Abstract

Learning to write descriptive texts faces several problems, including students' difficulty in expressing ideas, low interest and enthusiasm, poor language use, monotonous learning, and a lack of active interaction between teachers and students. The discovery learning model and papercraft diorama media can be alternatives to improve students' descriptive writing skills. The objectives of this study are: 1) to test the effectiveness of the discovery learning model and papercraft diorama media in teaching descriptive text writing to seventh-grade students at MTs Darul Falah Bongas for the 2024/ 2025, and 2) to determine how students engage in descriptive text writing instruction by applying the discovery learning model and papercraft diorama media among seventh-grade students at MTs Darul Falah Bongas for the 2024/2025 academic year. This study employs an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Based on statistical calculations using the independent samples t-test, the calculated t-value was 3.347 and the table t-value was 2.000. Thus, the calculated t-value (3.347) > table t-value (2.000), indicating that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be stated that the discovery learning model and diorama papercraft media are effective when applied in teaching descriptive text writing to seventh-grade students at MTs Darul Falah Bongas in the 2024/2025 academic year. Based on the analysis of the observation data results.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the importance of scientific literacy in cultivating an environmental awareness and care among elementary school students. Although various environmental programs have been implemented in schools, initial observations indicate that student behaviors in maintaining the environment are often motivated by external instructions rather than grounded in a strong scientific understanding. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this study collected data through online documentation and semi-structured interviews involving representatives from the Sub-district Environmental Agency, school principals, classroom teachers, and science subject teachers. The results reveal that students’ comprehension of scientific concepts related to environmental issues is essential in fostering both awareness and intrinsic motivation to protect and preserve nature. A lack of scientific literacy tends to reduce environmental initiatives into repetitive routines that lack meaningful internalization. Therefore, integrating scientific literacy into the curriculum and learning activities is considered crucial in shaping a generation that is not only environmentally conscious but also scientifically informed and responsible.

Abstract

The problem in this research is the low critical thinking skills of student, caused by one-way, monotonous learning with minimal activity variation. The solution implemented is the use of a combination of PBL, TPS, and the Example Non Example model, supported by Floating Market media. The aim of this Classroom Action Research, conducted over three meetings, is to describe the improvement of students' critical thinking skills. The subjects were 12 third-grade students of SDN Benua Anyar 10 Banjarmasin. Data were collected through observation of students' critical thinking. The results showed a significant improvement: students’ skills increased from "A Few Very Skilled" in the first meeting to "Almost All Very Skilled" in the third meeting. Teacher performance in applying the learning models consistently achieved a "Very Good" category. This combination of learning models and media proved effective in enhancing students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the ASSURE instructional design model (Analyze Learners, State Objectives, Select Methods, Media, and Materials, Utilize Media and Materials, Require Learner Participation, Evaluate and Revise) integrated with multimedia to overcome student learning difficulties in Fiqh. The research was conducted at MI At-Taqwa Madiun. Using a qualitative approach and a descriptive method, data was collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the application of the multimedia-based ASSURE model is an effective strategy. The process begins with an analysis of student characteristics and learning styles, followed by the selection of relevant methods, media, and teaching materials. The success of this model is also supported by active student participation, which has been shown to minimize their learning difficulties. In conclusion, the ASSURE model, enriched with multimedia, serves as a significant alternative solution to improve the quality of Fiqh learning.

Abstract

K-Means is a non-hierarchical data clustering method based on data similarity, capable of grouping data into several clusters. In other words, data with similar characteristics are grouped into the same cluster, while data with differing characteristics are placed in separate clusters. The K-Means method can be applied to various types of data, including those in the governmental sector. Although the K-Means algorithm has been widely utilized, its application in government-related activities remains limited, often restricted to selection or recruitment processes. Moreover, the use of attributes in such studies needs to be expanded to achieve more optimal results. This study reviews several articles that implement the K-Means method in research related to public administration. Based on the findings, journals discussing the use of the K-Means algorithm for clustering in government contexts are proven to be relevant and beneficial for future research. It can be concluded that the K-Means method is a validated approach and can be effectively employed for clustering in the public sector. This method also offers advantages across various aspects of governance, benefiting stakeholders, the general public, and other administrative domains.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a science-based digital encyclopedia as a teaching material intended for fourth-grade students at SDN 159 Palembang. The background of this research is the lack of engaging, interactive, and student-centered teaching materials that meet the needs of students in understanding IPAS content, especially the theme of human sensory organs. Therefore, the development of this teaching material is expected to support the learning process at SDN 159 Palembang to become more effective. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. At the analysis stage, observations and interviews with educators were conducted to identify learning needs. The findings revealed that the learning process remained conventional and lacked the use of digital media. Consequently, a digital encyclopedia was developed based on the learning achievements of the Merdeka Curriculum. This product is presented in a digital format containing content material, attractive illustrations, and interactive features that support learning. Validation by subject matter experts, language experts, and media experts showed that this encyclopedia is highly valid with an average score of 96.3%. Practicality testing also showed very positive responses, with scores of 96% from educators and 83% from students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive learning medium assisted by Macromedia Flash 8 software, integrated with Islamic values, on the topic of circles for eight-grade junior high school students. The background of this research is based on the low interest and understanding of students in learning mathematics, particularly in the topic of circles. In addition, the learning media used by teachers are still less varied, and there is no interactive mathematics learning medium integrated with Islamic values, which makes the learning process less engaging. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research instruments include validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The validation results show that the material expert obtained a score of 3.74 (feasible), the media expert obtained 3.76 (feasible), and the Islamic studies expert obtained 3.50 (feasible). Student responses in the small group trial reached 3.29 and in the large group trial 3.39, both categorized as very interesting. Based on the calculation of the effect size of 0.56, the interactive learning medium is considered quite effective in improving students understanding of the concept of circles.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Describe the implementation of the literacy program at SDS Kupu-Kupu, 2) Explain the role of the literacy program in developing the verbal-linguistic intelligence of fifth-grade students, and 3) describe the impact of the literacy program on the non-academic achievements of fifth-grade students in areas related to language skills. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving the principal, teachers, library staff, and fifth-grade students at SDS Kupu-Kupu as research subjects. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman qualitative data analysis model, which includes three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. The results of the study show that the implementation of the literacy program at SDS Kupu-Kupu was carried out in stages through the habituation, development, and learning phases. The program contributed positively to the development of students verbal-linguistic intelligence, such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing evident in their reading habits, creative writing, and confidence in expressing opinions and participating in discussions. Additionally, the program had a positive impact on students non-academic achievements in language-related areas, supported by the school’s encouragement for student participation in language competitions, which helped build self-confidence and nurture students’ interests and talents.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of tutoring on elementary school students' learning motivation. The research method used is quantitative research using correlational methods. The population was all 88 fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Perumnas Antang 3, with a sample size of 60 students selected using simple random sampling. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire on tutoring and student learning motivation, which was tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used the Pearson product-moment correlation test with the help of SPSS. The results showed a significant effect of tutoring on student learning motivation. The correlation coefficient (r) was 0.812 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a very strong and significant relationship between the two variables. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.659 indicates that tutoring contributed 65.9% to the variation in student learning motivation, with the remainder influenced by factors outside the study. Therefore, it can be concluded that tutoring positively contributes to improving elementary school students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of training using resistance bands and medicine balls on the smash ability of volleyball extracurricular students at SMA Frater Palopo. The research was conducted from May to June 2025 at SMA Frater, located in Palopo City, South Sulawesi Province. The research method used was an experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 students divided into two groups: Group A used resistance band training and Group B used medicine ball training, with a total of 16 treatment sessions. The instrument used was a smash test with five target attempts. The data analysis results showed that both types of training had a significant effect on improving smash ability. Based on the paired sample t-test, a significant value (p < 0.05) was obtained in both groups. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample t-test showed no significant difference between Group A and Group B (p = 0.067). Therefore, it can be concluded that resistance band training and medicine ball training do not have a significant difference in improving the smash ability of volleyball extracurricular students.
