Abstract

Purpose– Tourism is a continuously growing industry that contributes to increasing national income and economic growth in East Java; however, it also impacts the natural and social environment. Green tourism aims to implement environmentally sustainable practices (ESP) by integrating functional value price (FVP), functional value quality (FVQ), and social value responsibility (SVR) into consumer choice behavior (CCB). This study examines the mediating roles of FVP, FVQ, and SVR in the relationship between ESP and CCB. Methodology– This study adopts a quantitative approach by distributing an online survey to 150 respondents and analyzes the relationships between variables using the PLS-SEM approach. Finding– The findings show that ESP significantly influences CCB, FVQ, FVP, and SVR. CCB is directly affected by ESP and FVQ, but not by FVP or SVR. Only FVQ mediates the ESP–CCB relationship significantly. These results underscore the role of high-quality sustainability practices in shaping consumer choices, suggesting that green tourism stakeholders should prioritize product quality and sustainable efforts. Originality – This manuscript's originality lies in examining the intermediary functional of FVP, FVQ, and SVR in linking ESP to CCB in the setting of green tourism in East Java.

Abstract

Purpose – This research analyzed the relationship model between employee poaching, career development, work-life balance, job satisfaction, and turnover intention in private university lecturers in North Sumatra. Methodology – Data was collected through an online survey using a structured questionnaire sent to lecturers working at various regional private universities. The number of samples explored was 200 lecturers. Following the process, path analysis methods using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were used to test the proposed relationship model. Results – The results showed that employee poaching, work-life balance, and job satisfaction had a positive and significant effect on turnover intention. Meanwhile, other research results found that career development had a positive and not significant effect on turnover intention. Originality – The results provided valuable perception for private higher education management in understanding the factors that influenced turnover intention of lecturers and developing effective strategies to retain as well as increase satisfaction and retention of lecturers. The results of this analysis also contributed to human resource management research and literature, specifically in the context of higher education in Indonesia. By paying attention to these factors, higher education institutions can maintain and increase retention of lecturers and improve the general quality of higher education in the North Sumatra region.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to evaluate the impact of financial performance on firm value growth in the context of global competition, focusing on the manufacturing industry in Batam. Methodology – A quantitative approach involving 10 companies and 110 participants was used in this research. Some data were collected through a questionnaire containing statements related to the variables of this research. SmartPLS software was used in data analysis to examine the relationships between variables and indicators that influence firm value growth. Findings – The results show that financial performance significantly affects the growth of firm value, with a very high correlation. In contrast, the relationships between financial performance and global competition, as well as between global competition and the growth of firm value, were not statistically significant. As a mediating variable, global competition does not provide a significant contribution, as indicated by a very low correlation value and T-statistics that are below the significance limit. These findings confirm that the effective financial performance management through improved profitability, liquidity, and solvency is an essential factor of the growth of firm value. Originality – This study offers new insight by exploring global competition as a mediating variable between financial performance and the growth of company value in the underexplored manufacturing sector in Batam.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aimed to examine the influence of financial socialization on behavior, with skills and digital knowledge acting as mediating variables among Generation Z. Methodology – A quantitative method was used by distributing an online questionnaire to 411 Generation Z respondents in Batam City. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. Findings – The results showed that financial socialization positively influenced behavior through skills and digital knowledge. Meanwhile, financial knowledge was not a significant mediator in the relationship. These emphasized the importance of developing practical and digital skills since education promoted real behavioral change among Generation Z. Originality – A better understanding of financial behavior was provided by incorporating digital knowledge and financial skills as key influencing factors in the context of the current landscape. This research was limited to a narrow age group and used convenience sampling, which affected generalization and offered useful insights for future analysis and education programs.

Abstract

Purpose—This study aims to examine the influence of transformational leadership and organizational culture on members' performance within the Indonesian Teachers Association in Lamongan Regency while analyzing the moderating role of person–organization fit in these relationship. Methodology – A quantitative explanatory research design was applied using a structured questionnaire which distributed to 327 members through an online survey. Some data were analyzed using structural equation modeling to test the measurement and structural models, ensuring the validity and reliability of the constructs before hypothesis testing. Findings – The results indicated that transformational leadership and organizational culture significantly and positively affect members' performance. Moreover, person–organization fit strengthens these effects by linking individual and organizational values, leading to higher involvement, motivation, and performance. The model demonstrates a strong explanatory power or analytical power, confirming that leadership, culture, and value congruence are key factors of members' performance. Originality – This study offers a original contribution by exploring value congruence and leadership effectiveness within a professional educational organization. It provides contextual understanding into how leadership and culture operate synergistically to strengthen performance in teacher associations, contributing to the theoretical and practical understanding of organizational performance in education-based institutions.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the influence of brand ambassador (Lee Min Ho), brand image, and price on purchase decisions for Azarine Cosmetic products, with electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) as a moderating variable. It addresses the limited evidence on the combined effects of these variables in the context of local cosmetic brands using global celebrity endorsements. Methodology – A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling with 200 Azarine users familiar with Lee Min Ho’s endorsement. Data were collected through online questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. Reliability and validity were confirmed through Cronbach’s Alpha, Composite Reliability, AVE, and discriminant validity. Findings – Brand ambassador significantly influenced e-WOM but had no direct effect on purchase decisions. In contrast, brand image and price significantly affected both e-WOM and purchase decisions. e-WOM also had a significant positive effect on purchase decisions. Furthermore, e-WOM strengthened the relationship between brand ambassador and purchase decisions but did not significantly moderate the effects of brand image and price. Originality – This study proposes an integrated model demonstrating how celebrity endorsement, brand image, price, and e-WOM jointly influence consumer purchase decisions, extending marketing and consumer behavior literature in the context of Indonesian local cosmetic brands.

Abstract

Purpose – The rising popularity of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services has been accompanied by growing concerns regarding over-indebtedness. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationships among financial literacy, risk perception, materialism, and indebtedness within the context of Generation Z BNPL users in Jabodetabek.  Methodology – A quantitative approach was employed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the relationships among variables. Data were collected from 315 BNPL users selected through purposive sampling via an online questionnaire. Findings – The findings show that financial literacy and risk perception play crucial roles in managing indebtedness among Generation Z BNPL users in Indonesia. However, materialism acts as a mediating mechanism, whereby the pursuit of happiness and social status through possessions connects financial literacy and risk perception to higher levels of indebtedness. Originality – This study offers originality by focusing on the mediating role of materialism in the relationships between financial literacy, risk perception, and indebtedness within the Indonesian BNPL context.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the impact of banks’ financial health, proxied by the Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) and Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), on bank market value, measured using Tobin’s Q, in developing Asian economies. In addition, the study investigates whether ESG disclosure serves as a mediating mechanism through which financial health is translated into firm value. Methodology – The study employs a quantitative approach using an unbalanced panel dataset covering 102 banks from developing Asian countries over the period 2009–2023, yielding 1,695 observations. Secondary data are obtained from the Bloomberg Terminal. Empirical analysis is conducted using panel regression with robust standard errors, incorporating country and year fixed effects. The mediating role of ESG disclosure is examined using path analysis and the Sobel test. Findings – The results indicate that LDR has a positive and significant effect on Tobin’s Q, while DER has a negative and significant effect. ESG disclosure positively affects bank value and mediates the relationship between LDR and Tobin’s Q, but not between DER and firm value. These findings suggest that ESG disclosure strengthens liquidity signals but cannot offset the adverse valuation effects of excessive leverage. Originality – This study integrates financial health indicators and ESG disclosure within a mediation framework, demonstrating that ESG disclosure complements financial fundamentals and enhances market valuation when supported by sound liquidity conditions in developing Asian economies.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to investigate the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and capital investment decisions in non-financial firms across BRICS countries. Specifically, it explores how environmental innovation moderates this relationship, and how the three ESG pillars - environmental, social, and governance- individually affect capital investment behavior. Methodology – The research utilizes a panel dataset comprising 3,120 firm-year observations covering the period from 2015 to 2024. To ensure robust estimation and address potential endogeneity and unobserved heterogeneity, the study applies both fixed-effects and system Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) regression techniques. Findings – The empirical results show that ESG performance, as well as its environmental and governance, has a positive and significant with capital investment. These findings suggest that ESG commitments help firms focus on long term investment, make it easier for them to access financing, and build trust with investors, which in turn encourages them to invest more in productive capital assets. The social pillar, however, does not have a significant effect on capital investment. Originality – This study contributes to the growing ESG–investment literature by disaggregating ESG into its three dimensions and introducing environmental innovation as a moderating variable. It offers novel insights into the interaction between investment efficiency and sustainability oriented practices in emergent market contexts by concentrating on BRICS.
