Background: The implementation of JKN by BPJS Kesehatan, drug inventory management has become a crucial thing to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services. However, delays in BPJS claims these payments often disrupt drug procurement in hospitals. This study is aimed to prevent stock outs so that an effective inventory control method is needed at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital. Objectives: This study is aimed to analyze the management of BPJS drugs at the Pharmacy Installation of Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital using the ABC-VEN, dan EOQ methods to optimize inventory control, ordering, and, storage. Methods: This descriptive-analytical study used retrospective data from pharmacy record documents, inventory systems, stock levels, usage, costs, and interview results. Data accuracy was ensured through triangulation, cross-checking records with financial documents, and respons of interviews in 2023. The inventory value was calculated by multiplying the quantity of drugs procured and remaining stock (on their own puchasing prices) at the end of the year. Inventory Turnover Ratio  was calculated by dividing the COGS by the average inventory value. The data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel software version 2021.Results: Findings showed that ABC-VEN methods were 8% of drugs which were classified as AV, 6% as BV, 43% as CV, 5% as AE, 5% as BE, and 57% as CE out of 288 items, with CE dominating. The final inventory value was Rp 6,947,818,985 with an ITOR of 7.53 times per year. Conclusion: The findings show that the ABC-VEN method can improve inventory control, reduce stockouts, and align drug procurement with finance.

Abstract

Background: Electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) systems have been increasingly adopted in hospital settings to enhance the safety, accuracy, and efficiency of medication management. These systems aim to reduce human error in prescribing and dispensing medication, which is crucial for improving patient outcomes and the overall quality of healthcare. Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the direct effects of the e-prescribing system on prescribing errors, medication errors, efficiency and effectiveness, and user acceptance among healthcare workers. Methods: The study is based on a comprehensive review of 13 articles published between 2019 and 2023, covering a range of quantitative and mixed methods studies sourced from databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Results: The findings reveal that e-prescribing has a significant positive impact on reducing errors. Six of the reviewed studies reported a reduction in prescription writing errors while four studies highlighted a decrease in medication errors after the implementation of the system. Additionally, six studies demonstrated improvements in efficiency and productivity, and four studies reported positive user acceptance of the system. Conclusion: The implementation of electronic prescribing systems in hospitals has shown clear advantages in reducing errors, increasing efficiency, and receiving positive feedback from healthcare workers. This highlights the potential role of e-prescribing in improving the quality of healthcare services.

Abstract

Background: Knowledge and skills related to the preparation and administration of sterile preparations, including the principles of technique aseptic according to procedures, are very important for personnel is compounding intravenous admixture. This knowledge is essential to avoid medication errors and increase patient safety. Improper preparation or administration of intravenous medications can result in patient injury or even death due to medication errors. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the correlation between the appropriateness of antibiotic intravenous admixture preparations and the degree of personal knowledge. Methods: This research was conducted in an observational manner with a cross-sectional design and quantitative analysis. A total of 33 respondents who were in charge of intravenous admixture preparations at PKU Muhammadiyah Wonosari Hospital were measured for their level of knowledge and tested for their relationship with the suitability iv admixture process in the October-November 2022 period and analyzed statistically with the contingency coefficient correlation test. Results: The results of this study showed a p-value of 0.001 indicating a significant correlation between the level of knowledge and suitability for the preparation stage. A p-value of 0.012 indicated a correlation between the level of knowledge and modification of the intravenous injection preparation mixing procedure. Personal profession and training have an effect on the mixing of intravenous injection preparations with a p-value of 0.021; and 0.027.Conclusion: Increased knowledge and continuous training can be implemented to improve the quality of intravenous admixture produced by personnel.
