Abstract

Remote workers from Generation Z and Millennial increasingly seek new job opportunities when required to return to entirely on-site work. This trend highlights the critical importance of work-life balance and work flexibility policies for these demographics. As such, flexibility and balance are essential priorities that companies must incorporate into their workplace strategies. This study examines the moderating role of resilience in the relationship between work flexibility and work-life balance. The inclusion of resilience as a moderator seeks to address the inconsistent findings observed in prior studies concerning the impact of work flexibility on work-life balance. The research involved a purposive sample of 132 Generation Z and Millennial employees working in startup companies across Indonesia. Data analyzed using Smart Partial Least Square version 4.0. The results revealed that both work flexibility and resilience significantly influence work-life balance. However, resilience did not significantly moderate the relationship between work flexibility and work-life balance. These findings imply that while resilient individuals experience better work-life balance, resilience alone does not enhance the benefits of flexible work arrangements. For startup companies, offering flexibility remains a key strategy for supporting work-life balance. At the same time, organizations can further support their employees by fostering personal development and well-being through programs that build resilience. Combining both approaches may lead to a healthier, more motivated, and more productive workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Islamic financial literacy, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to use Islamic banks in Indonesia. Specifically, this study investigates the indirect effect of Islamic financial literacy on the intention to use Islamic banks through attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Data were obtained through a survey of 572 students from Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia and processed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that Islamic financial literacy significantly influences attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control regarding Islamic banking services. Subsequently, these factors (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control) were proven to be strong predictors of an individual's intention to use Islamic banks. These findings validate the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in Islamic banking, showing that Islamic financial literacy is a key factor influencing TPB. This study highlights the importance of financial literacy education in increasing the adoption of Islamic banking services. By promoting Islamic financial literacy within university programs, future graduates will have a deeper understanding of Islamic banking principles (such as the prohibition of riba, risk-sharing, and asset-backed financing). This awareness will enhance the likelihood of choosing Islamic banking services and advocating them within society.

Abstract

Various studies have recognized the importance of the resilience aspect for individuals to be able to rise and overcome all challenges, especially the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the important aspects for individuals to be able to survive is the aspect of balance between personal and work-life balance (WLB). On the other hand, this aspect of WLB is also a determining factor for individual engagement with the organization (work engagement) so that employees can be loyal to the organization. For this reason, this study aims to examine the work-life balance and organizational resilience to work engagement for employees who work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses an explanatory quantitative approach with data collection methods using questionnaires that will be distributed online and processed using Partial Least Square (PLS) using 130 respondents. The results showed a positive and significant effect between the work-life balance on work engagement, work-life balance on organizational resilience, and organizational resilience on work engagement. The results also show the mediating role of organizational resilience on the effect of work-life balance on work engagement.

Abstract

Cyberloafing is a recent organizational behavior that arises due to easy access to the internet, allowing employees to use company-provided internet facilities for non-work-related activities. Previous researches have attempted to identify variables that influence cyberloafing, including work stress and workload. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of workload dimensions (psychological workload and physical workload) on cyberloafing behavior, mediated by work stress, within the banking sector of Malang City. This study uses an explanatory quantitative approach with data collection methods through online questionnaires . The responses of 148 participants are analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The result shows that workload does not significantly affect cyberloafing behavior. However, workload does have a positive and significant influence on work stress, which in turn positively and significantly affects cyberloafing behavior. Work stress acts as a mediator between workload and employee cyberloafing behavior in the banking sector of Malang city. Furthermore, the study highlights the benefits of regular breaks from work in the form of cyberloafing, as it allows employees to recharge their energy and serves as an effective defense against workplace stress. Keywords: banking, behavior, cyberloafing, workload, work stress

Abstract

The unexpected condition caused by coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in late December 2019 that spread all over the world has changed the human resource workforce. One of the Indonesian government decisions to reduce the infection is home base teleworking (working from home) policies for mostly all sectors in Indonesia, one of them is the public sector. This new work style that has never been experienced before may cause psychological stress of workload and affect satisfaction. This research aims to measure the effects of teleworking on job satisfaction mediated by the workload in 168 public sector workers all over Indonesia. Data obtained using an online questionnaire from February – March 2020 and analyzed use Smart-PLS software. The result showed that teleworking has a significant effect on the workload, but not significant effect on job satisfaction. Workload has a negative and not significant effect on job satisfaction. Hence, the workload is not the best predictor for mediating the effect of teleworking and  job satisfaction. Workers in the public sector feeling more stressed during teleworking and it caused their job satisfaction to decrease. This kind of situation can be a sign for the decision-maker on how to improve their worker's job satisfaction during the teleworking.
