Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of mathematical concept understanding among elementary school students. The aim of this study is to investigate the improvement in mathematical concept understanding in third-grade students on the topic of rotational symmetry, taught using a rotational symmetry board media and Project-Based Learning (PBL). The method employed is Research and Development (R&D) to develop a learning media designed to assist students in solving problems related to this material. The study was conducted at Budi Asih Elementary School, where the students exhibit low mathematical concept understanding. The subjects of this study are third-grade students, divided into a limited trial class with 10 students and an extended trial class with 20 students. The instruments used to gather research data include non-test methods such as documentation study, teacher interviews, questionnaires for teachers and students, media validation, content validation, practitioner validation, observation, and a test with 5 questions assessing students' mathematical concept understanding in rotational symmetry. These instruments were then tested for validity, reliability, difficulty index, and discriminating power. The results indicate that there was an improvement in students' mathematical concept understanding in the rotational symmetry topic using the rotational symmetry board media with Project-Based Learning, as shown by the average pretest and posttest results in both the limited and extended trial classes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical numeracy literacy skills of elementary school students, particularly in understanding the fractional values of currency. This condition is exacerbated by the limited use of instructional media and the application of unengaging learning models, which fail to promote active student involvement. The aim of this study is to develop the "MoniMoney" instructional media, combined with the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model, to improve the mathematical numeracy literacy of second-grade elementary students. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method based on the Borg & Gall model. The research subjects consisted of 10 students for a limited trial and 22 students for a broader trial. Instruments included field notes, teacher interviews, validation sheets for media and content, as well as pretest and posttest assessments. Data were analyzed using N-Gain calculations and significance testing. The results showed that the MoniMoney instructional media was declared valid and feasible based on expert validation. Its use significantly improved students' mathematical numeracy literacy, with an average N-Gain score of 0.72 (high category). This study concludes that the MoniMoney instructional media, systematically developed and supported by the TGT model, is effective in improving students’ mathematical numeracy literacy. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of Monopoly-style educational media on the topic of fractional currency values with a fun cooperative learning approach, aligned with the characteristics of elementary school students. This media has the potential to serve as an innovative solution for meaningful and contextual numeracy learning.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on teaching social studies to primary school students, specifically focusing on its influence on critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. The research used a mixed-methods approach and employed proportional stratified sampling to select participants from five accredited public primary schools in Banyumas, Central Java. Quantitative data was collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' performance before and after implementing PjBL. Additionally, qualitative insights were obtained from semi-structured interviews with teachers to understand their experiences and perceptions of PjBL. The findings demonstrate a statistically significant positive correlation between PjBL implementation and improving students' critical thinking skills and academic performance in social studies. Furthermore, teachers reported increased student engagement and a more profound understanding of social studies concepts. This research contributes to the existing knowledge of PjBL by providing empirical evidence of its effectiveness in primary education, particularly within social studies instruction. The findings offer practical strategies for educators who aim to use PjBL to enhance critical thinking and academic achievement among young learners.

Abstract

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, vocabulary acquisition continues to encounter obstacles because of students’ low engagement with traditional methods, as well as contextual limitations. As Generation Z learners become more honed to digital and visual culture, an urgent need arises to align strategies that meet the learners in this context. This study seeks to analyse, critique, and interpret to potentials of Webtoon translation based pedagogy for enrichment of vocabulary knowledge and to enhance motivation and intercultural awareness for Gen Z learners. The research utilized a qualitative case study design to provide an in-depth understanding of students' experiences and responses to authentic learning situations. Data were collected from 40 undergraduate students through language vocabulary pre- and post-tests, classroom observations, reflective journals, and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative test data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test to determine vocabulary gains, while qualitative data were coded then subjected to thematic analysis to identify recurring themes about: translation strategies, challenges to learning, and motivating factors. Based on the findings, vocabulary mastery increased significantly following the use of the Webtoon intervention. Statistically significant gains were made by learners in contextualization of vocabulary, understanding idiomatic expressions, and ability to remember words or phrases. Furthermore, qualitative feedback suggested that the enriched and multimodal possibilities of Webtoons were effective in promoting deeper cognitive processing and motivating learners to engage with the targeted vocabulary. However, challenges existed in interpreting slang and cultural context, plus technical difficulties with digital access were evident.

Abstract

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is one of the surveillance tools that can work automatically 24 (twenty-four) which can be used as a tool that helps prevent crime on an object. This research uses a normative juridical approach method. The type of data in this study uses secondary data, and an empirical approach with a qualitative approach. The data sources used are documents and books. Secondary data is data obtained indirectly through literature studies of laws and regulations and publications of previous studies to add information, obtain a theoretical basis and legal basis. Data analysis is described qualitatively, by describing data in the form of sentences that are organized, logical, effective, so that it helps ease of understanding. This research results in the existence of CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) recording evidence recognized as valid evidence, reinforced by the issuance of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, namely in Article 5 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of the ITE Law.
