Abstract

The results of a survey by researchers on the price of black pepper in Muara Langkap Village, Bermani Ilir District, Kepahiang Regency, currently (2023) is around IDR 45,000 lower than the previous year (2022) which was around IDR 49,0000. The low price of black pepper has caused losses for farmers. Farmers whose only source of income is pepper still sell all the pepper they have. This research is a qualitative research. The data obtained were analyzed using in-depth data processing methods from observations, interviews, and literature. The results of the study concluded that the average assessment of farmer knowledge was 2.62, which means that farmers agree that the price of black pepper is currently decreasing. Farmer behavior towards the decline in the price of black pepper averaged 26.45, including the high category, which means that farmers prefer to sell black pepper directly. The factors that influence farmers' behavior towards the decline in black pepper prices are knowledge (X1), attitude (X2) and training (X5), while the action factor (X3), facilities (X4) and regulations/policies (X6) do not affect. All factors together have a significant influence, because the significant value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the T-test, F-test, and correlation test of radiation and duration of sunlight exposure on the growth and production of sorghum plants. The research was conducted at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Climate Station in Indrapuri, Aceh Besar, from March to June 2023.The study employed Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, T-test, F-test, Correlation Coefficient, and Determination Coefficient. The results indicate that radiation and duration of sunlight exposure significantly affect plant height, number of leaves, and sorghum production. Regression analysis also shows that radiation and duration of sunlight exposure have a significant impact on all parameters studied. The T-test reveals that radiation does not have a partial effect on plant height and the number of leaves, but it does have a partial effect on weight and wet weight. On the other hand, the duration of sunlight exposure has a partial effect on plant height and the number of leaves, but it does not have a partial effect on the wet weight of samples and the wet weight. The simultaneous F-test analysis shows that radiation and duration of sunlight exposure have a simultaneous effect on plant height. Correlation analysis shows that plant height, number of leaves, wet weight per sample, and wet weight per plot are related.

Abstract

One of the technological developments in the field of agriculture is agricultural cultivation technology with a hydroponic system. The category of hydroponic systems that are currently widely used is hydroponics with the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) system. NFT is a hydroponic cultivation system by putting the roots of plants in a thin layer of water where the plants get nutrients from the nutrient solution that flows through the gutters, the flow of nutrient on NFT hydroponic circulated continuously so that the plant's nutritional needs can be fulfilled. NFT hydroponic vegetables is  suitable to be cultivated for leafy vegetables, like a Japanese spinach plant (Spinacia Oleracea L.). The purpose of these research was to test the design of NFT Hydroponic with slope 3%. In the testing performance of hydroponic NFT consist of three parameters.  These parameters include the testing of irrigation efficiency, pH values and Electrical Conductivity (EC) solution and the uniformity of crop productivity. Data obtained from this study were analyzed based on its design to determine the effect of each parameter on plant growth. The highest irrigation efficiency value on day 11 was 92.00% and the lowest on day 24 was 89.42%, the value indicates that there is water loss in the water slope caused by several factors. The highest electrical conductivity (EC) uniformity value reached 92.10% and the lowest was 86.95%, this percentage indicates the high nutrients contained in the water flow in the reservoir. The highest pH solution uniformity value reached 99.51% and the lowest was 91.18%. These three factors indicate that the analysis of the three values is quite uniform in each gutter. Based on the results of NFT hydroponic growth, it looks quite varied so it can be concluded that it is less uniform. The smallest weight of the Japanese spinach plant produced was 13 grams while the largest was 70 grams. The uneven weight of the plant can be influenced by less than optimal environmental conditions and the selection of nutrients that are not right for Japanese spinach plants.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the plantation commodities that has quite high economic value among other plantation crops and plays an important role as a source of foreign exchange for the country. The success of coffee agribusiness requires the support of all parties involved in the coffee production process, processing and marketing of coffee commodities. In Kepahiang Regency, coffee is a plantation commodity that is very popular with the community. This can be seen from the increase in coffee consumption in Kepahiang Regency which has experienced a significant increase. One of the weaknesses of coffee is in terms of distribution and marketing. A marketing system is said to be efficient if it can provide maximum satisfaction for producers, consumers and marketers with the lowest possible use of economic resources. The processing of coffee into Green Bean coffee carried out by farmers is to increase and maximize the income and standard of living of the farmer's household, which in the end can meet the needs of their family. To increase farmers' income, various marketing channels are used to distribute the results of coffee processing into green coffee beans from producer to consumer level. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out a more in-depth study on "Channel Analysis and Marketing Margins for Coffee Beans (green beans) in Cugung Lalang Village, Ujan District, Regency Kepahiang.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of the timing of application and the dosage of water hyacinth bokashi, as well as the interaction between the two, on the growth and yield of red onions in polybags. The research uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is the timing of bokashi application, which consists of three levels: application at planting time (W0), application one week before planting (W1), and application two weeks before planting (W2). The second factor is the dosage of bokashi, which consists of five levels: control (DO); 12.5 grams (D1); 25 grams (D3); 37.5 grams (D4); and 50 grams. (D5). The research results indicate that the application timing significantly affects plant height at 6 MST, the number of leaves at 2 MST, and the dry weight of red onions. The bokashi dosage significantly affects plant height at 2 MST, 4 MST, and 6 MST, the number of leaves at 2 MST, and the dry weight of the onions. Meanwhile, the interaction between the timing of application and bokashi dosage significantly affects all observed variables, except for plant height at 2 MST, 6 MST, and dry weight, which show a very significant effect. The application of bokashi two weeks before planting (W2) is the best timing that yields better growth and results for red onions compared to applying it at planting time (W0) and one week before planting (W1). The bokashi dose (D3) of 33.22 gr is the optimal dosage for promoting the growth and yield of red onions.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding red pitaya peel flour with different doses in feed on hematological parameters, growth performance, and utilization of sangkuriang catfish feed. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Sangkuriang catfish seeds with an average size of 27.79 ± 3.31 g were reared as many as 10 fish for 25 days with a water volume of 30 L. The fish were given treatment feed with doses of (P0) 0%, (P1) 5%, (P2) 10%, and (P3) 20% red pitaya peel flour in the feed. Feeding was carried out three times a day ad satiation. The results showed that the hematological parameters of Sangkuriang catfish were still in the normal range with the addition of red pitaya peel flour up to a dose of 20% in the feed. The addition of red pitaya peel flour had a significant effect on the absolute weight growth and feed conversion ratio of Sangkuriang catfish but had no significant effect on the specific growth rate (P>0.05). The treatment dose of 5% red pitaya in feed (P1) gave the highest absolute weight growth of 28.65 g, and the lowest feed conversion ratio was 1.30. Based on the results of this study, a dose of 5% red pitaya peel flour in feed has the potential as a feed additive in catfish cultivation.

Abstract

The decline in blue swimming crab populations can be caused by overfishing and several factors of the aquatic environment, such as anthropogenic pollution, water quality and the presence of ectoparasite in the crab. Molecular studies are essential to validate a particular species of ectoparasites and ectosymbionts that infect Crab. A total of 143 crabs were sampled from fishermen in Demak, Muara Gembong and Labuhan Maringgai. Six ectoparasite and ectosymbionts species, Chelonibia testudinaria (Crustacea), Dianajonesia tridens (Crustacea), Octolasmis angulata, O. warwicki (Crustacea), Ostrea puelchana (Mollusca) and Thompsonia sp. (Crustacea) were isolated. Three ectoparasite and ectosymbionts species that were successfully validated based on the COI mtDNA genes were C. testudinaria, D. tridens, Oc. angulata. Validation of isolated ectoparasites infecting P. pelagicus was performed using the mtDNA marker COI gene to identify three ectoparasite species molecularly, namely C. testudinaria, D. tridens, and Oc. angulata. The results of the five sample analyses of ectoparasites based on the number of specific nucleotide sites in each sample show that the suspected species C. testudinaria, D. tridens and Oc. angulata had missense mutations.
