Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of the approach in Islamic Education on the learning interest of junior high school students a. This type of research uses a quantitative approach. To obtain the data studied, the researcher took population data of 170 students, so as a test instrument taken from a research sample of 66 students, this was no longer used as a research sample. So the remainder of the number used as the sample for the instrument trial was used as a research sample, which might be 104 students. The results revealed correlation between the scientific approach (X) and student learning interest (Y) which was 0.332, which indicates a low level. The correlation coefficient is positive, which means there is a positive effect. The correlation that occurs is significant because the calculated value is greater than the table, namely 2.662 2.00. Based on the results of the data analysis provide that there is an influence between the scientific approach variable, the student learning interest variable. Based on the results of this study, the party in charge of junior high school implements scientific learning to improve learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to ascertain parents' perceptions of their roles in mapping students' English learning achievement and identifying their involvements and strategies for involvement in students' English learning achievement amid the Covid-19 pandemic at a private junior high school in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. The study is qualitative in nature and employs a case study design. The questionnaire and interview were made public in this study. Additionally, a descriptive model was utilized to examine the data. The findings suggested that parents agreed on their roles and responsibilities in mapping their children's English learning achievement. Certain parents considered their duties and involvement were critical, even more so during the Covid-19 epidemic, during which children spent most of their time at home. Parents believed that supporting, motivating, and directing their children's roles might aid the school and their children's English learning. Additionally, English teachers are expected to act like parents, monitoring, guiding, and acknowledging their students' assignments. Additionally, parents actively participated in school activities like teacher-parent online sessions to interact and discuss their children's academic success during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of principal leadership and work stress on the work commitment of extraordinary school teachers in North Jakarta. The method in this research uses a quantitative approach to multiple linear regression models. A sample test was conducted on 104 teachers of extraordinary schools in North Jakarta using the Slovin formula. Hypothesis testing is obtained from the t-test and the F-test. The results show that leadership has a positive and significant role in work commitment; job stress has a negative and effect on the work commitment where increased work stress will decrease teacher work commitment. Leadership and work stress affect the work commitment of teachers at special schools in North Jakarta with a coefficient of determination of 0,357 or 35,7%, meaning that leadership and work stress simultaneously affect teacher work commitment by 35.7%.

Abstract

Pesantren communication culture is quite distinct from other cultures, as it has its own unique, unique, and distinct culture. The santri's obedience, sincerity, and respect for the Kyai exemplify its uniqueness. The author attempts to raise this unique communication culture as a research theme by researching a salaf (traditional) Islamic boarding school, An-Nidzam Sukabumi, and a modern Islamic boarding school, Pondok Pesantren Kholaf (modern) Assalam Sukabumi. The research focuses on the unique characteristics of each of the two Islamic boarding schools. This study employs a qualitative approach based on ethnographic methods because it is highly relevant to its focus on the language spoken, communication patterns observed, and communication culture of pesantren. The findings indicated that the communication cultures of the salaf and Khalaf pesantren were significantly different. The An Nizam salaf pesantren placed a premium on regional/Sundanese languages in daily interactions while simultaneously suppressing learning in religious sciences from the yellow books. The Kalaf/modern Assalam Islamic boarding schools placed a premium on Arabic and English instruction. The use of English in daily interactions and an understanding of the spiritual sciences are explored through classically taught contemporary books.

Abstract

This study aims to document the assessment of alumni of teachers professional education program (PPG) in Riau University on the effectiveness of the PPG program in preparing prospective professional English teachers. All alumni of the 2018 subsidized PPG program at the University were selected as the sample of this study (15 people). Data was collected through the distribution of a Google form-based survey which was adopted from the PPG program evaluation questionnaire from the Ministry of Education, Higher Education. This study found that from the curriculum aspect, 84.6% of alumni said that the PPG curriculum content was in accordance with the needs of pre-service English teachers. However, 76.9% of participants stated that most of the material had been studied when they were in the undergraduate program. In terms of learning facilities, only 23.1% answered that they were satisfied with PPG facilities. 46.2% of them stated that the lecture room was not feasible. From the aspect of organizing services to students, only 42.6% said they were satisfied. The rest answered simply enough. From the aspect of the impact of the program, 69.2% of participants admitted that PPG had a significant impact on the development of their teaching profession. The greatest impact is on the aspect of both professional and pedagogical competencies. Thus, even though PPG is generally considered to be running quite well and has a positive impact, there are several aspects that need to be the attention of PPG organizers for the improvement of PPG in the future.

Abstract

Students are required to find their appropriate strategies to solve mathematics problems so that intuition is needed. Male and female students have different intuition on mathematical problem-solving. Thus, gender is influencing how to obtain mathematical knowledge. This descriptive qualitative study aimed to analize the intuition differences of male and female students who have high-level mathematical abilities at secondary school in solving mathematics problems. Data was collected through tests of mathematical problem-solving and interviews then analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. This study found that: (1) There are differences in the characteristics of male and female intuition in mathematical problems solving, (2) The intuition of male and female in mathematical problems solving based on Polya's steps is different in re-checking the answers, (3) There are differences in intuition when students solve linear equation system problems. There are differences in intuition between male and female students with high matematical abilities in each material. Students with problem-solving abilities have affirmative intuition to understand problems, anticipatory intuition for problem-solving plans and solutions, and conclusive intuition to re-examine problems.

Abstract

This experimental research intended to examine the effects of the Bits and Pieces game on students’ achievement in the writing report text. Sixty-eight students in the tenth grade participated in an experimental class taught through the Bits and pieces game. The participants in the control class taught through the Conventional teaching method. After the treatment was done, the students in both grades were tested. As the results, the mean average showed that there was an increase in writing scores. Additionally, the score in the experimental class showed that the Bits and Pieces game was adequate to be taught. Nevertheless, the score in the control class showed that the Conventional teaching method was not effective to be taught because there was no significant difference between the score in the pre-test and post-test. Furthermore, learning through the Bits and Pieces game encourages students’ broader skills of cooperation and negotiation.
