Abstract

This study aims to analyze cross-sector communication strategies to support the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) while strengthening food security in Majene Regency. As a new national program requiring multi-actor coordination, the MBG faces potential information and perception gaps between actors, necessitating planned cross-sector communication. This study used a case study method with a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, field observations, and policy document reviews. The results show that communication practices involve three main actors: the local government, food businesses and UMKM, and local communities including farmer groups and PKK cadres. Initially, communication patterns were formal and one-way through coordination meetings but have since transformed into faster and more responsive digital communication. Several challenges were encountered, including limited communication infrastructure in remote areas, differing interests in the food supply chain, and low public nutrition literacy, which results in uneven absorption of policy messages. To address these challenges, the local government implemented four communication strategies: an information strategy to expand dissemination, a participatory strategy through village deliberations and community involvement, a collaborative strategy with the private sector and civil society organizations, and an education strategy to improve nutritional understanding and encourage behavioral change. These findings confirm that the success of the MBG program lies not only in the distribution of nutritious food, but also in the synergy of communication between actors to build an inclusive, sustainable, and local potential-based food ecosystem.

Abstract

Child adoption is a process attached to anxiety and uncertainty. This research needs to formulate ways to reduce the anxiety and uncertainty experienced by adoptive parents at the beginning of the adoption process. The research approach is carried out with a qualitative approach and using case studies. The results stated that communication competencies needed to reduce anxiety in the initial adoption process include communication orientation, conformity orientation, and utilizing significant other and internal support to reduce anxiety in the adoption process. In delivering the message of the adoption plan, the adoptive parents conveyed the message directly to the couple and used a presupposition message visualization strategy to deliver the message. In managing uncertainty, adoptive parents seek to reduce anxiety by communicating directly through proactive and retroactive processes. This research contributes to the finding of communication competencies needed to reduce the anxiety experienced by adoptive parents in the adoption process.

Abstract

Mainstream media has huge role in constructing reality since it can build majority’s perspective. In some issues, the core encounter to challenge it is forming alternative media to resist the public opinion. This research aims to analyze the semiotic narrative in Jewish Voice for Peace's Instagram content regarding the representation of Jewish and Judaism in the context of Israel-Palestine conflict. The researcher used qualitative method with narrative analysis approach. The data were collected from feed articles related to the existing cases and analyzed using Julien Greimas model, such as Mythical Actantial and Semiotic Square. The research result showed that Jewish Voice for Peace represents Jewish and Judaism as non-Zionist identity and the advocate for Palestinian rights. Thus, this alternative media provides more critical interpretation to the audience, including the existence of Jews’ power in speaking their voice within worldwide society.

Abstract

In the digital age, social media has become a pivotal platform for public discourse, particularly among Generation Z. This demographic, known for its digital proficiency, utilizes platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter to engage in activism, share opinions, and build communities. However, these platforms also present challenges, such as the spread of misinformation, the amplification of polarization, and algorithm-driven content curation. This study aims to analyze the trends, challenges, and implications of social media's role in shaping public discourse among Generation Z. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research collected data through semi-structured interviews and content analysis. Thematic analysis revealed that 35% of social media content is polarizing, often creating ideological echo chambers, while 30% consists of misinformation, undermining trust and informed decision-making. Conversely, activism-related content, accounting for 25% of analyzed posts, highlights the potential for social media to foster civic engagement. The study concludes that while social media empowers Generation Z to participate in societal conversations, it also perpetuates significant challenges. The findings underscore the urgency of digital literacy initiatives and ethical algorithmic reforms to mitigate these issues. These interventions are critical for fostering informed, inclusive, and constructive public discourse in the digital era.  Keywords:

Abstract

The mass media plays a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of corruption through language choices and framing strategies. This study examines how The Jakarta Post and Reuters reported the Pertamina corruption case using linguistic and framing analysis. A qualitative Thematic Analysis supported by ATLAS.ti was applied to identify dominant themes, guided by Media Framing theories. The dataset comprised online news articles published within six months of the report, February-July 2025, each exceeding 200 words and focusing explicitly on the case. The findings reveal that The Jakarta Post employed moral and social framing centered on public accountability, while Reuters adopted legal and institutional framing emphasizing procedural neutrality and institutional credibility. These contrasts highlight differing orientations and journalistic functions: The Jakarta Post aligns with advocacy-driven national media, whereas Reuters represents objectivity-centered international journalism.

Abstract

This study examined how PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk managed the communication of gas price increases to industrial and commercial customers in Bogor Area. As declining pipeline gas was increasingly balanced by Liquefied Natural Gas supply, price adjustment required more careful policy communication. A convergent mixed-methods case study was used. Qualitative data came from interviews with the General Manager, Area Head, and Customer Management officers, while quantitative data came from questionnaires completed by 81 customers. The findings showed that PGN’s communication was educational, situational, and relational. Email supported formal notification, WhatsApp and telephone accelerated clarification, and direct visits were most important for trust building. Customers rated the process positively, but the logical acceptance of the price increase remained the weakest aspect.
