Abstract

Abstract

The high rate of divorce among young couples has become a concerning social issue, including in Kencong, Jember Regency. Based on data from the Kencong Religious Affairs Office (KUA), most divorce cases in 2023 involved couples around 21 years old, with primary causes including economic problems, social media influence, and pressure from extended families. This community service aims to support efforts to prevent early-age divorce by strengthening the pre-marital counseling program at KUA Kencong. The method used is the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which includes the stages of preparing, discovering, dreaming, defining, designing, and destiny. Activities were carried out through field observations, interviews with religious counselors, as well as mentoring and reinforcement of the existing pre-marital counseling program. The results indicate that strengthening this program has improved young couples’ awareness in preparing for marriage emotionally, spiritually, and socially. The implication of this activity is the need for sustainable collaboration between academics and the KUA to develop contextual and continuous educational programs that can reduce early-age divorce rates.

Abstract

This research examines the synergy between Tafsir Maqashidi and local wisdom in Senduro Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency, in maintaining religious harmony and tolerance. The research object includes Qur'anic verses related to moderation and local wisdom, such as the tradition of gotong royong and deliberation, which support social harmony in the village. The research objective is to understand how Islamic values in maqashid al-shariah can be integrated with local wisdom to create a tolerant society. This research uses a qualitative method with a Maqashidi tafsir approach and content analysis of verses such as QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 256 and QS. Al-Hujurat [49]: 13. The results show that Maqashidi tafsir reinforces the importance of moderation in maintaining harmony, and local wisdom in Senduro acts as a bridge in creating interfaith harmony. In conclusion, the integration between Maqashidi interpretation and local wisdom in Senduro Village is an effective strategy in maintaining social stability and interfaith tolerance

Abstract

This community service article examines the transformation of village land into bamboo-paranet community greenhouses as a low-cost solution to reduce household expenditures and strengthen food security. The service methodology uses Participatory Action Research (PAR) and religious social capital as a replication protocol. The activities are carried out through the PAR cycle (to know, to plan, to action, to reflect), utilizing socio-economic mapping and income mapping, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) using problem-tree and hope-tree analysis, and technical assistance for the development of bamboo-rack paranet greenhouses. Initial results indicate an increase in the availability of fresh kitchen supplies at the household level, strengthening the role of women in food management for both families and communities, and a reduction in daily household expenditures as reliance on the market for vegetables and spices decreases. Additionally, the integration of religious social capital has proven to enhance compliance with duty schedules and usage regulations. Pre–post quantitative data related to household expenditures and harvest volume will be presented in the final manuscript to measure the effectiveness of the community greenhouse model as a low-cost/high-impact intervention within the framework of the six dimensions of food security.

Abstract

Abstract

This study responds to the growing challenges of violence, hierarchical abuse, gender-based discrimination, and radicalism in pesantren, which underscore the need for alternative educational frameworks grounded in compassion, inclusivity, and justice. It examines the Love-Based Curriculum as a conceptual and practical approach to strengthening Islamic boarding school education in Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative library research method, the study analyzes a wide range of academic and policy literature, including classical Islamic thought, national educational philosophy, and contemporary perspectives, to explore how love-based values can prevent violence and reinforce religious moderation. The core novelty of this research lies in its synthesis of three key perspectives Al-Ghazali’s ethical pedagogy, Ki Hajar Dewantara’s humanistic educational philosophy, and Abdurrahman Wahid’s (Gus Dur’s) peace-oriented thought into an integrated framework of the Love-Based Curriculum. The findings indicate that compassion, inclusivity, and justice function as foundational principles for addressing hierarchical abuse, gender-based violence, radicalism, and intolerance in pesantren. Overall, the study highlights the Love-Based Curriculum as a preventive and transformative model that supports child-friendly education and promotes religious moderation amid the spread of exclusivist narratives in the digital era. It recommends institutional support from pesantren leaders and policymakers, as well as further research on practical models of implementation across diverse educational contexts.
