Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe speech communication by autistic students atthe SDLB Autism Laboratory of Universitas Negeri Malang. This study wasconducted on seven autistic students who had different types of autism. The data ofthis study are the elicitation of verbal data in the form of grammatical lingual units andlingual units of the interaction of oral speech of autistic students in the form of wordsand sentences accompanied by speech context. The results of the study show fourthings. First, the shift of speech between teachers and students does not occur wellbecause students are slow in responding to the stimulus from the teacher. Secondly,almost never occurs speech initiation from students. Third, there is inaccuracy andincompatibility of speech responses to stimulus speech. Fourth, the communication ofeach autistic student is different.

Abstract

This study aims at yielding teaching materials for vocational-based scientific paperwriting that can improve academic writing skills as a focus in Indonesian Languagecourses for Polytechnic students. Particularly, it is aimed at describing the results of (1)evaluation (product test) which consists of expert tests and field tests, and (2) producteffectiveness test. The research method used was a modification of the R2R2development model (recursive, reflective, design, and development and RDR(research, development, research) which resulted in the following stages: a preliminarystudy, selection of design, design development, and product effectiveness test. Reviewgained from the experts and practitioners demonstrated that the teaching material forwriting a scientific paper is in accordance with the characteristics of polytechnicstudents because it emphasizes practical activities. The teaching materials have specialfeatures in terms of presentation. The teaching materials have fulfilled their graphicfeasibility so that their readability is stated very well. The t-test analysis shows that theteaching materials for vocational-based scientific paper writing are effective toimprove the students’ academic writing skills.

Abstract

This study is a community-based information literacy studies on DPD PERTUNIcommunity Malang. The purpose of this study is to describe the role of communitiesin developing information literacy PERTUNI members, describing the strategy andthe characteristics as contained in the Community Pertuni. The method used is aqualitative method with a case study approach. Through case studies of the results ofthis study indicate that information literacy using a social approach to take advantageof community ties, a significant role in information literacy community members.Recognized members of the community that they have a higher information literacywhile joining the community.

Abstract

The people of East Java are still familiar with Panji tradition as their collectivememory. Panji tradition is actualized in the form of art performances, such as JarananJor (Blitar) and Wayang Timplong (Nganjuk). Jaranan Jor and Wayang Timplong arestill often performed for various purposes which mean that both are still functional insociety. This paper aims to reveal the Panji tradition in performing arts in East Java,especially Jaranan Jor (Blitar) and Wayang Timplong (Nganjuk). It also tries to reveal ashift of the function of both performances based on their actualization in today'ssociety. Jaranan Jor has changed its function in society, from the function of ritualceremonies into entertainment (spectacle) function. Wayang Timplong is stillfunctioning as a ritual ceremony of Nyadran (village cleaning). However, WayangTimplong also serves as entertainment as well as various social communal activitiessuch as marriage, circumcision, nadar etc.

Abstract

Assessment as learning is an assessment to guide and provide opportunities forparticipants to monitor and reflect critically on their learning processes and outcomes.This study aimed to produce assessments as learning based on problem-solving thatcould be used to improve university students' skills in critical-creative thinking and totest the validity, reliability, and effectiveness of the assessment. The research designused was a 4D model, which stands for 'defining, designing and developing, anddisseminating. The research data consisted of two categories, which were qualitativeand quantitative. The qualitative data were in the form of comments, criticisms, andsuggestions from the expert team specializing in assessment; the quantitative data werein the form of critical-creative skills scores of product users. Qualitative data sourceswere the expert assessment team, and quantitative data sources were the fourthsemester college students of the Indonesian Department, Faculty of Letters,Universitas Negeri Malang. The research findings show that the product was valid andreliable. Besides, the result of the test of effectiveness indicated that this assessmentcould improve university students' skills in critical-creative thinking.

Abstract

The obstacle experienced by Thai citizens to learn Indonesian is the difficulty ofpronouncing the letters and words in Indonesian properly and correctly. To overcomethese obstacles, a solution is needed in the form of developing an educational game"Halo Indonesia" for learning Indonesian for Thai citizens. This educational game willprovide clear instructions on how to pronounce letters and words in Indonesianbecause there are sounds and writing to guide users to learn.

Abstract

This paper introduces the development of corpus linguistics and its advantages in EFL(English as Foreigner Language) vocabulary teaching from three aspects: theapplication of corpus into the vocabulary teaching can greatly improve the efficiencyfor vocabulary teaching by providing the word frequency. And by co-presenting theactual cases of different usages and contexts of the word, the corpus can help to avoidthe negative language transfer and thus enhance the learners’ comprehension andacquisition of the vocabulary.

Abstract

This study describes the relationship of local literature and children's character, withthe anecdotal text of the Kiud as the source of the study. The results show that notonly serious children's literature is loaded with character education but ridiculous andfunny anecdotal texts also shape the character of the child. These character valuesbecome a force that enables children to behave appropriately in various socialsituations

Abstract

This study is aimed at developing digital teaching materials for Prose FictionAppreciation course to foster students’ learning and engagement. This study employedresearch and development design summarized in 4D steps: Define, Design, Develop,and Disseminate. The results of validation and product testing show that the teachingmaterials are suitable for the learning and able to foster the students’ learning andengagement. The notion of engagement is of great importance to be promoted as itsuggests that the students are active learning subjects.

Abstract

The concept of eco-poetic develops in line with changes in the perspective andawareness of poets on the environment. The poet's interaction with nature in thecreative process inspired the selection of learning strategies and learning to writepoetry. This study aims to develop a strategy to use the natural environment as asource of learning to write poetry. The results of the implementation show that thestrategy that departs from natural environment observation activities is effective inwriting natural poetry.
