Transformatika: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajarannya is an e-journal published by Universitas Tidar. The research article submitted to this online journal will be peer-reviewed at least 2 (two) reviewers. Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through initial review processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to peer reviewer (Mitra Bestari) and will go to the next selection by the double-blind review process. After that, the articles will be returned to the authors to revise. These processes take a month for a maximum time. In each manuscript, peer reviewer will be rated from the substantial and technical aspects. Final decision of articles acceptance will be made by editors according to reviewers comments. Peer reviewer that collaboration with Transformatika: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajarannya is the experts in the linguistics, literature, and their teaching area and issues around it. They were experienced in the prestigious journal management and publication that was spread around the nation and abroad.

Abstract

This research was aimed to review the developing of bahasa Indonesia learning model integrated to the anticorruption education in the 7thgrade 1st semester of 1 Tembarak State Junior High School. The subject of the research was the semester 1 students of 1 Tembarak State Junior High School. The number of the participant was 40. The research was started by analyzing the students’ need by means of delivering the questionnaire and doing interview sessions. The aim of the research was to generate a product, in this case, abahasa Indonesia learning model integrated with anti-corruption education.The researcher conducted several steps in analyzing the data namely taking inventory of the data based on the overall findings, classifying the data, identifying the data based on the found special characteristics, and having reflection. The developmental research was the development of learning model in the form of bahasa Indonesia learning material linked to the anti-corruption education. The learning model of bahasa Indonesia that had been integrated with the anti-corruption education was tested to the students in the subject class. The result of the test was evaluated in order to see the product effectiveness. Then, the learning model was revised in order to improve the already designed material.This research generated a bahasa Indonesia learning model integrated with the anti-corruption education for 7th grade 1st semester students.Key Words : corruption, education, anti-corruption, integration, development

Abstract

 Conversation is verbal interaction that takes place in an order and organized and involves two or more parties in order to achieve certain objectives as a form of communication events. When the conversation does not meet the rules of the communication, failure is diagnosed. Conversation failure was effected due to a violation of the principles of politeness and cooperation. This study was conducted in SMP Maarif Tlogomulyo by analyzing teachers and students conversations in learning process. The results of this research were 1) students did a violate of the maxim of quantity, quality, relevancy, and the thimble way, 2) students did a violate of the principle of politeness in the interaction in the classroom. This was influenced by many factors, particularly the influence of the environment and level of education. Using local utterances was highly recommended to preserve the local culture, but more harmonious when it was used in a good and polite conversation.Keywords      : violation of the principle of cooperation, principle of politeness, and verbal speech acts

Abstract

Mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, dipersiapkan menjadi guru Bahasa Inggris dan mereka akan menjadi model bagi siswa. Namun demikian fakta menunjukkan beberapa guru pemula tidak dapat berbicara Bahasa Inggris dengan lancar dan tepat. Berkaitan dengan tuntutan jaman,  abad 21 ini adalah era yang kekuatan suatu bangsa ditentukan oleh kualitas sumber daya manusia. Menyadari fakta tersebut, pemerintah Indonesia memperhatikan kualitas hasil pendidikan.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keaktifan siswa dalam perkuliahan Speaking dan untuk mendeskripsikan pendidikan karakter dalam perkuliahan Speaking. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang menggambarkan kondisi nyata perkuliahan Speaking 1 di prodi. Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Tidar. Subyek penelitian ini 30 mahasiswa semester 2 yang mengambil mata kuliah Speaking. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah dosen Speaking 1 di prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, kegiatan belajar mengajar, dan dokumen termasuk silabus, RPP, dan dokumen lain yang relevan.Berdasarkan analisis data,  peneliti menyimpulkan pertama mahasiswa kurang aktif dalam kelas Speaking sehingga keterampilan berbicara mereka rendah, kedua nilai karakter mahasiswa kurang dikembangkan dengan baik khususnya pada nilai kerjasama, kejujuran dan toleransi.Keywords: Speaking Course, Activeness, Character Building

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ekspresi deiksis yang digunakan pada komik Julius Caesar dan untuk mengetahui frekuensi penggunaan ekspresi deiksis. Objek penelitian ini adalah tokoh-tokoh utama dalam komik seperti Caesar, Brutus, and Cassius. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menerapkan tahapan Miles dan Huberman (1994) yaitu reduksi data, display data, dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa deiksis personal digunakan secara dominan pada setiap bab dengan penggunaan rata-rata di atas 90% daripada deiksis tempat, waktu, wacana, dan sosial, dimana komik merupakan wujud bahasa lisan yang dituliskan.Kata kunci: Semantics, deixis, written text, spoken text

Abstract

Setiap bahasa mempunyai deixis yang berbeda-beda, karena setiap bahasa mempunyai perbedaan aturan dan latar belakang budaya. Penggunaan dan aturan yang berbeda ini terkadang akan menyulitkan seseorang atau siswa yang bukan seorang native speaker untuk mempelajari bahasa baru, karena ia juga harus mempelajari tentang budaya dimana suatu bahasa itu ada. Jika ia tidak mempelajari itu, komunikasi menjadi tidak seimbang dan mungkin akan melakukan atau mengucapkan sesuatu yang tidak seharusnya. Jika hal ini terjadi, akan menimbulkan kecenderungan untuk terjadi kesalah pahaman. Jadi jika seseorang ingin mempelajari bahasa, harus mempelajari juga tentang aturan dan latar belakang budaya bahasa tersebut. Selain kita juga harus mengetahui aspek lainnya seperti karakter pembicara, tujuan, permasalahan dan situasi dalam pembicaraan.  Kata Kunci : Deixis, pembelajar dan perbedaan budaya

Abstract

Dalam proses belajar-mengajar bahasa Inggris terdapat empat keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh pembelajar, yaitu listening, speaking, reading, dan writing. Salah satu keterampilan yang dianggap sebagian pembelajar bahasa Inggris sebagai keterampilan tersulit untuk dikuasai adalah writing. Salah satu teknik yang dapat digunakan untuk pengajaran writing adalah teknik dictogloss. Tahap reconstruction pada teknik dictogloss memfasilitasi pembelajar untuk merekonstruksi teks yang telah disampaikan dengan mempergunakan bahasa mereka sendiri. Selanjutnya, tahap correction-analysis menyediakan feedback yang memfasilitasi pembelajar untuk mengoreksi kesalahan-kesalahan pada aspek-aspek writing, seperti content, organization, language use, dan mechanics.Kata kunci: assessing writing, dictogloss technique, writing

Abstract

This article focuses on analyzing of expressive illocutionary act in the Big Bad Wolf: The Baddest Day comic and its translation Serigala Jahat: Hari Terburuk. Besides, classifying the type of expressive illocutionary actin the comic, it is also studied the techniques used by translator in translating expressive illocutionary act from source text to the target text. By using techniques used by translator, it could be seen the quality of translation in the term of accuracy of translation.This is descriptive qualitative research in the form of embedded research with single-case study design.The data collecting was conducted through content analysis.In this research it can be found that there are 31 expressive illocutionary act in the Big Bad Wolf: The Baddest Day comic and its translation Serigala Jahat: Hari Terburuk. The 61% of the data are considered as accurate translation, and the 31% of the data are considered as less accurate translation. It can be concluded that in translating expressive illocutionary act in a comic, it can not only look at the utterances of the speaker, but also the visualization and the context situation of the picture in the comic.Keywords:speech act, illocutionary, expressive illocutionary act, translating comic, translation accuracy.

Abstract

This researcher was motivated to conduct this study because of the less ability of the leaener to write poetry. It coud be seen from the average score of the pretest of poetry writing which only reached 73. The purpose of the study was to improve motivation and the learning result of poetry writing in the students of VIIIA of SMPN 3 Sragi, Pekalongan by applying Timlo aplication of Copy the Master Technique. The method used in this Class Action Research was using two cycles. The subjects were 32 students of class VIII A. The result showed that there was a significant improvement in learning the technique of poetry wriring. The average score of pretest was 73. After the applying Timlo technique, the average score of the cycle I was 79.88 and it increased in the cycle II to 84.00. The increasing score from the pretest to the first cycle was 68.8%. Meanwhile, the increasing score from cycle I to cycle II was 41.2%. In addition, there was an increasing motivation of the students for learning to poetry writing. Thus, it was suggested for Indonesian subject’s teacher for using this model in teching and learning process.Keywords: motivation, learning outcomes, writing poetry, timlo engineering, copy the master

Abstract

Kemampuan menulis Bahasa Inggris adalah salah satu kemampuan berbahasa yang dianggap paling kompleks karena melibatkan berbagai kemampuan kognitif dan linguistik. Secara konvensional, pembelajaran menulis dilakukan dengan pendekatan genre dimana siswa mengembangkan karangan secara bertahap mulai dari penggalian ide hingga merevisi karangan. Proses itu sendiri tidak terlalu jelas tahapannya, namun secara umum meliputi kegiatan penggalian ide, penyusunan draf, dan perbaikan/revisi. Pengamatan perhadap pembelajaran menulis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pemantauan yang pasti terhadap proses menulis, dalam arti, proses yang dilakukan dengan susah payah tersebut hanya diakui melalui penilaian terhadap produknya, yaitu draf terakhir atau hasil karangan. Dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, menulis paragrap merupakan keterampilan yang paling mudah diukur dengan menggunakan test obyektif sehingga paling banyak digunakan dalam Ujian, seperti Ujian Nasional, Ujian Tengah Semester, Ujian Akhir Semester, Ujian Kenaikan Kelas, dan bahkan Ulangan Harian. Ini membuktikan bahwa kemampuan menulis harus dipandang sebagai keterampilan yang sangat penting sehingga peserta didik perlu mendapat pembelajaran yang baik supaya mereka mahir dalam memahami wacana berbahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: Teaching Writing, Genre Approaches, “UN” Reading Test

Abstract

This research aimed at (1) identifying the realization of prohibition utterances and (2) exploring the local wisdom functions and values in the form of prohibiting utterances. In this research, I used pragmatic approach. The data used in this research were prohibition utterances consisting local wisdom values done by standard Javanese dialect speaker (2) and the reseponses to the functions and meaning of the utterances. The subject of the study were  Javanese speakers in Solo, Yogyakarta, and Magelang. The instruments were (1) the observation manual and interview manual. The spoken utterances were collected by metode simak dan metode cakap as well as teknik dasar sadap, pancing, dan teknik lanjutan simak libat cakap, teknik rekam, dan teknik catat. In analysing the data, I used metode padan dan metode agih. Thus, the realisation of prohibition utterances was found in the two forms including prohibition utterances with its consequences and prohibition utterances with non consequences. In constructing utterances, the Javanese speakers use phatic marker such as oalah, eh, loh, wah, hus to limit and affirm the meaning of the utterances. The realization of the Javanese prohibition utterances were delivered in ngoko form. This is because its functions as advices from elderly to young people. The speech acts uttered by Javanese were (1) as a form of local wisdom of the speakers and (2) as the form of preserving Javanese language and culture.
