Abstract

Indonesia has the third highest maternal mortality rate in ASEAN. The Maternal Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) program was established to reduce the high maternal mortality rate. However, the effectiveness of maternal audit implementation still faces many obstacles. This study aims to describe the obstacles faced by the MPDSR team in assessing maternal mortality in Lombok Island. We used qualitative study with case study design through in-depth interviews with nine informants from two MPDSR program holders at the Health Offices and one Maternal Perinatal Death Notification (MPDN) coordinator at the West Nusa Tenggara Health Office in 2022. Data were analyzed using the thematic analysis approach. Triangulation were done by method triangulation, triangulation between researchers, triangulation of data sources, and theoretical triangulation. The results showed that the problems faced by the MPDSR team, including ineffective of MPDSR socialization, budget limitations of MPDSR activities, feature issues in the MPDN, the ratio between labor and workload was less than ideal, incomplete and delayed collection of maternal mortality data, lack of communication between MPDSR teams, health workers have not been trained in the data entry process, labor outside of medical supervision, no monitoring of maternal mortality cases in wards other than obgyn, health workers did not understand the ICD-10 code, the assessment was still conducted in a hybrid, not all maternal death cases were assessed, blaming culture, and suboptimal monitoring of the sustainability of MPDSR recommendation. Therefore, it was necessary to establish discussion to find strategies and solutions based on a priority scale.

Abstract

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common reproductive endocrine hormone disorder in women of childbearing age with a global incidence of 8-13%. The use of medical drugs in the long term can cause serious side effects so that the utilization of curcumin contained in Curcuma longa can be an alternative therapy consideration for PCOS. This paper will discuss the potential and benefits of curcumin content as an alternative therapy for PCOS. The method used, namely by reviewing the literature in national and international journals that are in accordance with the objectives of the review. The results of the literature review show that curcumin has effectiveness in treating PCOS through various mechanisms of action accompanied by minimal side effects. Alternative therapy of PCOS by taking curcumin needs to consider the dose, duration of use, and further research with larger subjects in assessing its effectiveness and side effects. However, it is suspected that nanocurcumin formulations have higher bioavailability and solubility than free curcumin, giving it even greater potential in the treatment of PCOS in the future. In conclusion, curcumin has the potential as an alternative therapy for PCOS that requires further research to achieve the optimization of PCOS treatment in the future.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease that occurs chronically and is characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. Current treatment of type 2 DM is with long-term oral hypoglycemic drug therapy, which is known to have side effects, such as kidney and liver disorders, so there is a need for drugs that have minimal potential side effects such as the use of Ulva lactuca and Sargassum duplicatum from seaweed. This paper will summarize the antihyperglycemic effects of Ulva lactuca and Sargassum duplicatum. The method used by researchers in this research is a literature study writing method that uses literature sources through Google Scholar and several credible websites such as Pubmed with the last 10 years of searches for articles and journals in Indonesian and English. The results of this study indicate that there is antidiabetic content in seaweed with Ulva lactuca and Sargassum duplicatum so that its use can be used as a complementary medicine. Therefore, treatment using seaweed with Ulva lactuca and Sargassum duplicatum has the potential to be developed to become a drug with minimal side effects in the treatment of type 2 DM in Indonesia.

Abstract

Snacks in the school environment have an important role in fulfilling good nutrition and nutrition for elementary school students. Currently, there are still many traders who do not pay attention to the snacks sold both in terms of health, composition, and hygiene. Based on data from BPOM or the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency, around 39.96% of snacks that are not eligible for consumption are spread throughout Indonesia. This shows how important it is for school students to pay more attention to their health in choosing snacks in the school area. This also underlies the conduct of counseling on healthy food and snacks in the elementary school environment in the Senggigi area, West Lombok Regency as a target elementary school from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram. The counseling was carried out for grade 1 and 2 students of SDN 2 Senggigi and was carried out on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 09.00 – 10.00 WITA. Counseling activities include providing counseling materials about healthy snacks, singing healthy snack songs, pre and post-tests, healthy snack games, and ending with giving fruits to students as participants in counseling. Furthermore, pre and post-test result data was processed using the SPSS application and there was a change in the average value of students' knowledge before and after the delivery of healthy snack counseling materials.

Abstract

Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare cancer of the gastrointestinal system. However, the prognosis for people with this disease has not improved in the last decade. CCA has a poor prognosis because most cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage and the availability of treatment options is limited.  This literature review aims to provide information regarding the current understanding and guidelines for cholangiocarcinoma. In this literature review, we searched the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and Google Scholar using the search keywords "Cholangiocarcinoma", "cholangiocarcinoma management", "cholangiocarcinoma guidelines" taken ScienceDirect, Researchgate, National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and PubMed published in the last 10 years. From various databases, the literature used and according to the selection criteria amounted to 50 articles In the latest articles and the Cancers NCCN Guidelines for Biliary Tract Cancer in 2023, CCA treatment is carried out based on the patient's profile. Targeted therapy is an additional treatment option today by targeting the molecular profile involved in the pathogenesis of CCA. The diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma is made through histology, radiography, and laboratory examination. Based on the Cancers NCCN Guidelines for Biliary Tract Cancer in 2023, the treatment carried out consists of determining cancer staging, surgery, radiation therapy, and systemic therapy.
