Abstract

This study aims to analyse the social competence of lecturers in Arabic language learning at an Islamic College in Southeast Sulawesi using Adams GR's theory. Employing a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, interviews, and documentation. The research sample consists of six Arabic language lecturers teaching across four faculties at IAIN Kendari. Data analysis was conducted using reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that the lecturers exhibit strong social competence, evidenced by polite verbal communication, the use of sign language, written communication through technology, fairness towards students, and the provision of praise to enhance learning motivation. Based on these findings, it is concluded that empathy and fairness are key elements in fostering a positive learning atmosphere. These qualities contribute to a more inclusive, supportive environment that can enhance students’ emotional well-being and academic success. The study's implications suggest that integrating empathy and fairness in teaching practices is essential for promoting a conducive learning experience, thereby potentially improving student outcomes in higher education settings.

Abstract

This research aims to develop effective and structured teaching materials in CEFR Level A1-A2-based Arabic listening and speaking skills for use in Alexandria Islamic School Bekasi. Unlike previous research that used CEFR for curriculum creation, this research focuses on the development of CEFR-based teaching materials. The CEFR standard is important in learning Arabic to assess the level of language proficiency. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with qualitative and quantitative approaches, and uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model developed by Dick and Carey. Data collection techniques include tests, observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the use of the textbook "Al-Arabiyyatu Kulla Yaumin" obtained an effectiveness level of 85%-100%, which was categorized as "excellent". This product has been tested at the Islamic School of Alexandria through pre-test and post-test, with validation results showing high effectiveness. Abstract

Speaking skill (maharah kalam) is one of the four main skills that must be mastered by students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at Islamic universities. The main goal of learning speaking skill is to develop the ability to speak in Arabic fluently, effectively, and accurately. Students are expected to be able to express thoughts, feelings, and information clearly and relevant in a variety of communication contexts. But in reality, there are still students who encounter obstacles in the learning process of speaking skill so that the expected goals are not achieved, as happened to PBA IAIN Ternate students. For this reason, this article discusses the difficulties of students in learning speaking skill at PBA IAIN Ternate with those explored from the results of field research with a qualitative descriptive approach, where the data obtained through questionnaires and interviews are processed by library triangulation. The results show that students of the PBA IAIN Ternate study program are still experiencing difficulties in learning speaking skill, from linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. In the linguistic aspect, it can be seen in the difficulty of understanding vocabulary, stringing sentences, and difficulty in capturing information from the interlocutor. Meanwhile, on the non-linguistic side, it can be seen in the students' lack of confidence in communicating. This affects the achievement of the learning goal of speaking skill, which emphasizes communication skills using Arabic.

Abstract

This study aims to address the challenges of teaching grammar, which often relies on theoretical material with limited practical application, individual teaching methods, and a teacher-cantered approach. It proposes the use of project-based learning (PjBL) as a model to engage students actively and improve their understanding of grammar. The research, conducted at Nurul Ulum Islamic Religious School for Girls in Kebonsari, Malang, East Java, explores the implementation of the PjBL model in grammar instruction and the nature of the projects used in this context. The model comprises three main stages: pre-action (goal setting, tool selection, and time planning), action (assignment, planning, and evaluation), and post-action. During the action phase, students work collaboratively to construct sentences based on Qur'anic verses, with a specific focus on understanding grammatical rules such as the nominative case for nouns. The findings suggest that this approach fosters students’ initiative, independence, and cooperation while promoting responsibility in problem-solving tasks. This model enhances students' active participation and engagement, making grammar instruction more dynamic and contextually relevant.

The Mnemonic music came to help them in memorizing the vocabulary easily and with strong memory. The aims of this research are first, to understand how to design teaching materials by using mnemonic music to strengthen vocabularies memorizing, second, to understand the specifications of the teaching materials that developed, and to determine the effectiveness of teaching materials that developed. This research use qualitative and quantitative approach. The method of this research is research and development. The researcher use interview technique, observation technique, questionnaire technique, and test technique to collect the data.  The result of this research is that this research is carried out using the ADDIE model according to Dick and Carrey, its mean analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The specifications of the the teaching materials in this research is that they are developed by using mnemonic music technique which is consists of cover, aims of learning, chapters, new vocabularies, and many exercises of vocabularies. This material consist of 24 chapters which is developed by using mnemonic music technique. The result of the product experiment is 10,4>2,80>2,08: t. >ts0,01>0,05 indicates that these developed teaching materials are effective in strengthening vocabulary memorization.

Abstract

Speaking skills are one of the barometers of someone's proficiency in learning a foreign language. Consequently, speaking skills are being widely developed in madrasahs. However, most students experience the highest language anxiety in speaking skills, as seen in the case of 10th grade students at MA Nurul Ulum. Recognizing this fact, researchers have proposed a new innovation in the learning process through the implementation of the Little Circle Arabic Learning (LCAL) in teaching speaking skills. This study aims to improve students’ skills in speaking Arabic. The research utilizes the classroom action research method according to the theories of Stephen Kemmis and MC Taggart, conducted in two cycles (8 meetings), with four steps in each cycle: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study are 22 students from the 10th grade at MA Nurul Ulum. The results show an improvment in speaking skills due to the average score of speaking skills evaluation by 10.5 in cycle I, from 75.4 (C) to 85.9 (B). Then, Then the researchers made improvement and repair in the cycle II until it became there was a further increase of 5.6 to 91.5 (A). Therefore, the LCAL model can enhance the Arabic speaking skills of 10th grade students at MA Nurul Ulum.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the assumption that Arabic itself is one of the Semitic language families that is considered difficult to learn, because it has a complex grammar. Likewise, learning resources, teaching materials, textbooks and also nahwu books are known to be traditional, thick, and a little boring because they are only in the form of writing, and less interesting to learn. On the other hand, many students do not know about the local wisdom of the Indonesian nation, because as long as they learn Arabic, they only learn about the language of foreign nations. Therefore, this research aims to develop a Grammatical Arabic Functional textbook based on Local Wisdom for Arabic language learners. The method used in this study is R&D by adopting the Borg and Gall development model. The results of this study in the form of an assessment from experts stated that this book was categorized as very feasible, with a percentage of scores of 83% from material expert validators, and 100% from media expert validators. While the results of field trials stated that this textbook was able to improve student learning outcomes, which can be seen from the pre-test results of 50.4 and post-test scores of 85.2. So it is known that there is a difference of 34.8 which shows a significant increase. Therefore this textbook is able to improve understanding of the Arabic language, especially nahwu.
