Abstract

This research is a development study using the Four-D Model development model. The research instruments used in this study were interview guidelines for teachers, student questionnaires, validity test questionnaires, and practicality test questionnaires. The LKPD was validated by two lecturers from the Department of Biology, FMIPA UNP, one biology teacher, and 28 students from MAN 1 Kota Padang Phase E Academic Year 2025/2026 to test the practicality of the product. Based on the results of the initial and final analysis, the LKPD developed is a PjBL-STEM-based LKPD on biodiversity material for Phase E students. The validity of the PjBL-STEM-based LKPD is 88.64% (highly valid), and the practicality test results by teachers are 90.97% (highly practical) and practicality scores by students are 89.97% (highly practical). The average practicality test results by teachers and students were 90.47% (very practical). Thus, the developed LKPD is highly valid and highly practical.

Abstract

This study analyzes the ethnobotanical utilization of medicinal plants in West Sumatra based on the traditional Minangkabau territorial systems (Darek, Rantau, and Pesisir) and examines its implications for contextual science education. A mixed descriptive–quantitative ethnobotanical approach was employed involving 240 key informants (105 from Darek, 90 from Rantau, and 45 from Pesisir) selected through purposive and snowball sampling. Data were collected using structured interviews, participatory observation, and species documentation. Quantitative ethnobotanical indices, including Use Value (UV) and Fidelity Level (FL), were applied. The results identified 38 medicinal plant species from 24 families. Curcuma longa (UV=0.88), Zingiber officinale (UV=0.84), and Tinospora crispa (UV=0.81) were the most culturally important species. High FL values were observed for Andrographis paniculata in fever treatment (92.1%) and Curcuma longa for digestive disorders (89.6%), indicating strong cultural reliability. The findings demonstrate that Minangkabau ethnobotanical knowledge is territorially structured, culturally transmitted, and empirically reliable. This study provides a scientific foundation for the development of ethnoscience-based science learning resources, supporting contextual learning, scientific literacy, and cultural preservation in Indonesian secondary education

Abstract

DM Triguna High School is a private high school in Padang City. Several problems exist, including low student awareness of waste sorting and the lack of separate trash bins. The solution is to conduct education to increase awareness and action on separate waste processing. This activity aims to increase student awareness about the need for separate waste management and how to process it. Additionally, the school is equipped with separate trash bins to promote environmental awareness among students. The results obtained from this Community Service activity are data on the knowledge of community service participants before and after the training. There was an increase from an average score of 63.11 before education to 77.55 after schooling was provided. This indicates a growth of 22.87%. This data illustrates that community service activities have a positive impact on the knowledge of student participants and have an impact on partners.

Abstract

The low scientific literacy skills of Indonesian students, as indicated by the results of the 2023 PISA (Philosophy of Biology), are a problem that requires serious attention in the world of education. This study aims to examine the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' scientific literacy skills in biology learning. The method used was a systematic literature review approach to eight articles from national journals published in the last five years. The results of the study showed that all articles consistently demonstrated the positive and significant influence of the PBL model on students' scientific literacy skills in various biology materials, such as the excretory system, environmental change, and viruses. The advantage of PBL lies in its contextual problem-based approach that encourages students to think critically, conduct scientific inquiries, and integrate scientific concepts with real-life situations. The integration of PBL with the STEM approach has also been shown to further optimize the improvement of scientific literacy. It is concluded that the PBL model is an effective learning strategy and is recommended for improving students' scientific literacy skills in biology learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of an essay-based assessment instrument developed to measure university students’ critical thinking skills in a contextual learning setting with local cultural integration. The instrument was constructed based on critical thinking indicators proposed by (Ennis, 2011) and embedded within environmental science content and the Kenduri Sko cultural tradition. Five expert validators assessed the instrument using a validation sheet covering five aspects: content relevance, item construction, language clarity, practicality, and cultural sensitivity. The results show that all aspects received an average score above 3.80, with an overall feasibility percentage of 96.15%, categorized as highly feasible. In addition, qualitative feedback from validators recommended minor revisions in question instructions and refinement of the scoring rubric. Overall, the instrument is considered suitable for use as an authentic assessment tool in culturally contextualized learning in higher education. Further empirical testing and reliability analysis are recommended for broader implementation

Abstract

Permasalahan food waste semakin parah disebabkan oleh kebiasaan konsumsi yang tidak efisien dan kurangnya kesadaran, yang berujung pada pemborosan sumber daya serta dampak negarif terhadap lingkungan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengintegrasikan isu limbah makanan dan prinsip ekonomi sirkular ke dalam pengajaran materi sistem pencernaan melalui model Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek, guna meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang konsep biologi, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan kesadaran akan keberlanjutan. Melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek, siswa diharapkan mampu menghubungkan konsep sistem pencernaan dengan masalah dunia nyata yang berkaitan dengan limbah makanan dan mengembangkan solusi yang dapat diterapkan dan berorientasi pada keberlanjutan. Studi ini menggunakan metode tinjauan pustaka yang mengacu pada lima artikel penelitian nasional dan internasional yang relevan dan meneliti bagaimana Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek, Limbah Makanan, dan Metode Ekonomi Sirkular diintegrasikan ke dalam materi sistem pencernaan dalam pembelajaran biologi. Lima artikel yang dianalisis menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PjBL secara konsisten terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan pemahaman konseptual peserta didik, khususnya pada pembelajaran IPAS materi sistem pencernaan manusia.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health knowledge and attitudes are important determinants in preventing risky sexual behaviors such as unintended pregnancy, abortion, and sexually transmitted infections. However, various studies indicate that adolescents' knowledge levels remain low and their attitudes toward reproductive health tend to be less positive. This literature review aimed to synthesize current empirical evidence on adolescent reproductive health from the perspective of knowledge and attitudes, identify determinant factors, and evaluate the effectiveness of various reproductive health education interventions. A comprehensive literature search was conducted through three major databases (Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Portal Garuda) with inclusion criteria of articles published between 2014-2026, written in Indonesian or English, and discussing variables of adolescent reproductive health knowledge and attitudes. A total of 15 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed thematically. The review findings indicate that adolescent reproductive health knowledge generally remains in the low to moderate category, while attitudes toward premarital sexual behavior are strongly influenced by educational factors, information access, parental roles, family structure, pornography exposure, peer pressure, and sociocultural norms. Reproductive health education interventions based on schools, communities, families, digital technology, and peer mentorship approaches have proven effective in improving adolescents' knowledge and positive attitudes, although effectiveness varies depending on methods and context. This review concludes that a holistic approach integrating knowledge improvement, attitude strengthening, as well as family and health system support is essential to comprehensively address adolescent reproductive health problems. Future research is recommended to employ longitudinal designs with standardized instruments to establish stronger causal relationships. ABSTRAK Pengetahuan dan sikap kesehatan reproduksi remaja merupakan faktor determinan penting dalam mencegah perilaku seksual berisiko seperti kehamilan tidak direncanakan, aborsi, dan infeksi menular seksual. Namun, berbagai studi menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan remaja masih rendah dan sikap mereka terhadap kesehatan reproduksi cenderung kurang positif. Tinjauan literatur ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis bukti empiris terkini mengenai kesehatan reproduksi remaja dalam perspektif pengetahuan dan sikap, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor determinan, serta mengevaluasi efektivitas berbagai intervensi pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi. Pencarian literatur dilakukan secara komprehensif melalui tiga basis data utama (Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, dan Portal Garuda) dengan kriteria inklusi artikel yang dipublikasikan pada rentang waktu 2021-2026, berbahasa Indonesia atau Inggris, serta membahas variabel pengetahuan dan sikap kesehatan reproduksi remaja. Sebanyak 15 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil tinjauan menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan kesehatan reproduksi remaja secara umum masih berada pada kategori rendah hingga sedang, sementara sikap terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah sangat dipengaruhi oleh faktor pendidikan, akses informasi, peran orang tua, struktur keluarga, paparan pornografi, tekanan teman sebaya, dan norma sosial budaya. Intervensi pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi berbasis sekolah, komunitas, keluarga, teknologi digital, maupun pendekatan teman sebaya terbukti efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap positif remaja, meskipun efektivitasnya bervariasi tergantung metode dan konteks. Simpulan tinjauan ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan holistik yang mengintegrasikan peningkatan pengetahuan, penguatan sikap, serta dukungan keluarga dan sistem layanan kesehatan sangat diperlukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan kesehatan reproduksi remaja secara komprehensif. Penelitian selanjutnya direkomendasikan menggunakan desain longitudinal dengan instrumen baku untuk menetapkan hubungan kausalitas yang lebih kuat.
