Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in improving elementary school students’ problem-solving and mathematical representation abilities. This research employs a literature review method by analyzing various relevant journal articles. The findings indicate that the RME approach enhances students’ problem-solving skills through a systematic thinking process, including understanding the problem, planning strategies, implementing solutions, and evaluating results. In addition, RME improves students’ mathematical representation abilities in various forms, such as visual, symbolic, verbal, and tabular or graphical representations. These two abilities are closely interconnected and mutually supportive in developing a more comprehensive understanding of mathematics. Therefore, the RME approach is considered effective and relevant in creating meaningful mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of elementary school students’ understanding of science concepts due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods and the limited use of interactive media in the classroom. The study aims to analyze and synthesize the effectiveness of interactive learning media in improving the understanding of science concepts through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research method followed the PRISMA guidelines and the SPAR-4-SLR framework, with data sources from Google Scholar spanning the years 2022–2026, resulting in 10 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. The results indicate that all studies consistently reported a significant improvement in science concept understanding, evidenced by increases in pretest-posttest scores, statistical test results, and media usability ratings. Media with high interactivity and visualization, such as augmented reality, interactive multimedia, and animated videos, demonstrated optimal effectiveness. Additionally, the effectiveness of the media was influenced by design quality, content appropriateness, and teacher competence. Thus, interactive learning media have proven effective when appropriately integrated into instruction.

Abstract

Rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa sekolah dasar di era digital menjadi tantangan, sementara Kurikulum Merdeka menuntut pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran. Augmented Reality (AR) muncul sebagai solusi potensial, namun bukti empiris mengenai efektivitasnya masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mensintesis bukti empiris tentang efektivitas AR dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa SD. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan protokol PRISMA pada database Google Scholar dan Garuda (2021-2026). Seleksi sistematis menghasilkan 12 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 8 dari 12 artikel dengan desain pretest-posttest melaporkan peningkatan motivasi belajar yang signifikan secara statistik (p < 0,05). Efektivitas AR dipengaruhi oleh empat faktor: durasi penggunaan, integrasi dengan strategi pembelajaran aktif, ketersediaan infrastruktur, dan keterpaduan materi abstrak. AR terbukti paling efektif pada topik abstrak seperti tata surya, bangun ruang, dan habitat hewan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa AR efektif meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa SD, dengan rekomendasi penggunaan AR minimal 4–6 pertemuan yang dipadukan dengan pembelajaran aktif, serta perlunya penelitian lanjutan dengan desain eksperimental yang lebih ketat

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between assessment and science learning objectives at SDN 80/1 Muara Bulian. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects of this study were teachers and students involved in science learning activities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that learning objectives had been developed based on existing teaching documents; however, they were still general and not fully elaborated into specific and measurable indicators. The implementation of assessment in science learning was dominated by written tests focusing on cognitive aspects. Meanwhile, learning objectives emphasizing science process skills were not fully supported by appropriate forms of assessment. In addition, several constraints were identified, including limited time, large class sizes, and limited ability to design varied assessment instruments. In conclusion, the relationship between assessment and learning objectives exists but is not yet fully aligned. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve alignment through more specific formulation of learning objectives and the development of more varied and authentic assessment practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of diagnostic assessments in identifying the learning interests of fourth-grade students in science education at SD 40/I Bajubang Laut. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation and in-depth interviews with the classroom teacher and six students selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that students’ learning interests generally fall into the moderate category, accounting for 60%, with the dimensions of enjoyment and curiosity being relatively higher compared to the dimensions of attention and active engagement. The interviews revealed significant diversity in learning profiles, including active-enthusiastic students with low self-regulation, independent-inquisitive students with very high interest, and students with moderate interest who require more intensive scaffolding. The implementation of diagnostic assessments by teachers was found to remain informal and predominantly focused on the cognitive dimension, while non-cognitive diagnostic assessments to map interests and learning styles have not yet been formally and standardizedly implemented.

Abstract

Interest in learning serves as a pivotal psychological driver for achieving scientific literacy in primary education. Despite its importance, empirical evidence suggests that students frequently regard Natural Sciences (IPA) as an intricate and theoretical discipline. This research employs a descriptive qualitative literature review to explore the strategic influence of teachers in enhancing students' engagement with science. The findings underscore that teachers act as critical determinants by assuming multifaceted roles as instructional architects, motivators, facilitators, technological innovators, and evaluators. Through the synergy of these functions, educators can reshape negative student attitudes by fostering inclusive environments and utilizing tangible instructional tools. Ultimately, this study asserts that the professional ingenuity of teachers in delivering pedagogical stimuli is essential for establishing a robust scientific foundation for the next generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ readiness in designing deep learning through the utilization of the surrounding environment as a concrete medium in science subjects at the elementary school level. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. The research subjects consisted of fourth-grade elementary school teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that some teachers have a basic understanding of deep learning concepts; however, they have not optimally integrated the surrounding environment as a concrete medium in lesson planning. Several challenges were identified, including limited time, lack of training, and insufficient references for contextual learning. Nevertheless, the use of the surrounding environment has proven to enhance student engagement and understanding in a more meaningful way. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve teachers’ competencies through training and mentoring programs to support the development of innovative, contextual, and experience-based learning designs.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) di sekolah dasar pada dasarnya diharapkan tidak sekadar menyampaikan materi, tetapi juga menerapkan pendekatan deep learning. Siswa diajak untuk benar-benar terlibat dalam proses berpikir kritis serta memahami secara mendalam berbagai fenomena yang terjadi di lingkungan alam dan sosial mereka. Namun, kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran IPAS masih sering berlangsung monoton, berpusat pada guru, dan cenderung bersifat prosedural. Kondisi ini menghambat pengembangan kemampuan berpikir mendalam siswa untuk memahami hubungan konsep IPAS secara mendalam. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji bagaimana pemanfaatan media digital dalam mengatasi rendahnya implementasi deep learning pembelajaran IPAS di sekolah khusunya sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode studi literatur yang dianalisis secara deskriptif-analitis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa media digital berperan sebagai learning tools yang mampu meningkatkan interaktivitas, memfasilitasi eksplorasi fenomena IPAS, serta mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam proses berpikir analitis dan reflektif. Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan media digital dapat menjadi strategi pedagogis dalam memperkuat implementasi deep learning pada pembelajaran IPAS di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out how the use of simulation Physics Education Technology, or PhET, on students' critical thinking skills in science learning in elementary school impacts their abilities. A systematic literature review (SLR) is used, which includes the collection and analysis of scientific articles from a variety of sources. Of the 100 articles found, only 12 met the criteria for in-depth analysis after further review. The results of the study show that the PhET is able to enhance student-centered learning and help them understand abstract concepts through interactive visualization. Additionally, it has proven to be effective when used in conjunction with active learning models such as research-based learning and problem-oriented learning.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited number of studies that comprehensively examine the implementation of reward and punishment in improving elementary school students’ discipline, despite its significant impact on the quality of the learning process and character development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of reward and punishment on student discipline and to examine the effectiveness of these strategies in shaping disciplined behavior. This study adopts a qualitative approach using a library research design, with data sources derived from various scholarly literatures selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings indicate that rewards have a positive influence on enhancing students’ motivation and discipline, while appropriately implemented punishment can reduce violations and improve compliance with rules. These findings are consistent with reinforcement theory, which highlights the role of external stimuli in shaping behavior. The study concludes that the combination of reward and punishment is an effective strategy for improving student discipline in elementary schools. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the literature on character education strategies and practical recommendations for teachers to apply a balanced approach in classroom management. This study also suggests the need for further empirical research to examine the effectiveness of these strategies in real classroom settings.
