Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of critical thinking skills and the lack of student awareness regarding waste issues in their surrounding environment. One of the contributing factors is the use of learning materials that are not aligned with students' needs. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a teaching module oriented toward the Problem-Based Learning model, supported by the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) method, to improve the critical thinking skills of students in Phase B. This study adopts the Design and Development (D&D) method using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests, with both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The initial design of the module includes components such as the front cover, preface, table of contents, general information, core competencies, learning activities, conclusion, appendices, and back cover. Expert validation was conducted twice: before and after revision. The feasibility scores increased after revision, with assessments from subject matter experts improving from 94.2% to 99.4%, media experts from 91.4% to 94.8%, and learning experts from 86.4% to 90.6%. The overall average increased from 90.6% to 94.9%. Implementation of the module with fourth-grade Phase B students showed improved learning outcomes. The average pretest score increased from 49.7 to 80.9 in the posttest. The N-Gain score of 0.61 indicates a “Moderate” improvement. Therefore, this PBL-oriented module using the 3R method is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Elementary schools are formal institutions that serve as the first crucible for instilling good character in children. The content of character values, combined with character values, shapes students' identities, each with its uniqueness. Values and culture derived from local wisdom in a particular region serve as one of its philosophical foundations. This study analyzes the implementation of Islamic character values in the Sisinglar Lembur implementation through the participation of elementary school students in Kawali. Using a qualitative case study approach based on Social Learning Theory, this study reveals how tradition functions as an arena for social learning. Results indicate that students internalize the values of mutual cooperation, respect, and responsibility through modeling by adults and reinforcement of representation. The mechanisms of attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation are proven effective, making local wisdom a living curriculum for character building.

Abstract

This research aims to develop historical map learning media for the History subject, specifically the topic "Islamic Kingdoms." This study used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. However, this research only went to three stages: Analysis, Design, and Development. The research subjects were teachers and 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Hulu Kuantan. In the definition stage, a needs and materials analysis was conducted to design a documentary film that aligned with the analysis. The design stage involved selecting materials and media appropriate to the analysis. The development stage involved creating a historical map using ArcGIS, which was then validated by material and media experts. The validation results showed that the developed historical map fell into the very valid media validation category (100%), and the valid material and language validation category (57.14%). Next, the historical map was piloted on 24 10th-grade students. The trial results showed that historical maps were "very practical" for use in learning, with an average practicality score of 88.8% from teachers and 84.03% from students. Based on the research findings, ArcGIS-assisted Historical Map Learning Media for the Islamic Kingdoms in Sumatra topic using the ADDIE development model can be developed.
