowadays. This research paper aims to design digital typefaces application with Lampung and north Sumatra local wisdom adaptation. The method in this research is descriptive analysis with typography approach. The result in this research is the production of digital typefaces with local wisdom forms which can be installed in computer.

Abstract

Sundanese script is a system for writing Sundanese. The traditional writing system in Sundanese began in the 14th century until the 19th century. Sundanese script is related to cosmology that developed in Sundanese society. This research will review the role of technology in transforming local values by comparing the Ancient Sundanese Script and the Modern Sundanese Script through ATUMICS method. The result of this study shows that there is a simplification happening when transforming the Ancient Sundanese Script to the Modern ones. However, the Sundanese cosmology embodied within the Sundanese script is not lost. Thus, transformation of tradition could become one of the options in preserving local traditional values while adapting it into the current world.

Abstract

The Sundanese script has a philosophy of life for the Sundanese people, this script is a system for writing Sundanese. The traditional writing system in Sundanese began in the 14th century to the 19th century. This article will discuss the role of digital technology in creating the Sundanese script, using ATUMICS method, ATUMICS is an acronym for Artifact, Technique, Utility, Material, Icon, Concept and Shape. The ATUMICS approach is carried out to review the transformation of tradition in the Sundanese script. The ancient Sundanese script and the modern Sundanese script will be compared with ATUMICS approach. the results of this study were to determine the change or transformation of tradition in the Sundanese script. Transforming tradition is a way to create a new product derived from traditions, with adjustments to the six elements contained in the ATUMICS theory. Transformation of tradition is an effort to maintain tradition in the modern era which is adjusted to the times.

Abstract

Cirebon glass painting is a particularly famous artwork related to Islamic art in Indonesia. Aside from its aesthetic values, Cirebon glass painting also contained the symbol and message behind its ornaments. Figurative calligraphy with Arabic script is frequently used by glass painting artisans to make Cirebon glass painting. The resulted figurative calligraphy can take form resembling those of human figure, plants, animals, wayang, and the imaginary entity or particular symbols. As it is, Cirebon is one of the busiest port city in Java island. Therefore, many cultural exchanges happened by the interaction of many nationalities visiting Cirebon which later on assimilated to the local culture. This makes Cirebon glass painting unique since it was influenced by a mixture of cultures. This research focused on the elements that are contained on the Cirebon glass painting based on the artistic, magic, and religious aspect. The result in this research has an implication to expose the symbols, message and meaning behindCirebon glass painting and its synergy with the artistic, magic, and religious aspect that makes Cirebon glass painting survived and still doing well in Cirebon society nowadays.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan adalah salah satu kewajiban dari tridarma dosen. Kegiatan ini akan dilakukan di Sekolah Raudhatul Athfal Salman dan Paud Rumah 71 yang berlokasi di Pisangan Ciputat Jakarta Selatan. Melalui observasi dan pengamatan yang kami lakukan, Sekolah RA. Salman membutuh sesuatu yang baru atau inovasi dalam hal pengajaran kepada murid-murid. Sesuatu yang dilakukan dengan belajar dan bermain, dan dapat membuat murid-murid senang. Berdasarkan hal tersebut tim kami berinisiatif untuk membuat pelatihan mengenai membuat suatu karya sederhana dengan menggunakan teknik transfer laser print dan lem. Dengan menggunakan teknik ini para guru dapat mentransfer kembali kepada murid-murid bagaimana caranya dan dapat membuat bahan ajar sendiri seperti membuat puzzle, mengenal huruf dan angka, mengenal buah- buahan dengan dua bahasa. Hal ini dilakukan untuk menstimulus para guru agar bisa lebih kreatif dan dapat menjadi peluang usaha. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan mampu memberikan wawasan baru bagi para guru serta dapat dipraktikkan langsung kepada murid-murid Sekolah Raudhatul Athfal Salman dan Paud Rumah 71, karena pelatihan ini tidak hanya diaplikasikan ke media kayu atau triplek tetapi media apapun seperti acrylic, kaca, kanvas dan lain sebagainya.Kata kunci : pelatihan, bahan ajar, teknik transfer laser print

Abstract

This paper discusses about one of collection National Library of Republic Indonesia, Hikayat Purasara. Its a part of Betawi literature in the end 19th century which contains wayang story in prose form and this manuscript is codex unicus. It has a code with number ML178 in a microfilm roll 660.04. The illustration is very unique because it aims to construct an communication with the plot. In another side, this manuscript indicates culture combinations which bind up in one opus. It uses Jawi script with narrative form and Malay language. But also found Javanese-Sundanese languages with Malay-Betawi dialect. Wayang illustrations in this manuscript is an communication concept which describes social and moral messages. Further more, it has to get more attention like make comics, animations, or films which makes it more attractive and compatible with young generation. It aims to make the opus understood easily and learned the contents by today and future generations. --- Penelitian ini membahas salah satu naskah koleksi Perpustakaan Nasional, yaitu Hikayat Purasara. Naskah ini termasuk dalam sastra Betawi akhir abad 19. Naskah ini memuat kisah wayang yang berbentuk prosa, dan merupakan naskah tunggal. Kode naskah adalah ML178 dan dialihmediakan dalam bentuk mikrofilm dengan nomor rol 660.04. Penyajian ilustrasi wayang yang terdapat dalam naskah ini memiliki keunikan tersendiri, yakni sebuah bentuk komunikasi yang dibangun untuk memperkuat isi cerita. Selain itu, naskah ini menunjukkan adanya akulturasi kebudayaan yang terjalin sehingga menghasilkan sebuah karya yang harmonis. Aksara yang dugunakan adalah aksara Jawi dengan penyampaian cerita bersifat naratif menggunakan bahasa Melayu namun ada pula bahasa Jawa-Sunda yang menggunakan dialek Melayu Betawi. Ilustrasi wayang yang terdapat dalam naskah ini merupakan sebuah bentuk konsep komunikasi yang dituangkan melalui gambar yang mengandung pesan sosial. Karya sastra ini perlu mendapat perhatian antara lain mengubahnya ke dalam bentuk media lain seperti komik atau film animasi, yang menarik bagi generasi muda dan disesuaikan dengan perkembangan zaman. Hal ini perlu dilakukan agar karya tersebut lebih mudah dipahami dan dipelajari isi dan pesannya oleh generasi saat ini maupun yang akan datang.

Abstract

Tegalwaru Village has tried to develop by making itself a tourism village for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) since 2018. However, MSMEs of Tegalwaru Village have difficulty establishing their identity in the business world due to the lack of specialty products that are unique in the market. Therefore, there is a need to innovate the regional specialty products as one of the efforts to improve the village's economy through the development of science and technology by considering the potential and uniqueness of the resources available in Tegalwaru Village. As part of the community service program, research on specialty products in this area uses qualitative methods in the form of field studies through observation and in-depth interviews. The result shows that one of the potential MSMEs of Tegalwaru Village that can be developed as a regional specialty product is Wayang Golek craft. This potential is supported by thre factors which are natural resource in the form of Pulai trees which grow around Pulekan road, human resources who have expertise in handicrafts, and the uniqueness of the product compared to the MSME around the area. However, there were major problems in the ability of MSME production and diversity of products regarding Wayang Golek in Tegalwaru Village. The implication of this study is to offer solution regarding the ability to increase MSME production and to innovate a diverse Wayang Golek product to strengthen the position of Tegalwaru Village MSMEs in market competition.

Abstract

Wayang golek identik dengan boneka yang terbuat dari kayu, memakai pakaian lengkap, dan beberapa tokoh memiliki mahkota atau ukiran yang unik. Ukiran pada kepala wayang golek menjadi ciri khas dan identitas tokoh wayang tersebut. Pengrajin wayang golek akan langsung mengukir kepala wayang golek sesuai dengan karakter yang akan dibuatnya. Karya yang dibuat memiliki nilai estetika. Kendala yang dihadapi adalah hanya pengrajin saja yang dapat membuat kepala wayang golek, dilain sisi kurangnya minat generasi muda dalam mempelajari pembuatan wayang golek. Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dilakukan untuk menarik minat generasi muda dalam mempelajari seni tradisi Indonesia melalui kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan hiasan dinding kepala wayang golek. Teknik yang dilakukan adalah dengan membuat  cetakan wayang golek dari silicone rubber, sehingga wayang golek yang dihasilkan bukan lagi berbahan kayu, melainkan berbahan resin dan campuran kalsium. Hiasan dinding wayang golek berbahan resin ini dapat diproduksi secara massal sehingga produksi dapat terpenuhi dengan jumlah yang banyak.

Abstract

Covid-19 yang melanda beberapa negara berdampak pada perlambatan ekonomi. UMKM di Indonesia terkena dampak paling signifikan. Pandemi yang diikuti dengan Pembatasan Sosial Skala Besar ini membuat para pelaku UMKM banyak merumahkan pekerjanya. Golek Waris, salah satu UMKM di wilayah Tegalwaru, mengalami hal serupa. Sejak Covid-19 melanda pada pertengahan Maret 2020, UMKM ini harus menghentikan produksinya yang mengakibatkan penjualan menurun dan pendapatan negatif. Era kenormalan baru yang dicanangkan oleh pemerintah mulai memberikan harapan bagi UMKM untuk menghidupkan kembali perekonomian. Maka dari itu, artikel ini bertujuan untuk berbagi pengalaman Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan dalam memberikan edukasi untuk membantu UMKM melalui pelatihan foto produk agar mereka mempersiapkan promosi produk yang nantinya akan digunakan di pasar yang tersedia sehingga wayang golek sebagai produk unggulan Desa Tegalwaru bisa kembali bersaing di pasar pasca pandemi Covid-19.
