Abstract

Liquefied Petroleum Gas Carriers (LPG/C) play a critical role in national energy distribution systems; however, their cargo discharge operations carry significant technical risks, particularly the phenomenon of high pressure that can trigger a Cargo Temporary Stop. This study aims to identify the causative factors of high pressure during cargo discharge operations, analyze the mechanism leading to Cargo Temporary Stop, and formulate preventive measures aboard LPG/C Prima Lautan I.

Abstract

The ballasting and deballasting process is an important operational activity that plays a role in maintaining the stability and safety of the ship during the voyage. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause the ballasting and deballasting process to be not optimal and the efforts made to optimize it on MV. DK 03. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation related to the ballast system. The results showed that the ballasting and deballasting process was not maximized due to several factors, including ballast pipe leakage due to corrosion, damage or congestion in the ballast valve, and decreased ballast pump performance. These factors are interrelated and have a direct impact on ship stability, operational efficiency, and increase Crew workload in managing ship balance. The efforts made to overcome these problems are routine maintenance of the ballast system, installation of zinc anodes as protection against corrosion in ballast pipes and tanks, inspection and repair of ballast valves, and proper handling of ballast pump damage. By implementing these efforts in a consistent and integrated manner, it is expected that the ballasting and deballasting process can run more effectively, safely, and be able to support ship stability during shipping activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the low level crew for awareness regarding the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and to identify the efforts made by the ship’s master to improve PPE awareness in order to prevent occupational accidents aboard LPG/C Prima Lautan I. This research employed a qualitative methode with descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentasion, while data analysis was conducted using fishbone analysis, which categorizes the causes of problems into five aspects: man, methode, machine, management, and environment.
