Abstract

PT. IKAD is a company that produces ceramic tile. Quality decreasing is occurred on some Critical To Quality (CTQ) in a part of kiln. Kiln process itself was the last process and the most vital in determining final output of ceramic tile. Realizing the importance to the quality of kiln process, hence needed a problem solving method to improve and control process which taking place in Department Plant 3 so the amount ofdefect product can be minimized to achieve zero defect. The method to solve the problem is Six Sigma method that consist of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) phase. DMAIC phase begins with identifying customer needs to determine priority ofCTQ. Then measuring the sigma level, stability and process capability ofpriority CTQ. On the analyze phase, cause effect diagram is used to find failure cause analysis of CTQ, and then Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA) tool is used to analyze the failure. On the final phase, improvement plan and process control act is done for company. The result ofthis research from Define phase is dash away as the priority ofCTQ. On the Measure phase known that sigma level in the month of January 2006 equal to 3,46 sigma and decrease to 3,24 sigma in Februari 2006. At that both period, process condition is not stable but capable enough if seen from Cp and Cpk value. On the Analyze phase is obtained the information that many factors like process or method, man, material, measurement, mother-nature, also machine and equipments are supposed causing instability and incapability of kiln process. Improve suggestions for managerial and technical side are given and Control suggestions to guarantee the quality of kiln process are also given on the Improve and Control phase.

Abstract

PT. Prima Sejati Sejahtera as one of the subsidiaries of PT. Pan Brothers Tbk. which is engaged in garment production. The company's mechanical department in managing spare part inventory is still using intuitive method, where the number of spare part order for certain periods based on spare part demands data onto the previous period. The company’s mechanical department often stock out of spare parts. Spare part’s inventory management becomes a complex issue because of the need for fast response to handle the downtime of machines, and the risk of obsolescence of spare parts. So in this research will discuss about spare part inventory control which is started with spare parts grouping by using ABC analysis method to determine the appropriate inventory control method for each group. There are 23 spare parts which included in group A. The forecast of spare part’s demands to use Croston, Syntetos-Boylan Approximation (SBA) and Single Exponential Smoothing (SES). Comparison of each forecasting method will be determined by the value of forecasting errors (MAD). It is known that there are 12 spare parts with Croston method in the best forecasting method, 6 spare parts in Syntetos-Boylan Approximation (SBA) method and 5 spare parts with Single Exponential Smoothing (SES) method. Based on the best forecasting result, it will be calculated the value of safety stock (SS), reorder point (ROP) and the optimal number of ordering (Q) using Continuous Review method for each spare part.

Abstract

This research investigates the problem of electromagnetic noise on myoelectric device. This myoelectric device has a low pass filter response (Butterworth type) with cut-off frequency (fc) 6 Hz and passing 8 volt signal. The passed signal, then amplified by a differential amplifier for 150 times into 1,2 Volt (20% noise captured system). So we require an approach to electromagnetic shielding to reduce interference from the outside that enter into the device system. In this study utilizing an experimental design using full factorial experiment methods to determine the effect of the type of bahan, the frequency response, and the interaction to the performance of shielding. The experiment results showed that each element and their interactions, significantly affected the value of the shielding performance. Aluminium foil air cell bubble has the highest shielding performance with the average performance of shielding efficiency of 94,80887 %. This bahan used for shielding socket design proposal which based in the Wisconsin department of health service and American heart association standard.

Abstract

Military standard 105D is a sampling method developed by United States Ministry of Defense. The background of this method development was to accommodate fulfillment of producer and consumer expectation on the product quality inspection with acceptance or rejection lot mechanism. There was three level of inspection based on MLT STD 105D, normal, tightened and reduced. The choice on inspection level, based on tendency of increasing or decreasing defect amount that founded. PT. GE Lighting used a single sampling inspection method with constant sampling amount of 80 pcs for every lot with 500 pcs. This research was to decide the alternative sampling method using MIL STD 105D. Based on the amount of proposal sampling, thus the decreasing percentage on the sample amount from the recent sample of 80 pcs is 37,5% for normal inspection, 40% for reduced inspection and 40% for tightened inspection. The amount sample on each category for the three level inspection on single sampling & double sampling proposal have probability below the producer risk (5%) and consumer risk (10%), so the sampling proposal can accommodate both producer & consumer risk.
