Abstract

Local food agribusiness in Wamena holds significant potential but still faces various fundamental challenges in its development. This study aims to examine the potential, constraints, and perspectives of local farmers regarding the development of local food-based agribusiness in Wamena, Papua Highlands. A structured survey was conducted with 10 farmers to explore current conditions and the strategies needed. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was applied to objectively determine strategic priorities for agribusiness development through pairwise comparisons and consistency tests. The findings indicate that commodities such as sweet potatoes, taro, and cassava have high market potential; however, their development is hindered by limited capital, restricted access to modern agricultural technology, inadequate transportation and storage infrastructure, and insufficient distribution networks. The AHP analysis identified three main priorities: integrating local wisdom with innovation, strengthening the role of local government and customary institutions, and reinforcing farmer organizations accompanied by digital marketing assistance. These findings highlight the importance of collaboration between local cultural practices and technological innovation to build a sustainable agribusiness system. Government policy support, infrastructure development, and digital-based training are key factors in enhancing the competitiveness of Wamena’s local food products. Thus, this study provides strategic recommendations for government, customary institutions, and other stakeholders to foster the development of inclusive, adaptive, and competitive local food agribusiness in broader markets.

Abstract

Organic rice cultivation in Indonesia has experienced rapid development due to increasing healthy lifestyle patterns among the population, yet faces various constraints such as limited availability of organic fertilizers and biopesticides. This research aims to evaluate the level of farmer adoption of biofarm technology as a solution in organic rice cultivation. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach whereby data were obtained through offline questionnaire distribution to 30 respondents who participated in the biofarm technology pilot program. Sampling was conducted using census technique, and the obtained data were analyzed statistically using descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. Results showed that mentoring effectiveness (X1) positvely influenced the level of biofarm tecnology adoption with a path coefficient of 0,51, while farmes’ technological readiness (X2) had no significant effect and teknological advancement (X3) has a significant influence with a path coefficient of 0,38. Overall, the three independent variabels explained 43% of the variation in farmers’ innovation adoption levels regarding biofarm technology. This research recommends the importance of farmers’ consistency in using biofarm tecnology to overcome fertilizer and biopesticide scarcity, as well as government support through policies and incentives for organic rice rafmers.

Abstract

Potato farming is a strategic horticultural commodity that plays a vital role in the local economy and food security. However, the sustainability of potato production systems faces various challenges, including climate variability, input inefficiency, and low adoption of cultivation technologies. This study aims to identify key factors influencing the sustainability of potato farming as a basis for designing Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smart Farming technology. The analysis was conducted using the Matrix of Impacts Croisés-Multiplication Appliquée à un Classement (MICMAC) method on 15 variables representing the reinforcing dimensions, human resources, markets, and the environment. Data were collected through surveys, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with potato farmers in Simalungun Regency. The results of the Matrix of Direct Influence (MDI) analysis indicate that Market Expansion, Education Level, and Price are determinant variables with high influence and low dependency. Meanwhile, Technology, Experience or training certification, and Farmer Development are included in the category of key variables with high influence and dependency, thus becoming strategic factors in the development of Smart Farming. Based on the Matrix of Indirect Influence (MII), the variables Technology, Farmer Education, Price, Experience, and Market Expansion have a strong indirect influence on the system. This finding confirms that effective IoT technology design must consider the interacting technical and socio-economic factors in potato farming systems. This research provides a scientific basis for strengthening the digital transformation of agriculture and formulating more adaptive and sustainable innovation policies.

Abstract

Tea is a major plantation commodity that contributes significantly to the national agribusiness sector. One of the tea products currently being developed is Black Tea Bags at the Pusat Penelitian Teh dan Kina (PPTK), Bandung Regency, West Java, which began production in November 2024 and is still in its initial stage. This study aims to analyze the quality control process in the production of Black Tea Bags and to identify the types and causes of product defects. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques included interviews, participatory observation, documentation, and document analysis, with data analyzed using Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tools such as check sheets, pareto diagrams, control charts, and fishbone diagram. The results show that quality control has not yet been implemented optimally, as evidenced by six out of seven observations falling outside the statistical control limits. Three types of defects were identified: tea bag, thread, and label defects, with tea bag defects being the most dominant. The contributing factors to these defects include human factors, methods, raw materials, machinery and equipment, and the production environment. PPTK is advised to implement scheduled quality control, improve sorting accuracy and defect documentation, and evaluate production machinery, including replacing it with more automated equipment if necessary.

Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce has transformed consumer behavior, particularly in the process of making online purchase decisions. This study aims to analyze the influence of price perception, trust, ease of use, and perceived risk on online purchase decisions among female consumers. The focus on female consumers is essential, given their high participation in online shopping activities and distinct psychological characteristics compared to men, such as heightened sensitivity to price and risk. The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling approach, involving 105 respondents. The analytical method employed was quantitative using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the study show that all four independent variables—price perception, trust, ease of use, and perceived risk—have a significant influence on online purchase decisions. Price perception emerges as the most dominant factor, indicating that female consumers are highly responsive to discounts and promotional strategies. Trust also plays a crucial role, especially for those who have no prior experience shopping on the platform. Perceived risk has a negative influence, reflecting concerns about transaction security and uncertainty regarding product quality. Meanwhile, ease of use contributes positively to purchase decisions through smooth navigation and system efficiency.

Abstract

This paper aims to identify the actors and factors that create a successful agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. Agricultural development can run sustainably if the actors in it synergize with each other, giving the best contribution to create a successful agriculture. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher has conducted a literature analysis on collaboration between actors contained in the agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem, so as to encourage agricultural activities to become more advanced and sustainable. In addition, this research also presents a model that shows an effective agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. Collaboration is an effort to increase the business and innovation capacity of each actor in the agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. This is an agricultural need for supportive policies, so as to encourage technological innovation and information/knowledge transfer among agricultural actors (farmers, government, agribusiness companies, financial institutions, social communities). This condition is expected to encourage the progress of agriculture as a whole, involving all actors involved in it.
