Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the relationship between physical fitness components and the risk of injury in active students in the Department of Physical Education, Health, and Recreation, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The fitness components analyzed include muscle strength, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, speed, and balance. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A sample of 60 students was selected through a purposive sampling technique, with the criteria of routinely participating in sports activities on campus. Data collection was carried out by measuring fitness components using standard physical fitness test instruments, as well as structured questionnaires to record sports injury history. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson correlation test and multiple linear regression to identify the relationship between fitness variables and injury risk. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between balance, balance, and muscle strength with the risk of injury (p <0.05), while cardiorespiratory endurance and speed did not show a statistically significant relationship. These findings emphasize the importance of developing certain fitness components, especially muscle strength, flexibility, and balance, in physical exercise programs to minimize the potential for injury in physically active students.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil antropometri dan kemampuan motorik mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Jasmani, Kesehatan, dan Rekreasi (PJKR) Universitas Negeri Makassar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 78 mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data antropometri yang diukur meliputi tinggi badan, berat badan, indeks massa tubuh (IMT), dan persentase lemak tubuh. Sementara itu, kemampuan motorik yang dianalisis meliputi kekuatan otot, kecepatan, kelincahan, daya tahan, dan koordinasi. Instrumen pengumpulan data variabel antropometri tinggi badan (cm) diukur menggunakan stadiometer, berat badan (kg), diukur dengan timbangan digital, lingkar lengan atas (dalam cm), diukur menggunakan pita pengukur (measuring tape), lingkar pinggang (dalam cm), diukur pada titik terkecil antara tulang rusuk dan krista iliaka, indeks massa tubuh (IMT), dihitung dengan rumus berat badan (kg) dibagi kuadrat tinggi badan (m²). Sedangkan variabel motorik kecepatan diukur menggunakan tes lari 40 meter, kekuatan diukur dengan tes push-up selama 1 menit. kelincahan, diukur dengan illinois agility test(zig-zag test), daya tahan diukur melalui tes lari 12 menit (cooper test) dan koordinasi diukur dengan tes lempar tangkap bola selama 30 detik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa memiliki kategori IMT normal, namun terdapat variasi dalam tingkat kemampuan motorik antar individu. Temuan ini memberikan gambaran awal yang dapat dijadikan dasar dalam perencanaan program latihan fisik dan pembinaan kebugaran jasmani mahasiswa jurusan PJKR. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya evaluasi berkala terhadap aspek antropometri dan motorik guna menunjang pencapaian kompetensi akademik dan keterampilan profesi di bidang pendidikan jasmani.

Abstract

Latihan Fartlek merupakan metode latihan yang mengombinasikan kecepatan dan intensitas yang bervariasi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kapasitas kardiovaskular. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah terdapat perubahan signifikan pada respon denyut nadi saat pembebanan dan recovery sebelum dan sesudah latihan fartlek selama 3 bulan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perubahan respon denyut nadi selama 6 menit pembebanan dan 6 menit recovery di atas sepeda statis sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti program latihan Fartlek selama 3 bulan. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 34 siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen one group pretest-posttest design dengan pengukuran denyut nadi selama 6 menit pembebanan dan 6 menit recovery diatas sepeda statis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan efisiensi kardiovaskular, ditandai dengan penurunan denyut nadi selama pembebanan serta pemulihan yang lebih cepat setelah mengikuti latihan fartlek selama 3 bulan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini, bahwa latihan fartlek terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas kardiovaskular serta menyebabkan penurunan denyut nadi selama pembebanan dan pemulihan yang lebih cepat menunjukkan adanya peningkatan daya tahan aerobik.AbstractFartlek training is a training method that combines varying speed and intensity, so it can increase cardiovascular capacity. The problem in this research is whether there are significant changes in the heart rate response during loading and recovery before and after fartlek training for 3 months. This study aims to analyze changes in heart rate response during 6 minutes of loading and 6 minutes of recovery on a stationary bike before and after participating in a Fartlek training program for 3 months. The research sample consisted of 34 junior high school students selected by purposive sampling. The method used was an experiment one group pretest-posttest design with heart rate measurements during 6 minutes of loading and 6 minutes of recovery on a stationary bike. The results showed an increase in cardiovascular efficiency, marked by a decrease in heart rate during loading and faster recovery after participating in fartlek training for 3 months. The conclusion of this study is that fartlek training is proven to be effective in increasing cardiovascular capacity and causing a decrease in heart rate during loading and faster recovery indicating an increase in aerobic endurance.

Abstract

Introduction. Aerobic exercise plays an important role in improving cardiovascular fitness, but each training method has different effectiveness. This study aims to compare the effects of Low-Intensity Steady State (LISS) and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on cardiovascular adaptation in students from the Department of Physical Education, Health, and Recreation, Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). Methods. This study used an experimental method with a pre-test and post-test control group design. A total of 54 students were divided into two groups. The first group underwent LISS training with an intensity of 50-60% of maximum heart rate (HRmax) for 40 minutes per session, while the second group underwent HIIT with an intensity interval of 85-95% HRmax for 20 minutes per session, each performed 4 times per week for 6 weeks. The cardiovascular parameters measured included VO₂ max, resting heart rate, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Results. The results showed that both training methods provided a significant increase in VO₂ max and a decrease in resting heart rate (p < 0.05). However, the HIIT group experienced a greater increase in VO₂ max compared to the LISS group (p < 0.05), while the LISS and HIIT pressure reduction variables were significantly able to reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, indicating similar benefits in terms of blood pressure control. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study is that HIIT is more effective in increasing cardiovascular adaptation, more effective in heart performance or decreasing heart rate and both are effective in reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to optimize Physical Education learning through a physical activity training and mentoring program at the IMMIM Islamic Boarding School Senior High School. The background to this activity is the limited variety of learning conducted by teachers and the low involvement of students in physical activities due to the busy academic and religious routines at the Islamic boarding school. The implementation method is carried out through four stages: preparation, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The preparation stage is carried out by developing training modules and evaluation instruments, while the training stage focuses on improving teacher competency and introducing a variety of physical activities to students. Mentoring is carried out directly during the lesson, followed by an evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the program. The results of the activity indicate that teachers gained increased knowledge and skills in managing more creative and enjoyable Physical Education learning. Meanwhile, students showed increased motivation and active participation in physical activities, and a culture of healthy and active living began to form in the Islamic boarding school environment. Overall, this community service program was able to make a real contribution to improving the quality of Physical Education learning while supporting the achievement of educational goals holistically. This activity is recommended to be continued on an ongoing basis and expanded to other schools with adjustments based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Kesiapan mental merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam mendukung performa atlet, khususnya atlet muda yang rentan terhadap stres dan kecemasan kompetitif. Tekanan dari pelatih, orang tua, maupun tuntutan pertandingan seringkali berdampak pada penurunan konsentrasi, motivasi, bahkan prestasi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan manajemen stres pada atlet muda Sulawesi Selatan melalui edukasi, workshop, dan simulasi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi mengenai konsep stres, praktik teknik manajemen stres (pernapasan diafragma, relaksasi otot progresif, self-talk positif, dan visualisasi), serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 45 atlet muda dari berbagai cabang olahraga. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan manajemen stres, dengan 85 persen peserta mampu mempraktikkan minimal dua teknik secara tepat. Atlet melaporkan perasaan lebih tenang, percaya diri, serta mampu mengendalikan emosi saat simulasi kompetisi. Program ini juga mendapat dukungan positif dari pelatih dan orang tua yang menyadari pentingnya penguatan aspek psikologis dalam pembinaan atlet. Dengan demikian, penerapan strategi manajemen stres terbukti efektif meningkatkan kesiapan mental atlet muda. Ke depan, program serupa disarankan untuk dikembangkan secara berkelanjutan dan diperluas ke berbagai cabang olahraga di Sulawesi Selatan.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital menghadirkan tantangan dalam meningkatkan literasi pendidikan, khususnya di kalangan mahasiswa. Program Studi Pendidikan Jasmani, Kesehatan, dan Rekreasi Universitas Negeri Makassar menghadapi kebutuhan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa mengenai konsep dasar pendidikan yang relevan dengan bidang mereka. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan buku Pengantar Pendidikan berbasis digital sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran. Metode rancangan kegiatan, cara pemilihan khalayak sasaran, bahan dan alat yang digunakan, desain alat beserta kinerja dan produktivitasnya, teknik pengumpulan data, dan teknik analisis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil dari program menunjukkan 75% mahasiswa aktif berpartisipasi dalam diskusi kelas, sementara 25% mahasiswa lainnya menunjukkan tingkat partisipasi yang lebih rendah atau pasif. Walaupun terdapat beberapa tantangan dalam penggunaan teknologi, program ini berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan literasi digital mahasiswa. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya dukungan teknis dan pelatihan lebih lanjut untuk memaksimalkan pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pendidikan dan membangun budaya literasi digital berkelanjutan. Secara keseluruhan, pengabdian ini berkontribusi positif terhadap kualitas pendidikan di Prodi Pendidikan Jasmani, Kesehatan, dan Rekreasi, serta membuka peluang untuk pengembangan pembelajaran digital yang lebih efektif di masa depan.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the impact of isometric training on increasing muscle capacity and energy efficiency in soccer athletes. A total of 30 soccer athletes from the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group that underwent isometric training for 8 weeks and the control group that did not undergo the treatment. The isometric training program was carried out 3 times a week, with a duration of each training session of 30 minutes. The variables measured in this study included muscle strength, energy efficiency, oxygen use, and heart rate. Measurements were taken before and after the intervention in both groups to evaluate the differences that occurred. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant increase in muscle strength (from 75.4 ± 6.5 kg to 82.7 ± 5.4 kg) and energy efficiency (from 65.2 ± 4.3% to 70.8 ± 3.7%). In addition, there was a significant decrease in oxygen utilization (from 42.3 ± 3.1 ml/kg/min to 39.8 ± 2.8 ml/kg/min) and heart rate (from 138.5 ± 10.2 bpm to 132.4 ± 9.1 bpm). In contrast, the control group did not show significant changes in these variables. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that isometric training has a positive effect on increasing muscle strength and energy efficiency, as well as decreasing oxygen utilization and heart rate in soccer athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between biomechanical and physiological variables on sprint performance in short-distance runners. A total of 20 male athletes aged 18–21 years were the subjects. Biomechanical data were obtained through video analysis of sprint movements, including stride length, stride frequency, joint angles, and foot contact time. While physiological aspects were measured through vertical jump tests and Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). Sprint times at distances of 30 and 60 meters were used as performance indicators. The results showed a significant correlation between stride length, foot contact time, cold muscle strength, and anaerobic capacity with sprint time (p <0.05). A negative correlation was found in stride length and muscle strength, while foot contact time showed a positive correlation. These findings confirm that sprint efficiency is greatly influenced by a combination of good biomechanical techniques and optimal physiological capacity. The conclusion of this study is that the development of an effective sprint training program must include an integrated approach between movement technique training and physical condition, to optimize running performance to the maximum.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of improving the competence of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PESH) teachers in developing interactive learning media based on digital technology. Many PESH  teachers at KKGO Manggala, Makassar City, still use conventional methods and face limitations in the use of digital media, resulting in less than optimal learning in attracting student interest and motivation. This training is designed to provide theoretical knowledge, practical practice, and hands-on experience in designing interactive learning media relevant to PESH material. The implementation method of the activity includes preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the preparation stage, modules are prepared and coordination with KKGO administrators is carried out. The implementation stage includes material presentations, practical workshops on creating media using applications such as Canva and interactive PowerPoint, and intensive mentoring in product development. Furthermore, evaluation is carried out through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and reflections with participants. The results of the activity show a significant increase in teacher knowledge and skills in developing interactive learning media. In addition, this activity also encourages creativity, collaboration, and teacher motivation to innovate in PESH learning. Thus, this training provides a real contribution to improving the quality of PESH learning and is worthy of being developed sustainably and scientifically in other regions.
