Abstract

The issue of disputed land, in which the question of ownership is contested, is a significant challenge in Indonesia. This is also frequently the case in Sompe Village, Wajo Regency, regardless of whether the matter has been settled through arbitration, mediation, or court proceedings. Nevertheless, numerous instances of ongoing disputes persist within the community. Such issues may be caused by a number of factors, including a lack of clarity surrounding the certification process, deficiencies in administrative procedures, inconsistencies in land boundaries, the dissemination of misinformation or incomplete data, regional expansion, a disproportionate demand for land relative to its availability, and conflicts of interest. In response to this situation, the local government of Wajo Regency has initiated the Boundary Marking Movement (Gemapatas), a programme of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning of the Indonesian National Land Agency. This initiative aims to reinforce the legal basis for land ownership. In order to assist the government in reducing the number of disputes within the community, it is necessary to provide legal counsel on agrarian issues. This will increase understanding and provide the community with a greater understanding of land law, particularly in Sompe Village.

Abstract

The issue of traffic safety represents a significant concern in a number of contexts, including among students. The objective of the traffic order socialisation programme is to enhance the awareness and knowledge of junior high school students in Lagosi regarding the significance of orderly behaviour on the road. The socialisation programme comprised a series of activities, including the presentation of materials on traffic signs, basic traffic rules, and the adverse consequences of violating traffic regulations. Furthermore, simulations and interactive discussions were conducted with the objective of reinforcing students' comprehension of the scenarios they frequently encounter on a daily basis while traversing the roadways. It is anticipated that this pedagogical strategy will facilitate not only an understanding of traffic regulations, but also their practical application in the students' daily lives, whether as pedestrians, cyclists, or passengers. The results of this activity demonstrated a notable enhancement in students' comprehension of the significance of road safety, accompanied by a more favourable shift in attitude towards the practice of orderly traffic conduct. It is therefore anticipated that this socialisation programme will serve as an initial step in the moulding of a younger generation that is more disciplined and aware of traffic safety.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Notaries in the preparation of deed minutes in accordance with Law Number 2 of 2014 and the legal consequences that arise if the notary does not read the deed minutes to the interested parties. Data were collected through document studies and literature relevant to the research topic. The results of the study indicate that notaries have an important role in the entire process of preparing a deed, from the formulation to the reading of the deed minutes. In accordance with the provisions of the law, Notaries are required to read the deed minutes in front of the parties to ensure that they understand the contents of the document in full and that no party is harmed. If the Notary is negligent in carrying out this obligation, it is a serious violation that can result in legal sanctions for the Notary, including the obligation to provide compensation to the injured party. In addition, a deed that is not read by a notary is at risk of losing its status as an authentic deed, which results in a decrease in the validity of the document. In conclusion, the reading of the deed minutes by a notary is a crucial aspect in maintaining the authenticity and validity of the legal documents he prepares

Abstract

Seas and oceans are equally realms with their advantages in bridging nations, inculcating a sense of unity, mutual understanding, and cooperation as well as in generating wealth. They are considered priceless treasures, which can neither be exchanged nor modified. At the same time, seas and oceans are also capable of changing their function as theaters of conflict and routes towards colonization/imperialism that has ultimately led to the demise of various ancient kingdoms. In the historiography of the Southeast Asia Archipelago, the relationship between men known as seafarers and seas like the South China Sea, Sulu Sea, Celebes Sea, Flores Sea, Jawa Sea, Banda Sea, and others, all of which are within the confines of the Indian and Pacific oceans, is indisputable. It is not far-fetched to suggest that the change and development in present-day Southeast Asia, from traditional kingdoms to modern nation-states are intimately rooted in and shaped by the contributions of our seafaring ancestors. History demonstrates how they risked as well as sacrificed their lives crossing treacherous waters and encountering stormy weathers just to ensure their legacy and continuity of the future generations of seafarers, and turning this region into an epicentre that was second to none in the world of civilizations. Yet, their thousands of years of contributions and sacrifices appear trivial and pale into insignificance like” shipwrecks laying at the bottom of the sea in their forgotten watery graves”. This article aims to discuss the diversity of terminology and fields in maritime historiography; the glory of the maritime kingdoms in the Southeast Asia Archipelago as leading powers, emporiums, and empires; and to reevaluate and reconstruct the facts of maritime history in the Southeast Asia Archipelago.

Abstract

Traditionally, seas and oceans have become sources of inspiration in seeking the truth from facts to dispel the worldview of those who tended to associate it with myths and superstitions. Seas and oceans are equally realms with their advantages in bridging nations, inculcating a sense of unity, mutual understanding, and cooperation as well as in generating wealth. They are considered priceless treasures, which can neither be exchanged nor modified. In the South East Asia or Nusantara historiography, the relationship between men known as seafarers is indisputable. It is not far-fetched to suggest that the change and development in present-day Southeast Asia, from traditional kingdoms to modern nation-states are intimately rooted in and shaped by the contributions of our seafaring ancestors. By taking into consideration past maritime historiography, namely the roles and contributions of these seafaring communities, and the presence of the surrounding seas and oceans, it can be deduced that they have contributed immensely to the development of various civilizations in this region.
