Abstract

Red beet (Beta vulgaris L.) is a horticultural crop whose production remains limited in Indonesia. Therefore, it isnecessary to increase productivity by optimizing planting distance and harvest age. This study aimed to examinethe interaction between planting distance and harvest age on the growth and yield of the red beet variety Ayumi04. The research was conducted from March to June 2025 in Mojoroto Village, Pacet District, Mojokerto, using aRandomized Block Design (RBD) with two treatment factors: planting distance and harvest age. The first factorwas planting distance (30x30 cm, 30x25 cm, 30x20 cm, 30x15 cm), and the second factor was harvest age (50, 60,and 70 days after sowing [DAS]). Observed parameters included plant length, leaf area, fresh tuber weight perplant, fresh tuber weight per plot, tuber weight per hectare, and leaf area index. The results showed that aplanting distance of 30x15 cm combined with a harvest age of 70 DAS produced the best results, with fresh tuberweight per plot of 3.90 kg and per hectare of 27.06 tons/ha. These findings provide practical guidance indicatingthat a 30x15 cm planting distance and a 70 DAS harvest age are optimal for enhancing land-use efficiency and redbeet production. Overall, appropriate planting distance and harvest timing can significantly improve theproductivity and yield of red beetroot.

Abstract

Sunflower (Hellianthus annuus L.) has high economic value due to its great potential in industry. High market demand causes the need for intensification in sunflower cultivation to increase production and seed quality. This study aims to determine the right dosage and time of paclobutrazol application in suppressing growth and increasing the yield of sunflower plants. The research was conducted in Dohoagung Village, Balongpanggang District, Gresik Regency from May to September 2024. This research used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 factors, namely dose and application time. The two treatments resulted in 12 combinations, each of which was repeated three times. The results of the analysis of variance were further tested with the 5% HSD test.  The results show that the combination of paclobutrazol dosage of 0.3 g/plant and application time of 4 WAP gives the best results on plant growth (plant height and stem diameter). The single treatment of paclobutrazol dosage of 0.2 g/plant gave the best results on flower diameter, number of seeds, total seed weight and 100 seed weight. A single treatment of paclobutrazol application time at 4 WAP produced the best plant growth and increased flower diameter.

Abstract

This study aimedto evaluate the effects of combined NPK fertilizer and guano application on the growth and yield of Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.). The experiment employed a factorial randomized block design with two factors: NPK fertilizer dosage (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of recommended rates) and guano dosage (5, 10, and 15 tons/ha). Observed parameters included plant height, leaf count, number of flowers, number of pegs, and fresh/dry pod weight per plant. Results demonstrated that the combination of 25% NPK and 15 tons/ha guano significantly improved plant height (43.29 cm), flower count (47.33), and fresh pod weight (81.73 g/plant). Guano alone also exhibited a substantial effect on both vegetative and generative growth, with the highest results observed at 15 tons/ha. The combination of low NPK and high guano dosages enhances Bambara groundnut productivity sustainably.

Abstract

Snow pea (Pisum sativum L.) is a high-value vegetable crop with increasing market demand; however, its productivity remains relatively low due to suboptimal cultivation practices, particularly phosphorus (P) fertilization management. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of phosphorus fertilizer application timing and dosage on the growth and yield of the Taichung variety of snow pea. The experiment was conducted in Mojoroto Village, Pacet District, Mojokerto Regency, Indonesia, using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: phosphorus fertilizer application timing (at planting, 7 days after planting [DAP], and 14 DAP) and phosphorus fertilizer dosage (60, 80, 100, and 120 kg/ha). The results showed that the combination of phosphorus fertilizer applied at 100 kg/ha and 7 DAP produced the highest number of pods, pod weight per plant, and pod yield per hectare. Furthermore, phosphorus application at 7 DAP enhanced nutrient uptake efficiency during the early vegetative stage, while a dosage of 100 kg/ha significantly increased yield components, resulting in a pod weight of 99.72 g/plant. These findings indicate that optimizing both the timing and dosage of phosphorus fertilizer application can improve the productivity and yield quality of snow pea and provide a basis for technical fertilization recommendations for highland cultivation.

Abstract

Wren eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a horticultural crop that is favored because it can be processed into various foods and has high nutritional content, particularly vitamin A and phosphorus. This study aimed to determine the effect of sugarcane bagasse compost dosage and the concentration of TOP G2 liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) on the growth and yield of gelatik eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). The research was conducted in Ngembe Village, Pasuruan, from December 2024 to February 2025 using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, namely sugarcane bagasse compost dosage (10, 20, and 30 tons/ha) and TOP G2 LOF concentrations (0, 4, 6, and 8 ml/l), each with three replications. The observed variables included plant height, number of leaves, days to first flowering, total number of flowers, number of fruits, and fruit weight per plant. The results showed that the interaction of 20 tons/ha sugarcane bagasse compost and 6 ml/l LOF produced the best plant height and fruit weight. A compost dosage of 30 tons/ha combined with 8 ml/l LOF accelerated flowering and increased the number of leaves and flowers. TOP G2 LOF at a concentration of 8 ml/l yielded the highest number of fruits, although it was not significantly different from the 6 ml/l concentration. Therefore, the combination of 20 tons/ha sugarcane bagasse compost and 6 ml/l liquid organic fertilizer is recommended as the most effective treatment to optimize the growth and yield of gelatik eggplant.
