Abstract

This community service initiative aims to enhance awareness and encourage active participation among the residents of Peunaga Cut Ujong Village, Meureubo Subdistrict, West Aceh Regency, in environmental conservation efforts through mangrove planting. Located in a coastal area vulnerable to erosion and exposed to air pollution due to coal-burning activities, this village faces significant environmental challenges. Employing an educational and participatory approach, the program involved raising awareness about the ecological functions of mangroves and conducting direct planting activities in a mangrove forest area approximately 100 meters from the shoreline. The outcomes of the initiative indicated a positive response from the community, demonstrated by increased environmental awareness and active involvement in conservation efforts. Mangrove planting is expected to function as a coastal protection barrier, an air pollutant absorber, and a potential site for ecotourism and aquaculture development. This initiative highlights the importance of synergy between academia, the local community, and the industrial sector in creating sustainable environmental solutions. Continuous evaluation and the replication of similar programs are strongly recommended to enhance their long-term impact.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas implementasi program MBKM Kampus Mengajar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa di sekolah tertinggal. Program ini memberikan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk berkontribusi dalam pembelajaran di sekolah yang memiliki keterbatasan akses pendidikan. Melalui kegiatan selama 16 minggu di salah satu SDN wilayah Aceh Besar, mahasiswa membantu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap operasi matematika dasar, bangun datar, dan perhitungan sederhana. Berbagai metode diterapkan, termasuk penggunaan alat peraga, permainan edukatif, serta teknik pembelajaran interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan numerasi siswa kelas 1 hingga 6, yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan pemahaman konsep dasar matematika dan meningkatnya kepercayaan diri siswa dalam belajar. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa keterlibatan mahasiswa melalui program Kampus Mengajar dapat menjadi model efektif dalam mendukung pendidikan di daerah tertinggal dan mengurangi kesenjangan akses serta kualitas pembelajaran.

Abstract

Bendungan merupakan konstruksi yang dibangun untuk penyediaan pasokan air. Bendungan Keuliling berperan penting dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan air. Selain memberikan manfaat, bendungan juga memiliki potensi risiko yang perlu diantisipasi. Untuk itu, diperlukan analisis hasil pengamatan instrumentasi pada Bendungan Keuliling yang berdampak pada pemeliharaan bendungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan sekunder sebagai dasar analisis hasil pengamatan instrumentasi. Tujuan analisis adalah untuk menentukan nilai komponen hasil pengamatan instrumentasi menggunakan indeks kondisi pada Bendungan Keuliling. Penilaian dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi kerusakan pada komponen bendungan, lalu dilakukan penilaian skor indeks kondisi sesuai dengan tingkat kerusakan yang ditemukan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa indeks kondisi untuk komponen hasil pengamatan instrumentasi bendungan berada pada nilai 4, yang termasuk dalam kategori kerusakan ringan. Nilai ini menggambarkan kondisi terkini komponen hasil pengamatan instrumentasi bendungan dan menjadi acuan penting dalam melakukan pemeliharaan guna menjaga pemeliharaan bendungan.

Abstract

Concrete structures that experience performance degradation require repair and strengthening to maintain their load-bearing capacity. One method that has gained attention is the use of composite materials, specifically Natural Fiber Reinforced Polymer (NFRP), which consists of adhesives reinforced with natural fibers. Pineapple fiber is a promising natural fiber for NFRP due to its abundance, low production cost, environmental friendliness, and high tensile strength. This study aims to investigate the adhesion behavior between NFRP composite materials and concrete, as well as to observe the failure modes of both concrete and NFRP under tensile loading. Concrete specimens measuring (100 x 100 x 300) mm were reinforced with pineapple fiber NFRP of (50 x 240) mm, with fiber orientations arranged in both unidirectional and random patterns. The results showed that the maximum tensile strength of the random pineapple fiber NFRP reached 31.59 MPa. The highest load capacity recorded was 4360 kg, observed in the LP3-SNS-C test specimen. The failure mode occurred as a fracture of the pineapple fiber NFRP in the center of the specimen’s cross-section on both sides.

Abstract

The city of Banda Aceh is experiencing rapid growth, especially in the transportation sector, as the population and daily mobility of people increase. This condition causes various traffic problems such as congestion, pollution, and safety. The Aceh Provincial Government through the Transportation Agency responded to this by providing the Trans Koetaradja Bus as an alternative to public transportation. This bus carries the concept of BRT-lite without a special lane, with the hope of reducing dependence on private vehicles. Although it is generally accepted, the use of Trans Koetaradja is still low due to limited route access and the absence of feeder transportation. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and travel behavior of Trans Koetaradja users and private vehicles in mandatory and non mandatory activities in Banda Aceh. The research was conducted in a quantitative descriptive manner using the revealed preference method with 400 respondents. The results showed that the majority of respondents were women aged 20–29 years old with a bachelor's education background and status as a student. The most dominant mode of transportation is motorcycles, used almost every day by respondents. The use of Trans Koetaradja is still low, with the majority of respondents only using it less than once a month. The average travel time to the bus stop is 2–4 minutes, and the dominant destination for mandatory activities is work, while for non mandatory activities is recreation. This underscores that the limited use of Trans Koetaradja is mainly due to access constraints, despite the presence of a well-defined potential user segment.

Abstract

This study provides an understanding of the advantages of reinforced concrete in the construction of multi-story buildings in Banda Aceh. The objective of this research is to improve the efficiency of constructing the Class I Immigration Office Building in Banda Aceh by replacing the main structural system from steel to reinforced concrete. This change was carried out in accordance with the SNI 2847:2019 standard, utilizing the ETABS application for the design and analysis process.The results show that the total building weight in the existing condition (steel structure) is 1,594,043.95 kg, while using reinforced concrete increases the weight to 2,631,222.38 kg. At portal 5-5, the differences in bending moment and shear force between the steel and reinforced concrete structures are significant, with values of -2.9559 kNm and -80.0447 kNm for bending moment, and 3.5657 kN and 29.1996 kN for shear force, respectively. Additionally, the maximum lateral displacement in both X and Y directions is lower in the reinforced concrete structure compared to the steel structure. The axial force at portal 5-5 also shows an increase from -492.0887 kN (steel structure) to -949.2849 kN (reinforced concrete structure). These findings indicate that the use of reinforced concrete provides better stability, capacity, and overall structural performance compared to the steel structure

Abstract

Kopi Gayo merupakan komoditas unggulan dari Aceh Tengah yang memiliki reputasi internasional, namun kualitasnya masih dipengaruhi oleh praktik pascapanen yang belum sesuai standar. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan petani kopi terkait pengelolaan mutu biji kopi sesuai SNI 01-2907-2008. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui penyuluhan partisipatif, diskusi interaktif, serta pendampingan praktik pemetikan selektif, sortasi, dan pengeringan terkontrol. Penyuluhan menekankan pemetikan buah kopi matang (red cherry), prinsip pengeringan hingga kadar air 11–12%, serta sortasi biji sesuai indikator mutu. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan tingkat kesulitan yang bervariasi, di mana pemenuhan kriteria bebas serangga hidup dan kadar kotoran mudah dilakukan, sedangkan pengendalian bau busuk dan kadar air menjadi tantangan utama. Pendampingan praktik sortasi dan pengeringan berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan petani, dengan capaian mutu biji kopi bebas serangga, tidak berbau busuk, kadar air 11–12%, dan tanpa kotoran. Program ini membuktikan bahwa penyuluhan dan pendampingan pascapanen mampu meningkatkan kesadaran serta penerapan standar mutu kopi oleh petani. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam menjaga reputasi Kopi Arabika Gayo sekaligus meningkatkan daya saingnya di pasar domestik maupun global.

Abstract

Efforts to manage waste are being carried out at various levels, ranging from households to large-scale industries that generate waste on a daily basis. The imbalance between waste generation and proper management has turned waste into a serious environmental concern. Among the different types of waste, plastic is one of the most difficult to naturally decompose (non-biodegradable) and represents the largest portion compared to other waste materials. Statistical data show that in several cities across Indonesia, the amount of non-biodegradable waste disposed of at final disposal sites reaches 6,598.23 tons per day. This study was conducted with both general and specific objectives. The general aim was to utilize plastic waste as a composite material, while the specific objective was to analyze the tensile strength properties of composites produced from plastic waste reinforced with durian fibers. By exploring the potential of plastic waste in construction materials, this research seeks to provide a sustainable solution to the plastic waste problem while contributing to environmental preservation. Four different specimens were prepared for testing: Specimen A (80% plastic waste and 20% durian fiber), Specimen B (60% plastic waste and 40% durian fiber), Specimen C (40% plastic waste and 60% durian fiber), and Specimen D (20% plastic waste and 80% durian fiber). The results revealed that Specimen B exhibited the highest average tensile strength of 20.9 MPa, indicating significant potential for enhancing material performance. In contrast, Specimen D showed the lowest average tensile strength of only 1.2 MPa, highlighting the need for further composition optimization to improve mechanical properties. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the development of recycled composite materials for use in construction and broader industrial applications.
