Abstract

ABSTRACT Cardiovascular disease represents a significant global health concern, with Indonesia being a country particularly affected by this condition. Data from the United States indicates that coronary heart disease is the leading cause of mortality, accounting for more than 40% of all deaths. Concurrently, data from Indonesia indicates a yearly escalation in the prevalence of heart disease. According to the most recent data, heart disease is responsible for 19 million deaths per year, making it the second leading cause of mortality after stroke and cancer. There exists a multitude of risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD), including, but not limited to, obesity and physical inactivity. A surge in obesity rates has been observed in Indonesia. The results of the 2018 Riskesdas study indicated that 33.5% of the Indonesian population exhibited inadequate levels of physical activity. Determine the correlation between BMI, physical activity, and the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) at the Mojolangu Health Center in Malang City. An observational, analytic research design was used with a cross-sectional approach and a rule-of-thumb sampling technique to obtain 50 respondents for the study. Inclusion criteria for this study are respondents who have hypertension and are 40 years old. There is a significant correlation between BMI and CHD risk, as assessed using FRS (p=0.000, r=0.972). There was also a significant correlation between physical activity and CHD risk, with p = 0.000 and r = -0.768. There is a significant relationship between higher BMI and higher CHD risk. Regarding physical activity, the lower the level of activity, the higher the risk of CHD. Keywords: Body Mass Index, Cardiovascular Disease, Physical Activity.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Social media is often accessed by young children, including TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. If it is not controlled, it can cause mental health problems in children, leading to depression, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and disrupting their academic performance. Objective: To examine the correlation between social media use and mental health in school-age children at SDN Mulyorejo 03. Methods this quantitative research used a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 40 children from fourth, fifth, and sixth grade, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments in this study were questionnaires, namely the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for mental health problems and the Social Media Measurement Intensity Scale (SIMPS). Correlation betwee variables tested using the chi-square test.  The results of the study obtained a significant value of p=0.035, indicating a correlation between social media use and mental health problems in children. The level of social media use among children was mostly in the high category, with 18 children (45%). The status of mental health problems was mostly in the highest category, with 21 children (52.5%). Conclusion there is a significant correlation between social media use and mental health problems in school-aged children at SDN Mulyorejo 03.  Recommendation this study can add to our knowledge about the negative and positive impacts of social media use among school-aged children.

Abstract

Abstract Mothers of children with visual impairment often experience psychological distress due to caregiving demands and concerns about their children’s future, which may increase the risk of anxiety. Family support is an important factor influencing mothers’ psychological well-being. This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support and anxiety levels among mothers of visually impaired children at SLB A, B, and D Negeri Kedungkandang, Malang City. This study employed a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all mothers of visually impaired children registered at SLB A, B, and D Negeri Kedungkandang, totaling 30 respondents, selected using total sampling. Data were collected using the Perceived Social Support from Family (PSS-Fa) questionnaire to measure family support and the Hamilton Rating Scale of Anxiety (HARS) to assess anxiety levels. Data analysis was performed using Spearman Rank correlation with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had moderate to low levels of family support and experienced moderate to severe anxiety. Spearman correlation analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between family support and anxiety levels (p < 0.05), indicating a moderate to strong correlation. Higher family support was associated with lower anxiety levels among mothers of visually impaired children. This study concludes that family support plays a crucial role in reducing anxiety among mothers of visually impaired children. Strengthening family support, particularly emotional support and family involvement in caregiving, is essential to improve mothers’ psychological well-being.

Abstract

Abstract

Abnormalities in platelets can lead to severe consequences renal and systemic blood flow. The aim of this study is to determine the predictive ability of platelet indices (mean platelet volume, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, and platelet count) in relation to changes in blood pressure before and immediately after hemodialysis. This study included 98 patients undergoing hemodialysis at the RSU UMM Malang, aged ≥18 years, hemodialysis duration > 1 month, and signing informed consent. The predictor variable were MPV, PLR, and platelet count and the outcome was the incidence of IDHT. There was a significant difference in the blood pressure of patients undergoing hemodialysis before compared to immediately after hemodialysis, for both systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p < 0.001). To assess the sensitivity and specificity of the accuracy of the platelet count, MPV, and PLR markers in predicting IDHT, ROC curve was created based on the difference in systolic blood pressure before-after hemodialysis. From the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, it was found that the MPV value was the highest above the diagonal line compared to PLR and platelet count with an MPV cut-off value was 9.15. This indicates that MPV is the best predictive marker compared to the other models.
