Abstract

To cope with the growth of the human population, the government makes policies to anticipate the population explosion which is increasing every year. One of them is the family planning (KB) program, this program aims to control births for married couples. This program has existed and been implemented in Indonesia since 1957 until now. From government programs, in fact there are contraceptive methods in Indonesia that are low in demand, one of which is the implant method. The implant method in Indonesia does tend to be small when compared to other long-term methods. The BKKBN stated that implant users in 2019 were only 7.4%, far below the pill and injection methods. In his study, (Putri, Rahma, 2015) concluded that knowledge has a relationship with the choice of implant contraceptive types. There are several factors that influence the low use of implant contraception in Indonesia. Studies conducted by (Triyanto, L. Indriani, 2018) stated that age, education, employment and family planning service sources could influence the use of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (MKJP) in Women of Reproductive Age (WUS) including in the selection of implants as a contraceptive method. This literature review uses a narrative research study of the literature which describes the factors causing the low interest in contraceptive implants. The sample uses 5 research articles. The conclusion from this literature review is that age, knowledge, perceptions of the mother and sources of information are the factors causing the low interest in KB implant acceptors. In addition, there is the participation of health workers, cadres and all levels of society to support the implementation of counseling and good KIE so that information about family planning implants reaches the community properly and correctly. It is hoped that family planning service providers will provide even better efforts in sharing information and counseling and KIE about family planning implants to acceptors and prospective family planning acceptors. Researchers hope that the results of this study can be used as a reference for further research with a wider range of variable

Abstract

ABSTRACT Nipple pain during breastfeeding significantly impacts the emotional well-being, daily activities, and sleep patterns of mothers, increasing the risk of early breastfeeding cessation and postpartum depression. Previous studies have reported high prevalence rates of nipple pain among breastfeeding mothers in various countries. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to nipple pain, utilizing a cross-sectional design and Shomers's statistical test. Nipple pain severity was assessed using visual analog scores, with nipple lesions, latch-on techniques, nipple shape, and maternal parity as independent variables. The results demonstrate strong positive associations between nipple pain and nipple lesions (P value 0.000, r = 0.866), latch-on techniques (P value 0.000, r = 0.629), and nipple shape (P value 0.001, r = 0.341). However, there is no significant correlation (P value 0.132) between nipple pain and maternal parity (r = -0.182). To promote successful breastfeeding, healthcare facilities should prioritize the provision of education on proper breastfeeding techniques, pain prevention and management strategies, and solutions to address the unique challenges faced by breastfeeding mothers. Abstract

The assistance of midwives in childbirth is one of the strategies related to maternal and child health issues. In Indonesia, the utilization of midwifery assistance in the community is still low compared to the expected indicators. According to data from Palangkau Community Health Center in 2022, there were 7 mothers assisted by non-medical personnel during childbirth. Several factors influence the choice of childbirth assistance, including the distance to health facilities, transportation, trust, costs, and others. The aim of this research is to describe the phenomenon of childbirth assistance by non-medical personnel in the work area of UPT Community Health Center Palangkau. It is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The main informants are 10 mothers who gave birth with the assistance of traditional birth attendants from 2022 to 2023. The research results indicate that all mothers prefer and utilize assistance from traditional birth attendants due to the strong community trust in them, as well as the generational aspect. Other influencing factors include the cost of childbirth, the distant location of health facilities, inactive health insurance, and issues related to still having to pay for childbirth even with health insurance, as well as inadequate transportation. Therefore, health policy solutions and interventions need to be holistic, considering various factors influencing community decisions. This poses a significant challenge in achieving optimal maternal health while highlighting potential opportunities to enhance childbirth services and strengthen maternal health systems.
