Abstract

Low emotional intelligence is a significant problem that hinders the social and academic development of high school students, where conventional guidance methods often fail to engage students effectively. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an innovative group guidance intervention model that uses the Ludo Emosi game media in the Experiential Learning framework to improve students' emotional intelligence. This study used a pre-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design involving eight 11th-grade students with low to moderate levels of emotional intelligence. The intervention was carried out in three structured sessions following Kolb's learning cycle, namely concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. The results showed a statistically significant increase in participants' emotional intelligence scores from before (pretest, M=19.12) to after (posttest, M=51.75), as evidenced by the Paired Samples t-test (t(7) = -15.76, p < 0.001). Furthermore, the N-Gain Score analysis produced a value of 0.80, indicating that the intervention had a practical effectiveness level classified as “High.” These findings demonstrate that a game-based experiential learning approach can effectively improve students' emotional skills and provide a practical, validated intervention model for guidance and counseling teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling (GC) Model in career planning services for vocational high school (SMK) students. The research background is based on the challenges of transitioning from school to the workforce, which requires students’ career readiness, including the development of competencies, career knowledge, and adaptability to industrial dynamics. This study employs a mixed-method approach, collecting data through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis. Participants include SMK students, guidance counselors, and related stakeholders. Data analysis is conducted using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods to provide a holistic view of the effectiveness of comprehensive GC services. The findings indicate that GC services integrating assessment, individual counseling, group guidance, and career information enhance students’ career readiness. Assessment of students’ interests, talents, and competencies serves as the foundation for personalized and relevant career planning. Continuous evaluation and monitoring provide feedback for service improvement, enabling students to develop career adaptability, self-efficacy, and positive attitudes in career decision-making. This study highlights that comprehensive GC is an effective strategy to prepare students for workforce challenges.

Abstract

Aggressiveness among adolescents has become an increasingly complex psychosocial issue in line with the rising prevalence of online gaming addiction in the digital era. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Aggression Replacement Training (ART) in reducing aggressiveness among senior high school students with tendencies toward online gaming addiction. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, using a mixed repeated-measures ANCOVA with online gaming addiction as a covariate. The participants consisted of 12 eleventh-grade students who exhibited high levels of aggressiveness and online gaming addiction at baseline. The results indicated that both interventions significantly reduced students’ aggressiveness from the pre-intervention phase to the post-intervention and follow-up stages. However, Motivational Interviewing demonstrated greater effectiveness than Aggression Replacement Training, as evidenced by larger, more consistent, and more sustained reductions in aggressiveness across all measurement points. In addition, a significant relationship was found between aggressiveness and online gaming addiction, underscoring the importance of controlling digital behavioral addiction when implementing psychological interventions targeting aggressive behavior. Based on these findings, the study concludes that Motivational Interviewing represents a more effective and contextually appropriate counseling approach for reducing aggressiveness associated with online gaming addiction among adolescents. This study contributes to the development of evidence-based guidance and counseling practices in school settings, particularly in addressing contemporary psychosocial challenges faced by adolescents in the digital era

This study aims to analyze the role  of comprehensive Guidance and Counseling (BK) based on local cultural values in improving career adaptability and emotional intelligence of students and students. The background of this research is based on the importance of students' readiness to face the demands of the dynamic world of work, as well as overcoming career anxiety and adaptability limitations that often arise in the digital era and disruption 4.0. The research uses a qualitative approach with  a systematic literature study method, including the collection, reading, and analysis of 22 scientific articles, journals, and trusted books published between 2015–2025. The literature selection process follows  the PRISMA model, starting from title and abstract screening, full-text screening, to article quality validation. The results of the study showed that comprehensive BK was effective in improving career adaptability and emotional intelligence through structured strategies, diverse counseling interventions (CBT, Pictorial Narrative, KIPAS Model, and digital services), as well as social support and counselor competence. The integration of local cultural values has been proven to strengthen students' identities while increasing career readiness. This study emphasizes that the development of comprehensive BK based on modern strategies and local culture is an effective solution to support the career readiness, adaptability, and psychological well-being of students.
