Abstract

Penguatan literasi dan seni budaya merupakan sarana bagi anak dalam menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kepekaan sosialnya. Melalui pertunjukkan puisi anak-anak belajar mengembangkan kemampuan literasi dan budaya sebagai bagian dari upaya pembentukan karakter mulia. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan literasi anak-anak komunitas The La Malonda Institute melalui pertujukkan puisi sekaligus menanamkan nilai-nilai budaya pada anak-anak. Melalui pendekatan partisipatif dan berkelanjutan, program ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan positif pada kemampuan literasi, kualitas karya puisi, dan keterampilan seni pertunjukan. Peserta mengalami dampak sosial dan psikologis yang positif, termasuk peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan keterampilan sosial. Keberlanjutan program didukung oleh pembentukan kelompok belajar, pengembangan modul mandiri, dan kemitraan strategis. Temuan ini menegaskan efektivitas integrasi literasi dan seni budaya dalam pembentukan karakter dan pengembangan potensi anak-anak. Kesimpulan dari pelaksanaan program kegiatan ini adalah penguatan literasi dan seni budaya berbasis pertunjukkan puisi berdampak positif bagi peningkatan kemampuan literasi, kualitas karya puisi, dan performa peserta melalui tes tertulis

Abstract

Heroes do not always have to be perfect; they can also have flaws that then become their strengths. This research discusses the conventions and inventions of fantasy formula in the movie Rise of the Guardians (2012), focusing on the hero, the other, helpers and guides, the call, the journey, the treasure, and the transformation. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach. The research reveals that the movie incorporates both convention and invention in its fantasy formula. The conventions are: 1) The 'the other' character is Pitch. Howard is depicted with a pale face and is always seen wearing black clothes. 2) The ‘the wise old man’ character is Man in the Moon. Howard provides guidance to the heroes in the form of advice. 3) The ‘treasure’ is the return of the children's belief in the guardians. According to Howard, treasures are sometimes intangible. 4) The ‘transformation’, by Howard, after getting the treasure, and after fighting alongside the other guardians, Jack turns into the hero he should be. While the inventions are: 1) ‘The hero’, not by Howard, the heroes in the movie are not desperately unhappy and experience their lives as a stultifying world. 2) ‘The call’, not by Howard, Jack receives the call but lacks insight, courage, or endurance. 3) ‘The Journey’, not by Howard, the heroes do not leave the original world nor cross over to a mysterious one.

Abstract

Socialization of Literature and Film as a Scientific Research for Literature Students of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Halu Oleo is a Community Service program that implemented in 2022. This program is implemented by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences service team, in collaboration with the Terumbu community of Kendari city. In general, the implementation of this community service lasts for 2x24 hours, but the socialization as intended has been carried out for 3x60 minutes at the Madecca café, Kendari city. The socialization is expected to provide additional knowledge related to literature and film, especially when making both of them a scientific research. Attended by various groups of people, the community service program was carried out well. Program ini dilaksanakan oleh tim pengabdian Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, bekerja sama dengan komunitas Terumbu kota Kendari. Secara umum, pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berlangsung selama 2x24 jam, namun untuk sosialisasi sebagaimana yang dimaksud telah dilaksanakan selama 3x60 menit di café Madecca kota Kendari. Abstract

This research aims to describe about love and relationship conveyed in Wave to Earth's song lyrics entitled Sunny Days, Light, and Peach Eyes by using the theory of metaphor from Lakoff & Johnson. Lakoff & Johnson implied that metaphor as the domain of experience can be associated with the other expression to explain another one and distributed into three main type name structural, ontological and orientation metaphor. After doing the study, this research finds out eleven lyrics from those three songs by Wave to Earth categorized as metaphor and have the intention to demonstrate how love and relationship showed within the lyrics. From the analysis, the lyrics contain the deep and emotional expression related to love and relationship told in uncommon expression to express how the feeling of the song lyrics.

Abstract

Abstract: Writing a scientific journal is not only carried out by teachers, lecturers, or researchers, but is also carried out by students, especially the final-year students in preparing to write scientific journal as prerequisite for their graduation. The aim of this training programme is to hone students’ writing skill in creating clear, structures, and scientific journal reports. Apart from the writing aspect, it is hoped that scientific journals resulting from students’ research can be published. As a result, it can broaden their horizons regarding their knowledge in certain research field.  Apart from honing writing skill, writing scientific journals also aims to train researchers to think critically, objectively, and systematically to understand problems in more depth and think ahead. Writing a scientific journal and then publishing it will become a good track record that shows someone’s competence and can be a good portfolio, especially when planning further studies or to obtain a scholarship.
