Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are one of the competencies that students must have in the 21st century.  This study aims to anylize and describe students’ mathematical communication skills in terms of self efficacy on the polyhedrons material. The research used descriptive qualitative methods. The subjects were 9 grade students of An nashichah private junior high school selected purposively.  Data was collected through online test, questionnaires and interviews using WhatsApp. The data analyzed through 3 stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that the students’ mathematical communication skills were low. When viewed from students’ self efficacy, high self efficacy students have high mathematical communication. Meanwhile, low and moderate self efficacy students have low mathematical communication skills. The use of Whatsapp media is not able to support students mathematical communication skill and self efficacy. The tachers need to design learning media to help students improve their mathematical communication skills and self efiicacy.

Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak has an impact on the provision of education. One of them is the process of online assessment or examination. Difficulties occur during online exams; weak supervision can increase cheating behavior among students. Generally, teachers or lecturers think about how to prevent this behavior. However, what if they are allowed to "cheat" on the exam? What do they think? This paper discusses students' perceptions when they were allowed to access various sources during online math exams. What benefits do they get?. The survey was conducted on 78 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program of UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The data obtained through a questionnaire were analyzed descriptively. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the students gave a positive response. The results of this study are expected to be a positive view of the weakness of supervision during online math exams, an idea/way to prevent cheating. In its application, both online learning and assessment, it is necessary to strengthen the character and self-concept of students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS) berbasis pendekatan open ended dan mengetahui kelayakan produk LKS dari aspek kevalidan dan kepraktisan, serta untuk melihat kemampuan berpikir siswa Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) setelah penggunaan LKS. LKS berbasis pendekatan open ended ini dikembangkan menggunakan model pengembangan 4D. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKS berbasis open ended ini valid dan praktis, serta mampu memfasilitasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa. LKS berbasis open ended ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan ajar bagi pembelajaran matematika sekolah.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of visual thinking approach on improving students' mathematical connection ability. This is a quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The sample is students on class VIII in Madrasah Tsanawiyah which is chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The research instruments used are a test of mathematical connection ability and an observation sheet. The results of the observations showed an increase in the activity of students and teachers in each meeting in the classroom that obtained learning by using visual thinking approach. The data of increased connection ability is not normally distributed, so the data analysis is done using U non-parametric test of Mann Whitney. From the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is no significant effect of learning by using visual thinking approach to students’ mathematical connection ability improvement.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective eighth-grade Statistical module based on Problem-Based Learning. The ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model was used to develop the module in this research. The research findings showed that the developed module was valid with a validity percentage of 85.29% based on the validity test.  Based on the practicality test of a small group with eight respondents, the developed module was stated very practical with a practicality percentage of 88.97%.  These showed that the developed module completed valid and practical criteria.  The practicality test of limited group and module effectiveness test could not be carried out because the learning situation was not effecting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan koneksi matematis mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis berdasarkan level kemampuan akademik pada matakuliah Kalkukus Diferensial. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis 29 orang mahasiswa UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau yang sedang mengambil matakuliah Persamaan Diferensial Biasa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes kemampuan koneksi matematis beserta alternatif jawabannya, lembar pedoman wawancara, dan lembar validasi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas teknik tes, teknik wawancara, dan penyebaran angket. Analisis data dilakukan dengan dua cara, yakni analisis data tertulis dilakukan dengan cara mengecek kebenaran jawaban yang diberikan oleh mahasiswa terhadap tes soal kemampuan koneksi matematis dan analisis data hasil wawancara dilakukan dengan mereduksi data. Dari analisis data ditemukan bahwa skor rata-rata kemampuan koneksi matematis mahasiswa secara keseluruhan adalah 3,65. Dan skor rata-rata kemampuan koneksi matematis mahasiswa adalah 3,55 untuk level akademik tinggi, 3,75 dan 3,64 untuk masing-masing level akademik sedang dan rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis yang tinggi dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika pada matakuliah Kalkulus Diferensial baik dipandang secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan level akademik.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang wajib dimiliki setiap siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah kemampuan pemecahan masalah dalam contextual teaching learning (CTL) dari tinjauan disposisi matematis. Penelitian eksperimen dengan desain faktorial ini dilakukan di SMPN 3 Tambang di provinsi Riau. Sampel dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, angket dan tes. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA dua jalur. Hasil penelitian dan analisis data menyimpulkan bahwa CTL berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah, sedangkan disposisi matematis tidak. Penerapan CTL dalam pembelajaran matematika harus dilakukan secara kontinu untuk memperoleh kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang baik. Kata kunci: contextual teaching and learning, pemecahan masalah, faktorial desain Abstract: Mathematical problem solving is important skill students must have.This study aims to examine students’ problem solving skill in contextual teaching and learning in terms of mathematical dispositions. Factorial design experimental was conducted at SMPN 3 Tambang, Riau province. Sample selected by cluster random sampling technique. Observation sheets, questionnaires and tests were used. The data were analyzed by the two way ANOVA test. The conclusion is CTL has an effect on problem solving, while mathematical dispositions does not. CTL must be applied continously to obtain high mathematical problem solving. Keywords: contextual teaching and learning, problem solving, factorial design

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan pembelajaran harus dilakukan di rumah. Dalam situasi ini, siswa dituntut untuk belajar mandiri secara online (dalam jejaring/daring), namun demikian bantuan dan bimbingan guru masih dibutuhkan agar pembelajaran terarah dan dapat mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Bantuan ini dikenal dengan scaffolding. Studi ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan, dengan peneliti sebagai instrumen utama. Data dan informasi yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara deduktif. Pada artikel ini diuraikan bagaimana peran scaffolding dan  efektivitas scaffolding dalam pembelajaran matematika. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa scaffolding dapat menjadi alternatif pembelajaran matematika saat ini. Pengaruh scaffolding pada pembelajaran matematika online  perlu diteliti lebih lanjut
