Abstract

This research aims to find out the misconceptions of students about the concept of the set using certainty of response index (CRI) indicators. The research subjects consisted of 89 students who programmed the Introduction to Basic Mathematics (PDM) course. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. A written test consisting of 4 reasoned multiple choice and descriptive questions were used to collect research data. The results showed that based on CRI criteria, for problem number 1 about the differences of set and not sets, there were 39% of students experiencing misconceptions, 33% of students do not know the concept and 28% of students who know the concept correctly. In question number 2, the questions about three ways of presenting a set of natural, whole, prime and integers numbers, it was found that 12% of students experienced misconceptions and 76% of students did not know the concept because of guessing and lack of knowledge, the remaining 11% of students understand the concept very well. For problem number 3, about the operation of the set found that 30% of students experienced misconceptions, 45% did not know the concept and the remaining 24% understood the concept correctly. Furthermore, for problem number 4, the set operation story was obtained the result that of 19% of students who took the test experienced misconceptions, 57% of students did not understand the concept and only 24% of students understood the concept correctly. In other words, of the 4 questions that were tested on students, questions number 1 and 3 were mostly found by students experiencing misconceptions. Although problem number 2, it was found that at least students experienced misconspection but in this questions almost 80% of students did not know the concept correctly

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a change in the education system, namely regular or face-to-face learning suddenly changed to learning from home (BDR). One of the difficulties is the change in the direct learning climate to online learning, which is done individually. This difficulty resulted in learning loss for students. Learning loss has a long-term negative impact, namely reduced student academic achievement and cognitive skills. Therefore, it is necessary to choose learning media to minimize learning loss due to BDR during the Covid-19 pandemic. One learning media that is suitable for the conditions of the learning community in Kefamenanu City is the Mathematics learning media made from Waste (MPMBS), namely positive and negative charges. This study aims to reduce learning loss for students in the learning community in the city of Kefamenanu. The type of research is an experimental, pre-Experimental Design, namely a One-Group Pretest-Posttest with 11 students in the Sunday school community at one of the GMIT Churches in Kefamenanu. Data collection methods are tests, questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis techniques are descriptive statistical analysis, N-Gain analysis and inferential analysis. The results showed that the average value of the pretest was 33, and the average value of the posttest was 57.17. There was an increase after the students were given the learning treatment using MPMBS with a charge of 27.57 and an average N-gain of 0.64, including the medium category. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of waste-based MPMBS in learning integer operations can improve learning achievement while reducing learning loss in the community of Sunday school children in Kefemenanu. The next plan that will be done is to analyze the level of motivation of respondents to the use of MPMBS

Abstract

This study investigates lesson study research trends through bibliometric analysis on widely distributed Google Scholar (GS) and Scopus databases. We reviewed 997 papers from GS and 200 documents from the Scopus database searched using Harzing's Publish on May 6 2023. A descriptive study approach was used to investigate the data. The result of this study is that the number of lesson study documents has increased over the last decade (2012-2022). The most productive author based on GS  is R Huang from the United States, and the full author based on Scopus is E. Saito from Australia. While the prominent authors based on the highest citations are Fernandez Yoshida, based on GS, and Dudley, with the highest citations based on Scopus. The “International Journal for Lesson and Learning Studies” in the last decade is the most source of lesson study documents. Based on VosViewer visualization, Rosa is the author who has the most co-authorship papers and total link strength. The VosViewer displays four clusters related to lesson study: community, context, observation, and participation. Our strong recommendations regarding this study are lesson study research related to literacy, numeracy, and mathematical abilities. The results can assist relevant researchers in understanding trends in lesson study research and recommend guidelines for other studies.

Abstract

Higher-order thinking (HOT) skills are needed to analyze, evaluate, and solve problems. HOTS is an essential ability that students must have as a provision for the future and the 21st Century. However, no bibliometric research has linked Crossref, Scopus, and Google Scholar (GS) preferences on Harzing's Publish or Perish (PoP) software. This research aims to identify search preferences in PoP software version 8.9.4554.8721. The sample critical phrases entered in the preference menu are Higher-order thinking skills (HOTs) with a time range from 2018 to 2023. The library study research method used is bibliometric analysis. Metadata in the form of RIS/Refmanager files obtained from PoP is used to visualize data through VosViewer software. CSV data is used to identify top authors and top sources based on each preference. The phrases or keywords used were "HOTs," Mathematics" in GS, Crossref, and Scopus preferences. The results show four clusters of HOTS: ability, student, effect, and category. The top authors cited in Scopus are Hadi et al., Hobri et al. in GS, and Ichsan et al. in Crossref. HOTS needs to be researched more from various perspectives and methods. We recommend that future HOTS research be linked to real life to bridge the quite abstract concept of HOTS.
