Abstract

The role of research in design is to develop the potential that drives the creation of novel value in design. In the research process for design, the majority of designer-students have difficulties in determining the starting point or initial idea of a design, so they have the potential not to have a train of thought regarding what needs to be done in realizing the design and do not know the next process. One aspect that can enrich design ideas and novelty in fashion products is the application of craft techniques. With the application of craft techniques, the data and facts obtained become increasingly massive. So that the series of ideas-research-design requires a clear mapping of the flow of thinking in the creative process. Today's student-designers cannot be limited to just one research method, knowing that conceptual ideas can start from anywhere, such as design concept ideas that start from craft techniques in a linear mapping flow. This can be a reference regarding the linear flow of ideas-research-design that is carried out in zero waste fashion design to find out its potential, especially in the application of craft techniques. This research was conducted qualitatively by reviewing literature data and looking at examples of case studies from the student-designer work process using the linear method. Observations are made periodically for students who have designed the application of craft techniques to zero waste fashion design, to become research subjects and find out their creative process. The result of this study is an analysis of fashion product design methods with the application of craft techniques that have been carried out in a linear way of thinking as a reference for designers in producing innovative works.

Abstract

Women have played a significant role in the history of Lampung's indigenous people, a.k.a Ulun Lappung. Lampung and women have had a long relationship since the Lampung people's ancestors settled in this area in the 14th century. Ratu Sekarmong, a Lampung indigenous resident, has led the Tumi tribe in Sekala Brak. Then women played a unique role in the stringed music of the Pepadun community two generations ago, particularly the gitar tunggal. Participant observations of female gitar tunggal performers, particularly those from the Pepadun ethnic group of Lampung, were used to conduct this qualitative study. The number of female guitar players in Lampung is currently dispersed. Women of the ethnic Pepadun make up the majority of the performers. In-depth descriptions are also produced using ethnographic data and digital documents from the internet. Investigations on virtual field sites, interviews, and literature reviews are used to collect research data. According to the findings, male and female gitar tunggal performers use the same way in techniques. Contrarily, female guitarists have different goals than male guitarists. Women are prohibited from playing stringed instruments in public or in the local music industry. In addition, male performers typically remain active on stage, whereas female performers only reside in their homes. In the traditional view, their creativity is only used for household amusement. As a result, female guitarists must advance new coping mechanisms that affect their ability to retain music. Women's contributions to developing Lampung stringed music must be acknowledged, particularly in light of the patrilineal Lampung traditional system.

Abstract

Rambu Tuka' has the meaning Kameloan which means joy or happiness. For example, wedding ceremonies, tongkongan houses, and harvests. The process of the Rambu Tuka' event carried out by the Toraja community is followed by the Ma'letton ritual or what is known as the slaughtering of pigs, buffalo and chickens, then distributed to the community. Furthermore, the Pa'gellu Dance became a form of dance performed by the Toraja people during the Rambu Tuka' event. This ceremony is also carried out by the Toraja people as a form of gratitude to God for the gifts given. The uniqueness of the Rambu Tuka event then became a source of inspiration for the author in creating fashion works consisting of one ready-to-wear outfit. Clothing creation uses the Double Diamond Model process or double diamond model which consists of four creative processes, namely: (1) Discovery phase, (2) Define phase, (3) Development phase, (4) deliver. It is hoped that the results of this clothing creation will make people more familiar with the diversity of Indonesian culture, especially the uniqueness of the Rambu Tuka' ceremony.

Abstract

This work is the manifestation of the transformation of Zaimie bin Sahibil’s painting, Barracuda Series, into musical form. The Barracuda Series painting presents the beauty and richness of the ocean bed as a utopian paradigm of the maritime ecology of the coastal community of Sabah, Malaysia. The composer was inspired by his own aesthetic experience when appreciating the painting. This aesthetic experience became the material object that was treated with the concept of media transposition and turned into a musical composition. The media transposition was implemented through the interpretation and transformation of the external and internal structural levels of the Barracuda Series painting. These elements were adapted to create musical elements as a form of innovation in the way the composition was created. the creation of this work involved a number of work stages that were implemented constructively through a method of creation. These stages included: an analysis of data sources, experimentation, contemplation, composition, and formation. The work process utilized the results of extra-aesthetic interpretation and intra-aesthetic transformation to create an innovative musical text. The musical composition Tornado in the Sea uses the instrumentation of piano, violin, and kalimba. The stages of creation included an analysis of data sources, experimentation, contemplation, arrangement, formation, and execution.

Abstract

This research was conducted as an effort to address an issue regarding the decline in motivation for learning and practicing piano in intermediate-level piano classes at a music college. This has led to a stagnation in students' practical piano skills in specific piano techniques and theoretical abilities. The researcher proposes the development of learning through six-hand piano, with repertoire material created by the researcher entitled 'Explore'. This study applies the Robert K. Yin model of the case study method, conducted in three stages: Design, Execution, and Analysis. Sample selection utilized case-based sampling, involving three students from the class. Data collection included semi-structured interviews, observational analysis, document analysis, and literature review. To ensure the validity of the interview data, this study additionally employed Focus on Group Discussions (FGD). The analysis of the data encompassed within-case analysis, drawing conclusions, and comparison against theory. The findings in this research were identified as follows: Firstly, musical knowledge. Students gained a good understanding that enhanced their skills in several piano techniques, also music structure and form in repertoire. Secondly, several character values were identified based on the formulation of the 18 pillars of national character, which were observed throughout the learning process until its completion. These values were curiosity, responsibility, cooperation, discipline, hardwork, also friendly and communicative. These character values cultivate students' motivation to learn and practice the piano, thereby fostering musical knowledge

Abstract

The characteristics of Sundanese kendang in a review of multiple cultural perspectives are sufficient to provide space for exploration in the process of acculturation of traditional arts at national and international levels. Sundanese kendang has shown its existence as a collaborative local cultural product. However, the acculturation of Sundanese kendang which is currently growing has certain problems on the other hand. Through the various charms it offers, Sundanese kendang are now not only owned by the Sundanese people, but are already owned by other non-Sundanese people. Therefore, of the many changes in the process of development and distribution, identification of how the Sundanese kendang looks today is quite important to complement the Sundanese kendang literacy itself as a complete identity. Sundanese kendang as a cultural product are certainly inseparable from the Sundanese people as their owners. Periodically, Sundanese kendang have not found common ground about when, where, and who can be used as an accurate reference source for the interests of Sundanese kendang literacy itself, therefore this paper offers an approach through the pattern of rationality of Sundanese culture which allows it to be used as an option. in the study of Sundanese kendang as one of the cultural products of the Sundanese people. The philosophy of the Sundanese people will be reflected in the meaning contained in the Sundanese kendang as one of the cultural products it produces. By discovering the cultural values contained in Sundanese kendang, it will provide a new view of what, why and what is wrong with Sundanese kendang.
