Selecting the right vocabulary is crucial for building confidence, improving communication skills, and supporting reading and listening development. Flashcards are adaptable, providing engaging activities that reinforce word meanings and language concepts. Canva is recommended for creating customizable and engaging flashcards. Effective flashcards should include relevant words or phrases, clear definitions or translations, example sentences, and appropriate images or illustrations. The design should be clear, with large, easy-to-read letters, and a consistent format for each word. Regular review and a focus on design, visualization, and interactive activities can further enhance the learning experience. Engaging students in collaborative and evaluative activities also strengthens their understanding. Overall, by following these strategies, flashcards can be a powerful tool in introducing and reinforcing English vocabulary for young learners, with Canva serving as a valuable resource for creating effective learning materials.

Abstract

Customer complaints — they come in the form of an abusive email, a scathing online review, an awkward face-to-face meeting, or an unexpected phone call. It's hard to hear, but the customer complaints that result from you, your products, your staff, or your services fall short of expectations. Although difficult and inconvenient, handling customer complaints is an important part of doing business, and they must be handled properly.

Abstract

Phonological error analysis in this study is related to the pronunciation of sounds of language in communication. Given the importance of communication between speakers and listeners, it is imperative to conduct a study of the analysis of children with intellectual disability's phonological errors. This study aims to analyze phonological errors consisting of phonetics and phonemics in the vocabulary of children with intellectual disability in SLB (Special School) Insan Mandiri, Tanah Pak Lambiak Village, Padangpanjang City. The method employed was the descriptive qualitative method. The data collection method was the listening and speaking method called the Simak Libat Cakap (SLC) technique. The instruments were the researchers, 200 basic Morris Swadesh vocabularies, stationery, and recording devices (cellphones). Data analysis techniques employed were (1) classify, (2) describe, (3) analyze, (4) discuss or implement, and (5) conclude. Based on the findings, phonological errors generally occurred in the phonetic domain, especially in pronouncing vibration sounds due to an illness that inhibits the speaking process of children with intellectual disabilities. Several errors were found in the pronunciation of consonants and clusters in the phonemic domain. Therefore, constant attention, guidance, and practice are needed so children with intellectual disabilities can communicate well. In Islam, education is considered one of the important aspects of life. Thus, the principles of inclusion and attention to individuals with intellectual limitations should be applied to children with intellectual disabilities. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all individuals have equal access to religious education and moral values that are important in the Islamic religion.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the English-speaking skills of homicide students after implementing the role play learning method. Effective communication skills in English are crucial for nurses amidst global demands and interactions with patients from various backgrounds. The role play method is believed to be able to provide a safe environment simulation to practice speaking skills. This descriptive qualitative study involved 35 3rd semester students at Mohammad Natsir University Bukittinggi. Data were collected through participant observation during role play sessions, role play video recordings, and interviews with students. The results showed that role play significantly improved students' fluency (fluency), accuracy (accuracy), pronunciation (pronunciation), and interpersonal communication skills (interpersonal communication skills). Students showed increased confidence in speaking and the ability to adapt language to the clinical context. However, challenges related to specific medical understanding and early anxiety management still need to be addressed. Abstract

This research explores how YouTube can be used as a source of authentic economic discourse for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) learners, particularly in the field of economics. The official BBC News website could be accessed at https://www.bbc.com/news, which provided additional economic news articles and related video content for reference. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach to examine how BBC News economic videos on YouTube can serve as authentic materials for ESP in economics. Authentic materials, such as news reports, company documents, and interviews, present language in its natural form and expose learners to real professional discourse, vocabulary, and cultural nuances often absent in textbooks. Data were collected from BBC News economic content available on its YouTube channel and official website, providing credible, up-to-date coverage of topics like inflation, trade, and cryptocurrency. Findings indicate that integrating these videos into ESP instruction bridges classroom learning with workplace communication, enabling learners to develop both language proficiency and subject knowledge. A structured pre-viewing, while-viewing, and post-viewing framework supports comprehension and application through vocabulary preparation, active listening, and interactive follow-up tasks. The analysis identified six benefits: (1) rich vocabulary in context, (2) multimodal learning through narration, visuals, and data, (3) real-world relevance, (4) enhanced listening and critical thinking, (5) cultural and professional discourse awareness, and (6) integration of language and content following CLIL principles. The diversity of economic topics ensures exposure to various professional communication styles, making BBC News economic videos a valuable tool for developing vocabulary, comprehension, analytical skills, and professional communication abilities in economics-focused ESP learners.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PKM) implemented in Malaysia has opened up opportunities for international collaboration in developing information technology (IT) innovations to support the digital transformation of cooperatives in higher education settings. This activity underscored the importance of adapting technology to cooperative management systems to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Through a pilot study of digital cooperative models such as ANGKASA in Malaysia, participants gained insights into the implementation of integrated application-based information systems, the use of big data in membership management, and the optimization of digital platforms for financial reporting. The results of this activity demonstrated that the adoption of IT technology in Indonesian higher education cooperatives can strengthen institutional competitiveness, accelerate service processes, and increase active member participation. This PKM also reflects that the synergy between technological innovation and higher education-based cooperative governance is a strategic step towards modern and competitive cooperatives in the ASEAN digital era.
