Abstract

Abstract: The implementation of piety is a form of faith to improve the characteristics of people who are devout in life. According to the Qur'an, taqwa is a person's personality towards Allah and this piety makes him submit and obey religious teachings by carrying out all commands and avoiding all prohibitions of Allah SWT. The aim of this research is to find out how to achieve devotion based on the perspective of Hamka's interpretation of Al-Azhar. The research uses qualitative methods with the type of library research with the Al-Azhar book as the main source, reinforced with secondary sources such as books, scientific works and related journals. The results of this research conclude that according to Buya Hamka, taqwa is not only limited to protecting oneself from the punishment of Allah SWT, but has a broader meaning, namely the spirit of worship, increasing pious deeds to be closer to Allah and spreading love and caring for fellow humans. In its implementation, piety is divided into 2 aspects, namely habluminallah and hablumminnas, namely maintaining a relationship with Allah, a devout servant must always carry out His commands and avoid His prohibitions and in maintaining relationships with other humans, a devout servant will spread a sense of compassion and affection. caring for others.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of intercultural da'wah adaptation in the Malay Muslim community in Makassar. The background of this research is based on the lack of information about the dynamics of intercultural da'wah for ethnic Malay Muslims in Makassar, which can affect people's understanding of cultural diversity. The research method uses a qualitative approach with an ethnographic study involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and qualitative data analysis. The results showed that the Malay Muslim community in Makassar plays an essential role in forming cultural identity amid ethnic and religious diversity. The adaptation of intercultural da'wah is observed in the location of Malay people and places of worship that are on the crossing path of cultural and religious diversity. The Makmur Melayu Mosque, as the centre of religious activities, is located close to Chinese and Arab settlements, reflecting the contribution of intercultural da'wah in forming Malay-Muslim identity in Makassar. The process of cultural acculturation is also observed through the adaptation of language, social systems and Islamic values For example, cultural adaptation was found through cross-cultural marriages, especially among Bugis Makassar aristocrats, which contributed to the formation of identity and social structure in Makassar.

Abstract

This article explains about the hegemony of MUI related to the blasphemy case in the 2017 DKI Pilgub which is based on surah al-Maidah verse 51, there are various opinions that give birth to community polarization. Therefore, this article will answer the question of how the relevant meaning today of the word "Auliya" in surah al-Maidah verse 51. This article uses Michel Foucault's theory of power relations related to the knowledge produced by MUI. The result of this discussion is that there are opinions of interpreters who do not allow non-Muslim leaders as Muslim leaders, such as Ibn Kathir and Sayyid Qutb. Some others allow it, such as Ibn Taymiyah, Muhammad Abduh and Ashgar Ali Engineer and Sahiron Syamsuddin. The MUI's "Religious Opinion and Position" states that Basuki Tjahaya Purnama has blasphemed and cannot lead the Muslim community. Meanwhile, there is a counter from Kiai Muda Ansor Youth Movement and Sahiron Samsuddin's interpretation with ma'na cum maghzanya approach that views the interpretation of the word "Áuliya" verse 51 surah Al-Maidah from the side of the agreement that has been agreed upon then broken by one of them and is far different from MUI's "Opinion and Religious Attitude" especially that the interpretation of this verse is not about leadership, but the breaking of promises.

Abstract

This research explores the verses related to Jews in the Quran, particularly in Surah al-Baqarah verse 120. Some groups claim this verse to be evidence that the Quran harbors hatred towards Jews. This research utilizes a historical and semantic approach to thoroughly examine the verses in the Quran that pertain to Jews. This is conducted to produce a definitive answer to the question: does the Quran indeed hate Jews? Using a qualitative approach with data from classical and modern Islamic literature, this research concludes that the Jews referred to in the Quran, especially in Surah al-Baqarah verse 120, are a prototype of an antagonistic character. Through a semantic-historical analysis, it is determined that the Jews referred to in the Quran do not represent all Jews, but specifically denote the Jewish groups in Medina. The Quran does not hate Jews; rather, it criticizes their behavior, not their race or religion. In summary, the Quran critiques bad behavior from any individual, regardless of who they are.

Abstract

This study examines the role of kiai leadership in strengthening the religious identity of urban Muslim communities, specifically at Pesantren Darul Falah Ternate. In an urban context, modernization and globalization often pose challenges that erode religious values in society. The kiai at Pesantren Darul Falah serves as a spiritual leader and a figure who preserves the continuity of Islamic values within the increasingly pluralistic and dynamic urban environment. This research aims to understand how the Kiai face these challenges and maintain the religious identity of the Muslim community. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the methods of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through data condensation and presentation in narrative form to highlight relevant information. The research findings show that the Kiai's leadership at Pesantren Darul Falah successfully maintained religious identity through religious activities such as study groups, zikr, and sermons and through collaboration with the government and local communities. The Kiai also utilized modern technology to disseminate Islamic teachings, bridging religious traditions with modern life. Furthermore, strategic partnerships with various parties have strengthened the role of the pesantren as a center for social and economic empowerment. These findings emphasize the importance of the adaptive and collaborative role of the kiai in addressing social changes.

Abstract

Ma'ani science is a branch of balaghah science. One of the discussions in ma'ani science is qashr, namely specializing something from something else in a certain way. There are two main pillars in qashr, namely maqshur and maqshur 'alaih. Judging from its main pillars, qashr is divided into 2, namely qashr alam 'ala maushuf and qashr maushuf 'ala alam. Based on the nature and reality, qashr is divided into 2, namely qashr haqiqi and qashr idhafi. There are 4 adatul qashr, namely, Nafyi (Exclusion) and Istitsna' (Exception), Lafadz Innamaa (إنما), using 'Athaf (combined letters), namely the letters: لا (not), بل (but) or لكن (but), and prioritize the lafadz that should be finished. This research uses descriptive analysis methods and includes library research. This research analyzes the text of the verses in Surah TaHa which contain qashr rules in them. This research found 17 sentences containing qashr rules contained in the TaHa letter. The 17 rules are summarized in 15 verses. Of the 17 qashr, 4 qashr function as takhshis, 8 function as ta'kid, 2 function as hashr, 1 function as tasliyah and 1 function as mubalaghah.
