Abstract

This research was conducted at a company engaged in product packaging. Companies face one challenge, namely the increasing percentage of defects in fertilizer packaging by 0.5% to 1.7%. This research aims to identify the types of defects in granule fertilizer packaging, find out the causes of defects, and find out the root of the problem of defects and provide recommendations for improvement. The six sigma method is used with integrated root cause analysis (RCA). Six sigma is used to determine the sigma value. RCA to find out the cause and root of the problem. The results of this research show that the company's average sigma value is 3.52. With DMAIC and RCA approaches, it can be seen that the causes and root causes of product defects are caused by 4 factors, namely machines, materials, people and methods, so it is necessary to maintain machines, monitor raw materials and train employees

Abstract

Abstract

UKM ANDA, a manufacturing company engaged in the field of kitchen equipment, especially ovens. Experiencing a problem, namely high product defects reaching 3-5% per month. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of defects in the product, find the causes of product defects, and provide suggestions for improvement to reduce product defects. Using the seven quality tools and kaizen methods, it shows the types of defects that occur, namely dent defects of 89 products (40%), dimensional defects of 77 products (34%), and stand defects of 59 products (26%). Human factors (carelessness), methods (unclear work instructions), machines (blunt cutting tools), materials (poor raw materials), and the environment (messy work area) contribute to product defects. Proposed improvements include providing briefings, creating appropriate work guides for the production process, checking raw materials, periodic maintenance, and arranging work tools.

Abstract

PT. Nobelindo is a company specializing in the manufacturing of processing and packaging machines tailored to customer needs. To meet customer demands, efficient processing equipment is essential to support material handling. One way to enhance material handling is through facility layout planning. The current facility layout is considered inefficient, as the distance workers must travel to the warehouse is too far, requiring each department to make 2-4 trips per day, with a total material handling distance of 110 meters. This study aims to redesign the facility layout to optimize the production flow by considering the flow of production and distances between production areas to achieve better efficiency using the Activity Relationship Chart and Corelap methods. The results show a total material handling distance of 59 meters, achieving an efficiency improvement of 46.3%. Therefore, this redesigned facility layout can serve as an alternative for PT. Nobelindo to optimize material handling processes.

Abstract

General Background: Facility layout design is essential in supporting operational efficiency and smooth material flow within production systems. Specific Background: Ineffective layout arrangements often lead to excessive material handling distances and inefficient workflows in industrial environments. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have not fully integrated relationship-based analysis and visual layout representation to systematically improve facility arrangement. Aims: This study aims to redesign facility layout by analyzing activity relationships and developing an improved layout configuration using Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) and Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD). Results: The analysis identified key relationships among workstations, which were translated into a structured layout design that reduces unnecessary movement and organizes workflow more effectively. The proposed layout demonstrates improved proximity between related activities and better spatial arrangement compared to the initial condition. Novelty: This study provides a structured application of ARC and ARD integration to connect relationship analysis with visual layout design in a specific industrial context. Implications: The findings offer practical guidance for improving facility layout planning to support more organized production flow and reduced material handling inefficiencies. Keywords: Facility Layout, ARC Method, ARD Method, Material Handling, Layout Redesign Key Findings Highlights Activity relationships guide spatial arrangement decisions Workflow organization reduces unnecessary movement Proposed configuration improves proximity among work units

Abstract

Online libraries are a development of conventional libraries that can make it easier for readers to get information anywhere without having to come to where the library is located. The existence of this can be the right solution during the current pandemic. Completeness and continuous updates can be an important factor for achieving success in attracting user interest. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is a useful statistical test measure that is useful for being able to complete a study simultaneously through indicators that affect service quality and user satisfaction. The results in this study found that service quality had no effect on user satisfaction with a CR value of 1.246 and a p value of 0.213 while online libraries had an effect on user satisfaction with a CR value of 5.282 and a p value of 0.000.
