Abstract

Background. Religious diversity in contemporary societies, particularly in Indonesia, presents challenges related to intolerance, exclusivist religious interpretations, and identity-based tensions among students. Islamic educational institutions play a strategic role in addressing these challenges by internalizing Qur’anic values that promote tolerance and religious moderation. Purpose. This study aims to explore how Qur’anic values of tolerance derived from Al-Kafirun verse 6 and Al-Baqarah verse 256 are internalized in shaping students’ religious moderation at SMK Muhammadiyah Berau. Method. This research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom and school observations, and document analysis involving Islamic education teachers, school leaders, and students. The data were analysed using an interactive qualitative model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Results. The findings reveal that the internalization of Qur’anic tolerance operates through the integration of institutional policies, pedagogical practices, and students’ lived experiences. Qur’anic values are embedded in school regulations, dialogical teaching approaches, character education programs, and daily social interactions. Supporting factors include strong school leadership, inclusive school culture, and teacher role modeling, while challenges arise from external influences such as social media and diverse family backgrounds. Conclusion. The study demonstrates that consistent and inclusive internalization of Qur’anic teachings effectively fosters students’ religious moderation without weakening Islamic identity. These findings highlight the importance of integrating Qur’anic values into school culture and pedagogy as a strategic approach to promoting social harmony in pluralistic educational contexts.

Abstract

Islamic Studies programs in Indonesian higher education have traditionally been rooted in classical, discipline-specific methodologies, which face challenges in addressing complex contemporary issues. This study aimed to identify and analyze the primary challenges and emerging opportunities for integrating interdisciplinary approaches within this field. A qualitative, multi-site case study methodology was employed, focusing on leading Islamic universities in Indonesia. Data were collected through curriculum analysis, policy document review, and in-depth interviews with faculty, academic leaders, and students. The results indicate that significant challenges persist, including institutional rigidity, disciplinary silos, and a faculty trained in mono-disciplinary traditions. However, substantial opportunities are emerging, driven by new government accreditation standards that favor interdisciplinarity and growing student demand for programs that connect Islamic sciences with social sciences, technology, and humanities. The study concludes that while structural and paradigmatic hurdles are significant, the push for interdisciplinary approaches presents a critical opportunity to revitalize Islamic Studies, enhancing its relevance and intellectual contribution to addressing modern societal challenges.

Abstract

The shift toward hybrid education models has redefined parental roles in early childhood learning, particularly in literacy and numeracy development. This study investigates the function of parents as co-facilitators within a hybrid learning program designed for children aged 4–6 years in Indonesian preschools. The research responds to the growing need for parental engagement in digital-assisted instruction, especially following the pandemic’s acceleration of home-based learning. The main objective is to evaluate how structured parental involvement influences children’s literacy and numeracy outcomes when supported by hybrid pedagogical strategies. A mixed-method design was employed, combining quantitative assessment of 120 children’s progress across three learning cycles with qualitative interviews involving 40 parents and 10 teachers. Instruments included performance rubrics for literacy and numeracy, digital activity logs, and parent reflection journals. The data revealed that children whose parents acted as co-facilitators demonstrated a 28% higher improvement in early literacy and a 24% increase in numeracy mastery compared to peers with minimal parental support. Qualitative findings underscored the importance of parental scaffolding, consistency in learning routines, and emotional engagement as critical mediators of learning success. The study concludes that hybrid learning programs in early childhood education are most effective when parents are equipped and empowered to function as co-facilitators rather than passive observers. The integration of family-centered design principles within digital learning ecosystems enhances not only academic performance but also socio-emotional resilience and motivation among young learners.

Abstract

The growing prevalence of hybrid learning has brought not only pedagogical innovation but also environmental concerns related to the digital infrastructure supporting education. This study examines the carbon footprint of hybrid learning environments, focusing on the energy consumption of devices, data centers, and network systems in Indonesian universities. The research aims to quantify energy use patterns in digital education and propose pathways toward sustainability in hybrid learning models. A mixed-method approach was adopted, combining quantitative analysis of institutional energy consumption data with qualitative interviews involving IT managers, educators, and policymakers. Life cycle assessment (LCA) techniques were applied to measure the carbon emissions associated with online teaching platforms, hardware utilization, and classroom technologies. Results revealed that hybrid learning systems consume 25–40% more energy than traditional classrooms, primarily due to prolonged use of cloud-based services and audiovisual streaming. However, the integration of smart energy management systems and renewable-powered data centers demonstrated a potential 30% reduction in total emissions. Qualitative data highlighted a lack of institutional awareness about digital sustainability, indicating that environmental education must be integrated into hybrid learning policies. The study concludes that achieving sustainable hybrid education requires a holistic redesign of digital infrastructure, integrating green computing, eco-efficient pedagogy, and behavioral awareness among users. These findings contribute to the emerging discourse on the ecological impact of educational technology and propose actionable strategies for carbon reduction in the digital learning ecosystem.

Abstract

Background. Corporate criminal liability for environmental damage represents a growing area of concern in legal discourse, especially as industrial expansion continues to exert profound ecological and social consequences. The current legal framework in Indonesia, though progressive in recognizing corporate accountability under Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management, remains inconsistent in enforcement and interpretation. Purpose. The study aims to analyze the juridical construction of corporate criminal liability for environmental harm by examining recent judicial decisions and identifying normative challenges that hinder effective application. Method. The research employs a qualitative juridical-normative approach, focusing on statutory interpretation, court rulings, and doctrinal analysis, supported by case studies involving corporate environmental violations between 2018 and 2023 Results. The findings reveal that enforcement inconsistencies stem from vague statutory definitions, limited institutional coordination, and judicial reluctance to impose criminal sanctions on corporate entities. The analysis also highlights the absence of clear parameters for attributing mens rea and corporate culpability within collective decision-making structures.   Conclusion. The study concludes that achieving environmental justice requires reforming Indonesia’s legal doctrine through clearer legislative standards, stronger prosecutorial mechanisms, and incorporation of restorative justice principles. This transformation is essential for aligning environmental governance with sustainable development and corporate accountability.
