Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of students’ skills in writing popular scientific articles. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using the Discovery Learning model on improving the writing skills of popular scientific articles among eleventh-grade students. The research method applied is an experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The population of the study consists of all eleventh-grade students, while the sample includes an experimental class taught using Discovery Learning and a control class taught through conventional instruction. The research instrument is a test of writing popular scientific articles that has been validated and tested for reliability. The findings reveal a significant difference in writing skills between the experimental and control groups. The implementation of Discovery Learning is proven to be more effective in enhancing students’ ability to write popular scientific articles.

Abstract

Language acquisition is a complex process that occurs naturally in children from an early age, especially in the morphological aspect which includes the formation and use of words. This study aims to explain how morphological acquisition, especially the affixation process, occurs in 3-year-old children. The subject in this study was Rayyanza Malik Ahmad, the son of public figures Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina. Rayyanza's age, which is now 3 years old, is considered a crucial phase in language development, where children begin to master morphological forms such as prefixes, suffixes, and confixes. This type of research is qualitative research. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. The data for this study are utterances containing affixation sentences delivered by the research subjects and data sources come from 20 videos with a duration of 10 to 25 minutes in each video. The main instrument is the researcher himself. Data collection techniques are recording techniques and free listening techniques. This study shows that Rayyanza's morphological acquisition occurs faster than the average child his age. He has been able to use complex word forms and compound sentences, which are generally only mastered by children aged 4–5 years. The speed of this acquisition is influenced by several factors, including: a supportive and communicative family environment, active social interaction, use of media and technology, supportive social status, and good intelligence and cognitive abilities. Exposure to rich language in various real-life contexts also accelerated the process of acquiring affixation in Rayyanza.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low learning outcomes grade V students in the subject of science at SD Negeri Tanabangka, Gowa Regency. This study aims to describe the application of the use of smart box learning media in improving the learning outcomes of grade V students in the subject of science at SD Negeri Tanabangka, Gowa Regency. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings with activity stages including, planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The focus of the research in this study is the application of Smart Box learning media and student learning outcomes. The research subjects were teachers and all grade V students in the subject of science at SD Negeri Tanabangka, Gowa Regency. totaling 35 students consisting of 16 boys and 19 girls. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and tests. The research instruments used were teacher and student observation sheets, as well as student learning outcome assessment sheets. The data analysis techniques used were qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The results of the study on the application of Smart Box learning media to improve the learning outcomes of grade V students in the subject of science at SD Negeri Tanabangka, Gowa Regency. in the implementation of the first cycle were in the sufficient category, and there was an increase in the second cycle which was in the good category and achieved the predetermined indicators, namely the results of teacher and student observations obtained a percentage value of ≥ 76%. The conclusion of this study is that by implementing Smart Box learning media, it can improve the learning outcomes of grade V students in the subject of science at SD Negeri Tanabangka, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe and analyze the character education values contained in the novel " Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas" by Eka Kurniawan. These character education values consist of virtue, beauty, work, patriotism, democracy, unity, morality, humanity, justice, and cooperation.The research method used was qualitative. The method used was descriptive analysis. The data in this study consisted of words, sentences, and discourse. The data source was the novel " Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas" by Eka Kurniawan. The researcher chose this novel as a data source because it tells the story of a character named Ajo Kawir, who becomes impotent due to an incident he witnessed as a child. The instrument used in this research was a data inventory format. The data collection technique used in this study was a literature review. The data validation technique used investigator triangulation. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that character education values are represented through events, characters, and meaningful dialogue. These values include virtue, beauty, work, patriotism, democracy, unity, morality, humanity, justice, and cooperation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the concept sentence learning model assisted by flash card media on the narrative writing skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Sandana. The background of this research is the low ability of students in writing narratives, as indicated by difficulties in arranging paragraphs according to structure, the use of colloquial language, and the limited use of appropriate conjunctions. This research employed a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Nonequivalent Control Group design. The sample consisted of 32 students, divided into an experimental class (using the concept sentence model with flash card media) and a control class (conventional learning). Data were collected through observation, writing tests (pretest and posttest), documentation, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and N-Gain Score calculation. The results showed a significant improvement in the writing ability of the experimental class, with the average score increasing from 39.06 to 82.19 (an increase of 43.13 points), while the control class only increased from 27.5 to 34.38 (an increase of 6.88 points). Student responses to the learning process were also highly positive. It is concluded that the concept sentence learning model assisted by flash card media is effective and significantly improves the narrative writing skills of elementary school students. Abstract

The ability to shooting is an essential skill in futsal that determines the success of scoring goals. Improving this ability requires appropriate physical training to optimize muscle strength, coordination, and kicking accuracy. This study aims to determine the effect of resistance band training on shooting ability in futsal among students of SMA Negeri 1 Malili. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design, in which initial measurements (pretest) were taken before the treatment and final measurements (posttest) after the treatment. The population consisted of all futsal extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 1 Malili (35 students), while the sample comprised 15 students selected through random sampling. The resistance band training program was conducted for six weeks with a frequency of three sessions per week, totaling 18 training sessions. Shooting ability was measured through a kicking test from a distance of 6 meters toward a futsal goal with predetermined target areas. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with an average increase of 7.40 points and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The percentage increase in shooting ability was 46.25%, categorized as very good. It can be concluded that resistance band training is effective in improving leg muscle strength, coordination, and body stability, which directly contribute to enhancing shooting ability in futsal among SMA Negeri 1 Malili students.

Abstract

Low conceptual understanding, minimal active student involvement, and a lack of differentiation in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning in elementary schools are major problems. This study aims to implement a differentiated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using Pondoh media to improve the conceptual understanding of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Purwokerto Lor. Using the Classroom Action Research (PTK) approach based on the spiral model by Kemmis and McTaggart, this study was conducted in three cycles encompassing planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 22 fifth-grade students, with data collected through formative tests, observations, documentation, and interviews, then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The research results showed a significant improvement in conceptual understanding. In Cycle I, achievement reached 68.18% with an average score of 66.82, increased to 90.91% with an average score of 83.64 in Cycle II, and achieved 100% achievement in Cycle III with an average score of 88.18. The ability to interpret, classify, and connect concepts showed consistent development. The differentiated PBL approach using Pondoh media proved effective in enhancing active engagement and holistic understanding among students, aligning with the diversity of learning characteristics. This approach is recommended for widespread implementation in thematic learning under the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

This traditional game of gobak sodor was played as an effort to improve the gross motor skills of Group B children at Cempaka Glantangan Kindergarten in Tempurejo District, Jember Regency, as well as to introduce traditional games that are rarely played by children nowadays. This study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The subjects of this study were the students of Group B at TK Cempaka Glantangan in Tempurejo District, Jember Regency, consisting of 15 children, including 4 boys and 11 girls. The initial research results conducted in the pre-cycle stage showed a lack of gross motor skills in children, with a percentage of 33.33% or falling into the “Beginning to Develop” (MB) category. The research results conducted in Cycle I obtained a percentage of 53.33% and were still in the “Beginning to Develop” (MB) category. Meanwhile, the results of the research in Cycle II showed an improvement in the children's gross motor skills by 86.66%, which falls into the “Developing as Expected” (DE) category. From these research results, it can be concluded that playing the traditional game of gobak sodor can improve the gross motor skills of Group B children at TK Cempaka Glantangan in Tempurejo District, Jember Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the gross motor skills of early childhood children through the traditional game activity Dengklek. The researcher used classroom action research (PTK) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation. The research was conducted at TK J – A RUMMI Jatisari, Jenggawah, Jember, involving 28 students in group B.Data collection techniques used were observation results and documentation. The results of the study showed that in the pre-cycle, 8 children (28.5%) achieved the expected level of development. In cycle 1, 13 students (46.4%) reached the target, and in cycle 2, there was an increase to 23 students (82.1%).It can thus be concluded that the Dengklek traditional game activity can improve the gross motor skills of early childhood children, as evidenced by the results of the research conducted at TK J – A RUMMI Jatisari, Jenggawah, Jember.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of arm muscle strength, leg muscle strength, and hand-eye coordination to the smash ability in volleyball players of the Barengko Salutubu Team. The research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population consisted of all 15 male volleyball players of the Barengko Salutubu Team, who were also selected as the sample using a total sampling technique. The instruments used included physical tests to measure arm muscle strength (push-up), leg muscle strength (standing broad jump), hand-eye coordination (ball throw and catch), and smash ability. Descriptive analysis results indicated that the players’ average physical abilities and smash performance were in the good category. Pearson correlation tests showed that all three independent variables had a significant relationship with smash ability: arm muscle strength (r = 0.868; p < 0.001), leg muscle strength (r = 0.651; p = 0.009), and hand-eye coordination (r = 0.744; p = 0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that all variables contributed significantly, with arm muscle strength being the dominant factor. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.899 indicates that 89.9% of the variability in smash ability can be explained by the three variables. Therefore, it can be concluded that arm muscle strength, leg muscle strength, and hand-eye coordination all contribute significantly, both individually and collectively, to volleyball smash ability. The study recommends that coaches focus on developing these physical components in athletes’ training programs.
