Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by audio-visual media on students’ critical thinking skills in IPAS learning for Grade V at SD Negeri 014 Batu Belah. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through pretest and posttest of critical thinking skills and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The hypothesis testing indicated a significance value of 0.044 < 0.05, therefore the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This finding indicates that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by audio-visual media has a significant effect on students’ critical thinking skills. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by audio-visual media is effective for IPAS learning as it can increase student engagement and train students’ critical thinking abilities. This model can be used as an alternative learning strategy for elementary school teachers.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of student collaboration skills in social studies learning in the VB class at Insan Kamil Bangkinang Elementary School, Bangkinang District, Kampar Regency City. One solution to overcome this problem is to apply the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type cooperative learning model. The aim of this research is to improve students' collaboration skills in social studies learning. The research method used by researchers is Classroom Action Research (PTK), which is carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings and 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The time of the research was carried out from May-June 2024. The subjects of this research were 17 class V B students, consisting of 13 boys and 4 girls. Data collection techniques include documentation and observation. This was before the action was taken, the student's cooperation ability was 35.29%. After taking action in cycle I it increased to 66.66%. Meanwhile in cycle II it increased to 94.11%. Thus, it can be concluded that using the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type cooperative learning model can improve students' collaboration skills in social studies learning at SD Insan Kamil Bangkinang.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of positive social attitudes among students during science learning in Grade IV at UPT SDN 011 Langgini, Bangkinang District, Kampar Regency. One solution to address this issue is the use of the Value Clarification Technique (VCT) model. This study aims to determine the planning and implementation of the Value Clarification Technique (VCT) model in improving students' social attitudes in science learning. The research methodology employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings and four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The study was carried out from May to June 2024, with a sample of 14 fourth-grade students, comprising 10 boys and 4 girls. Data collection techniques included documentation and observation. The social attitudes of students before receiving the intervention were 21.42%. After the intervention in the first cycle, it increased to 50%, and in the second cycle, it further increased to 85.71%. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the Value Clarification Technique (VCT) model can improve students' social attitudes in science learning at UPT SDN 011 Langgini.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low social skills of students in class V at SDN 002 Laggini. This research aims to improve students' social skills by using the value clarification technique (VCT) learning model in class V learning at SDN 002 Laggini. Indicators of social skills are: the ability to share or take turns, the ability to appreciate or respect, the ability to help, the ability to follow instructions and the ability to express opinions. This type of research is classroom action research. The subjects of this research were 28 class V students at SDN 002 Laggini. The cycle stage in research uses the steps of planning, implementation, observation, reflection. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation techniques. Data analysis techniques use quantitative and qualitative. The results of this research show that the value clarification technique (VCT) learning model can improve students' social skills. This can be shown by the observation results obtained in the first cycle of meeting I from 28 students. It was discovered that the social skills of students who were in the complete category reached 13 students (46%). The results of the first cycle of the second meeting of students who entered the complete category reached 15 students (54%). The results of cycle II of meeting I experienced an increase in students in the complete category reaching 20 students (71%). The results of the second cycle of the second meeting of students who entered the complete category reached 24 students (85%). Thus it can be concluded that through the application of the value clarification technique (VCT) learning model it can improve the social skills of class V students at SDN 002 Laggini.
