Abstract

The implementation of green business principles has increasingly become a strategic necessity for companies in Indonesia, particularly in response to rising regulatory pressures, global market demands, and the urgent need to safeguard environmental sustainability. Various environmental law instruments—such as the Environmental Protection and Management Act (PPLH), derivative regulations related to Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL), the PROPER performance rating program, and emission standards—provide a legal framework that indirectly drives the transformation of business practices toward greener models. This paper offers an in-depth discussion of the relationship between environmental regulation and the implementation of green business through a review of international and national literature. The discussion covers the dynamics of environmental law enforcement, challenges faced by industries in implementation, the role of green innovation, and Indonesia’s position in regional and global contexts. The findings indicate that the successful implementation of green business relies not only on strict regulations but also on organizational capabilities, technological support, market mechanisms, and government incentives. This study provides both theoretical and practical contributions on how environmental law can steer structural corporate changes toward sustainability.

Abstract

The global palm oil industry has undergone significant transformation as market volatility, sustainability pressures, and technological advancements reshape value chain dynamics. One of the most prominent strategic responses among plantation firms and downstream processors is the diversification of palm oil derivative products. This literature review synthesizes peer-reviewed studies published between 2013 and 2024 to examine how product diversification strategies contribute to competitive advantage in the palm oil sector. The review explores various forms of diversification, including downstream processing into oleochemicals, biofuels, specialty fats, food additives, and emerging bioproducts such as bioplastics and green surfactants. The findings demonstrate that diversification enhances competitive advantage through value addition, increased market access, innovation capability, and greater resilience to commodity-price fluctuations. The review also highlights the importance of technological capability, research and development investment, sustainability certification, and strategic partnerships in enabling successful product diversification. Despite these advantages, challenges persist in the form of volatile global regulations, sustainability-driven trade barriers, investment risks, and limited technological readiness in some producing countries. The synthesis concludes that product diversification is a central competitive strategy that can strengthen both economic and environmental sustainability of the palm oil industry when supported by innovation ecosystems, integrated supply chains, and responsible governance. Further research is needed to explore techno-economic feasibility, circular-economy integration, and the long-term sustainability impacts of emerging palm-based bioproducts.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in national and global economies by contributing to employment creation, income distribution, and local economic development. However, MSME activities may also generate environmental impacts, particularly related to waste management, resource use, and pollution. Environmental business law serves as a critical legal instrument to regulate, guide, and control business activities to ensure environmental protection and sustainable development. This article examines the role of environmental business law in governing MSME activities, identifies key challenges in the implementation of environmental regulations for MSMEs, and proposes strategies to strengthen legal compliance while supporting economic sustainability. Using a normative legal research method supported by a literature review of international journals, this study finds that although environmental legal frameworks are increasingly comprehensive, MSMEs face structural and institutional constraints in compliance. Therefore, adaptive, educative, and inclusive legal approaches are essential to promote environmentally responsible MSMEs without undermining their economic viability.

Abstract

Digital transformation in international business has significantly impacted how companies operate and interact with consumers, reshaping the competitive landscape in global markets. The integration of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing has revolutionized internal processes, customer relationships, and market expansion strategies. This study explores the effects of digitalization on operational efficiency, marketing strategies, and customer experiences within multinational corporations. It highlights how digital transformation not only reduces costs and enhances decision-making but also enables companies to create sustainable competitive advantages in a rapidly changing global business environment. Despite the numerous benefits, companies face challenges related to implementation costs, skill gaps, and data security, which must be overcome to fully leverage the opportunities presented by digital technologies.

Abstract

Statistical literacy is a fundamental competency for Disaster Management students, as disaster-related decision-making relies heavily on the analysis of risk, vulnerability, capacity, and disaster impact data. However, various studies and learning experiences indicate that students still face difficulties in understanding applied statistical concepts and operating data analysis software such as the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). This community service activity aims to improve the statistical literacy of Disaster Management students through structured, practical, and disaster-contextualized SPSS training. The implementation method includes stages of needs analysis, training module design, hands-on practice–based training, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results of the activity show a significant improvement in students’ understanding of basic statistical concepts, their ability to process and analyze disaster-related data using SPSS, as well as increased confidence in preparing data-driven scientific reports. This program is expected to contribute to improving the quality of human resources in the field of disaster management by promoting evidence-based decision making.

Abstract

Financial literacy in Indonesia, particularly among Generation Z, remains low, with many students lacking an understanding of basic concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt. At MAN 2 Kampar, this issue is exacerbated by limited access to relevant financial information and a lack of practical skills in financial management. This condition causes students to struggle in making sound financial decisions, which may negatively impact their future. To address this problem, the proposed solution is to implement a comprehensive financial education program, including budgeting simulations, investment games, and real-life case studies. This program aims to provide hands-on experience for students, strengthen their understanding of financial management, and improve financial literacy so they can better face future financial challenges.
