Abstract

Indonesia, causing distress among farmers due to their limited knowledge of how to handle the disease. This situation has been exploited by unscrupulous traders and middlemen who spread misinformation, claiming that cattle infected with FMD will inevitably die. Taking advantage of the panic, they purchase the animals at low prices and resell them at higher prices after treatment. To address this issue, a team of researchers from IPB University carried out a community outreach program aimed at improving farmers' literacy regarding FMD. As part of the program, a mobile-based expert system application was introduced, enabling farmers to perform quick, independent diagnoses based on observed symptoms. The evaluation results, based on pre-test and post-test assessments, showed a significant increase in farmers' understanding after attending the seminar. This innovation is expected to empower farmers to manage FMD more independently and effectively.

Abstract

The issue of mental health has recently become a prominent topic due to its significant impact. Various efforts have been undertaken, including the establishment of community-based mental health services such as Posyandu Jiwa (Mental Health Integrated Service Post). This community service involves health cadres from the Tikala Baru Public Health Center as partners, aiming to implement Posyandu Jiwa through training and mentorship for mental health cadres. Activities began with socialization, followed by training on mental health screening using SRQ (Self-Reporting Questionnaire) and SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire), along with the stages involved in the implementation of Posyandu Jiwa, culminating in the actual implementation of Posyandu Jiwa. Following the training, there was a notable increase in the knowledge levels of the cadres. Prior to training, 73.3% of cadres were categorized as having limited knowledge, which reduced to only 15.6% post-training. Additionally, there was an improvement in the skills required for conducting screenings, with an average skill score of 76.35 after training. The Posyandu Jiwa was conducted using a five-table system, with cadres stationed at each table and supported by Nurses.

Abstract

Abstract Rinca Island is an area in the 3T and still experiences inequality in many aspects, one of which is education. Limited access to education is shown through the condition of the school and students' knowledge about literacy and science of SDN Pulau Rinca. Unequal access makes students of SDN Pulau Rinca unable to learn science through experiments because they do not have the facilities such as the laboratory of science. This community program aims to develop science interest and reading interest of SDN Pulau Rinca students. The service was carried out by inviting students to play while learning, providing props for experiments, and providing picture books about light. The method in this service program is participatory. Students are invited to understand the phenomenon of light based on the physics point of view. The results of this service showed an increase in science interest and reading interest of SDN Pulau Rinca students. Experiments conducted with exploring games help students listen and understand the phenomenon of light well. The light phenomena taught include light can penetrate clear objects, light can be decomposed, light can be refracted, light can be reflected, and light propagates straight. Students understand the nature of light through phenomena that occur in the surrounding environment. This service also emphasizes the importance of protecting the environment to students through light experiments. Keywords: Education, Students, Teachers, Rinca Island, Literacy, Light Abstrak Pulau Rinca merupakan daerah 3T (Terdepan, Terluar, dan Tertinggal) yang masih mengalami ketimpangan dalam banyak aspek, salah satunya adalah pendidikan. Keterbatasan akses pendidikan ditunjukkan melalui kondisi sekolah dan pemahaman literasi dan sains siswa Sekolah Dasar Negeri (SDN) Pulau Rinca. Akses yang tidak merata membuat siswa SDN Pulau Rinca tidak dapat mempelajari sains melalui praktik uji coba sebab mereka tidak memiliki fasilitas yang memadai. Pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan untuk mengembangkan minat sains dan minat baca siswa SDN Pulau Rinca. Pengabdian dilakukan dengan mengajak siswa bermain sambil belajar, memberikan alat peraga untuk percobaan, dan memberikan buku bergambar tentang cahaya. Metode dalam pengabdian ini adalah partisipatoris. Siswa diajak untuk memahami fenomena cahaya berdasarkan sudut pandang fisika. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan minat sains dan minat baca siswa SDN Pulau Rinca. Eksperimen yang dilakukan dengan permainan menjelajah membantu siswa menyimak dan memahami fenomena cahaya dengan baik. Fenomena cahaya yang diajarkan di antaranya cahaya dapat menembus benda bening, cahaya dapat diuraikan, cahaya dapat dibiaskan, cahaya dapat dipantulkan, dan cahaya merambat lurus. Siswa memahami sifat cahaya melalui fenomena yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitar. Pengabdian ini juga menekankan pentingnya menjaga lingkungan kepada para siswa melalui percobaan cahaya. Abstract

Niufmolo is a farmer group located in Niufmolo Village with dry land biophysics with a dry climate that results in low productivity and partner income. Its management requires innovation and technology to be used as agricultural land. Verticulture as a transformation of vegetable cultivation is adopted to overcome several problems in farmer groups. This program aims to increase the productivity and income of the Niufmolo farmer group through verticulture technology on dry land. The method of implementing activities is through direct counseling and training. The results show an increase in pak choy productivity of 220-225 kg and income of IDR 5,000,000 in one planting cycle, an increase of 100% compared to conventional methods. This technology is a model for agricultural sustainability in dry climate areas

Abstract

Financial statements are structured representations that reflect business performance. The partner of this service activity, Papua Pastoral Grocery Store, faces various recording problems that are not in accordance with SAK EMKM, including recording inventory, fixed assets, debt, and profit and loss. This activity aims to increase partner capacity through training and mentoring, preparing Standar Operating Procedure, revising financial statement, compiling accurate manual books, compiling basic accounting pocketbooks. The result show an increase in partners understanding of basic financial accounting by 90%, progress in the application of record keeping in accordance with SAK EMKM, and improved operational efficiency through the application of new standard operation procedures. This program supports MSMEs in remote areas to be more financially independent.

Abstract

Stik Rumput Laut merupakan produk makanan yang semakin populer di masyarakat. Rumput laut kaya akan nutrisi dan memiliki banyak manfaat kesehatan. Usaha Stik Rumput Laut yang dikelola oleh Ibu Jamco di Desa Dullah Laut telah berjalan selama 5 tahun. Desa ini dikenal dengan budidaya rumput laut yang luas, memudahkan akses bahan baku dengan harga terjangkau. Namun, kelompok ini menghadapi tantangan dalam proses produksi yang masih manual, mengakibatkan waktu produksi yang lama dan output yang terbatas. Selain itu, kemasan produk masih sederhana tanpa label, dan pemahaman tentang pemasaran serta manajemen keuangan juga rendah. Program ini menawarkan solusi berupa penyediaan alat, perbaikan kemasan, pembuatan label, serta pelatihan dalam pemasaran dan manajemen keuangan. Abstract

In the context of scientific writing, the use of references or source material is of significant importance in ensuring the scientific rigour and quality of the paper in question. It is imperative that any quality scientific work make use of credible and reputable references, whether at the national or international level. It is not sufficient to simply use reputable references; the ability to manage reference sources is also required when presenting a literature review and research methods. Effective management of reference sources ensures that scientific work is free from plagiarism. The objective of this activity is to equip lecturers with the skills to utilise a reference manager, thereby streamlining the citation process and guaranteeing the inclusion of all referenced material in the bibliography. This programme constitutes the second activity in the series of training sessions on the writing of scientific papers, which were conducted by the Literacy, Media, and Culture Group in 2022. The training will provide lecturers with an understanding of the principles of writing quality scientific papers, as well as practical tips and techniques for implementing these principles in their own work. This activity aims to equip lecturers with the skills to avoid plagiarism and adapt their ideas to the format or style of the intended journal, ensuring that their work is written in standardised academic language. Following this training, lecturers should be able to produce scientific journals that meet the standards required for publication in reputable national and international journals.

Abstract

The problem that will be solved is: Girimulyo Village is one of the villages in Gunungkidul Regency where there have been suicide cases., There are three factors behind it, namely health, social, and economic problems. This Community Partnership Empowerment Program seeks solutions to problems by using the role of Healthy Villages to ensure the realization of inclusion in the elderly and disabilities in the Social, Health, and Economic fields. The methodology used is to strengthen Healthy Village cadres to carry out programs to overcome health, social and economic problems. In this Community Partnership Empowerment Program, there are outputs such as increasing the capacity of data collection, there is data on sorting out disabilities and the elderly in the village, there is an assessment of the needs of the disabled and the elderly, there is an increase in the capacity of Healthy Village cadres in providing services, there are operational standards of service procedures, there are additional skills in processed foods made from fish and moqf and knowledge of entrepreneurship and business management for representatives of people with disabilities, and the elderly and healthy village cadres. The role of the Healthy Village Team as in Girimulyo Village is very important in ensuring that people with disabilities and the elderly get attention, therefore in other villages organizations like this are very necessary and of course their role needs to be strengthened by being equipped with knowledge and skills and village funding support for the implementation of their activities.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the role of the Village Empowerment Team (Tim Pemberdayaan Desa Binaan = PDB) in efforts to empower Banyuraden Village, Sleman Regency, DIY through strengthening product’ brand image. Until now, the village has not had a product that can be a village characteristic. In fact, there has been a product produced since the seventies, namely lapis legit. Efforts to brand the product are carried out by increasing understanding of brand image, implementing controlled production, redesigning packaging, marketing strategies, and managing sustainable businesses. The results of this activity show an increase in business actors' awareness of the importance of brand image in attracting consumers and expanding the market. Strengthening brand image is expected to not only increase sales, but also create a distinctive identity for village products that can be an attraction in a wider market. Through this activity, strengthening product’ brand image has proven to be one of the effective steps in empowering village communities, increasing economic independence, and developing local potential more optimally.

Abstract

A community empowerment activity has been carried out aimed at applying simple fish processing technology to improve the economy of the people of Oransbari Beach, South Manokwari, starting from the problem, namely that although there is abundant fisheries potential, it has not significantly increased the economic income of fishing communities because the selling value is not commensurate with production costs due to lack of there are efforts to handle post-catch and a lack of efforts to diversify post-harvest fishery products. The method applied is Andragogik (adult learning) with activity stages namely socialization, training, application of technology, mentoring and evaluation monitoring. The results achieved are (1) facilitated efforts to increase mastery of knowledge and skills in processing various processed fish and various flavors, (2) facilitated the design of one unit of fish dryer/grilling equipment for post-harvest fish processing, (3) facilitated the provision of a cooler (freezer) to prevent post-catch damage and storage of fish, (4) facilitated the procurement of packaging machines for various processed fish products, (5) facilitated increasing the capacity of Partner resources in mastering knowledge and simple marketing skills
