Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

Speaking anxiety is a psychological factor that frequently inhibits students’ confidence and fluency in Arabic language learning. One approach with potential to address this issue is Mindfulness Training, which emphasizes non-judgmental awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Mindfulness Training in reducing Arabic speaking anxiety in terms of physiological, cognitive, and affective aspects, as well as to identify the aspect most influenced by the intervention. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 58 eighth-grade students at MTs Wahid Hasyim 1 Dau, Malang. Data were collected through an Arabic speaking anxiety questionnaire administered before and after six intervention sessions, and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and the Friedman test. The results revealed a significant reduction in speaking anxiety across all aspects, with a significance value of p = 0.000. The cognitive aspect showed the greatest decrease (Δ = 9.97), followed by the physiological (Δ = 8.48) and affective aspects (Δ = 7.26). These findings confirm that Mindfulness Training is effective in reducing Arabic speaking anxiety, particularly through changes in students’ cognitive processes.

This study aims to improve student learning motivation through the application of the outdoor study method in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) for fourth-grade elementary school students. The study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach with a two-cycle design, each encompassing planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were fourth-grade students at the UPT SD Negeri 060823 Medan. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, learning achievement tests, and documentation. The results showed that the application of the outdoor study method significantly increased student learning motivation. In the first cycle, student learning motivation was in the moderate category at around 55%, while in the second cycle it increased to around 90%. This increase in motivation was characterized by increased student activeness, enthusiasm in participating in learning, and student involvement in direct observation activities in the school environment. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the outdoor study method is effective as an alternative contextual learning method to increase student learning motivation in IPAS in elementary school.

This study aims to improve the learning motivation of fourth-grade students through the use of interactive learning media in the subject of natural sciences (IPAS) on the material of states of matter at UPT SDN 105325. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach with the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is implemented in two cycles. The research subjects were 18 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used descriptive percentage techniques. The results of the study showed that student learning motivation experienced a significant increase after the implementation of interactive learning media. In the pre-cycle stage, student learning motivation was in the very low category with a percentage of 50%. After the action was carried out in cycle I, student learning motivation increased to 78% with a moderate category. Furthermore, in cycle II student learning motivation increased again to 86% and was in the very high category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of interactive learning media is able to improve student learning motivation in the subject of natural sciences (IPAS) on the material of states of matter. Interactive learning media makes the learning process more interesting, active, and enjoyable, thus encouraging students to be more involved in learning activities.

The success of natural science learning (IPAS) in elementary schools cannot be separated from students' learning motivation and activity during the learning process. In practice, learning evaluations that still rely on traditional methods often fail to optimally encourage student engagement. This condition indicates the need for alternative evaluations that are more interactive and relevant to the characteristics of elementary school students. This study focused on the use of Kahoot as a game-based evaluation media to improve learning motivation and activity of fifth-grade students at SDS Al-Washliyah 01 Medan. The approach used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two action cycles. Each cycle was carried out through the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the actions taken. The research subjects consisted of 23 students. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire, student activity observation sheets, and documentation of the learning process. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively in a descriptive manner by comparing the percentage achievements at the pre-cycle stage, cycle I, and cycle II. The results of the study showed a significant increase in both variables being examined. Students' learning motivation, which initially was at 62%, rose to 78% in cycle I and increased further to 89% in cycle II. Meanwhile, student activeness also showed a positive trend, increasing from 58% in the pre-cycle to 73% in cycle I, and reaching 91% in cycle II. These findings indicate that the use of Kahoot as an evaluation tool is able to encourage more active student participation and create a more engaging, student-centered IPAS learning environment.

The background of this research is the low level of literacy and numeracy in the Education Report Cards of Junior High Schools (SMP) in Tegal Regency, where learning is still conventional and isolated within specific subjects. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Math City Map (MCM) application in improving the pedagogical competence of mathematics teachers in Dukuhwaru District. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (Pretest-Posttest). The participants consisted of 10 teachers from 5 schools. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in the average score from 64.75 (pretest) to 85.35 (posttest), with a mean difference of 20.60 points. Statistical testing using the t-test yielded a p-value of 0.00003 (< 0.05), indicating a highly significant difference. Furthermore, regression analysis showed that the intervention contributed 69% to the final outcome. In conclusion, the application of MCM is effective in enhancing teachers' pedagogical competence and creating a contextual, meaningful learning atmosphere.

This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes in Civic Education on the topic of Lingkunganku through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model for fourth grade students at UPT SD Negeri 060923 Medan. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were all fourth grade students. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observations of teacher and student activities, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive quantitative methods to identify improvements in learning outcomes and descriptive qualitative methods to describe learning activities. The results showed that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model effectively improved students’ learning outcomes and learning engagement. In the initial condition, only 45% of students achieved learning mastery. After the implementation of actions in Cycle I, learning mastery increased to 65%, and further improved to 85% in Cycle II. In addition to the improvement in learning outcomes, students’ activity and participation in the learning process also increased, as indicated by active involvement in discussions, the ability to express opinions, and collaboration among students. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving learning outcomes in Civic Education on the topic of Lingkunganku for fourth grade students and supports the creation of active, meaningful learning in accordance with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum.

This study aims to explore the implementation of the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5) in shaping students’ character at MI Bustanul Ulum. Using a qualitative approach with an exploratory descriptive design, data were collected through participatory observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving teachers and fifth-grade students. The results show that P5 contributes positively to the internalization of Pancasila values such as cooperation, independence, responsibility, and social awareness among students. Support from the principal and active involvement of teachers serve as key supporting factors, although challenges remain, including limited facilities and teachers’ understanding of the essence of P5. Routine evaluations and collaborative approaches have proven effective in maintaining the quality of program implementation. These findings reinforce the importance of P5 as a contextual and sustainable character education model aligned with Islamic values in the madrasah environment.

This study aims to analyze the influence of using "Monopoly Science" media on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students regarding ecosystem topics. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (One Group Pretest-Posttest) was employed, involving 33 students from SD Muhammadiyah Blimbingrejo as research subjects. Data were collected through validated pretest and posttest instruments, then analyzed using simple linear regression, N-Gain, and Paired Sample T-tests. The results indicated that the Monopoly Science media contributed 62% to student learning outcomes (R2 = 0,620). The N-Gain analysis showed an average score of 0.6039 (moderate category) with an effectiveness level of 60% (fairly effective criterion). Furthermore, the Paired Sample T-test produced a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05, proving a significant difference in learning outcomes as evidenced by the increase in the students' average score from 50.09 to 79.82. In conclusion, the use of Monopoly Science media is proven to be significantly influential and effective in improving the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning outcomes of elementary school students.

Reading literacy is a fundamental competence that plays an essential role in developing students’ critical thinking skills. Reading ability is not merely understood as the capacity to comprehend texts literally, but also includes the ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information. This study aims to systematically examine the role of reading literacy in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills based on a literature review. The research method employed is library research by reviewing primary sources such as national and international journal articles, academic books, and relevant research reports. The findings indicate that reading literacy significantly contributes to the development of critical thinking skills through the enhancement of analytical abilities, argument evaluation, problem-solving, and reflective thinking. The integration of effective reading literacy strategies in learning processes has been proven to encourage students to become active and critical learners. Therefore, reading literacy plays a strategic role in supporting the achievement of 21st-century educational goals.

This study was motivated by the low level of environmental literacy among elementary school students. This study aims to determine (1) the description of the use of Education cards at the Pampang State Elementary School UPT SPF, (2) the description of students' environmental literacy skills at the Pampang State Elementary School UPT SPF, and (3) the effect of using Education cards on students' environmental literacy skills at the Pampang State Elementary School UPT SPF. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a quasi-experimental design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design type. The research population included all students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Pampang, while the sample was determined using purposive sampling, namely class V(A) as the control class and class V(B) as the experimental class, each consisting of 30 students. Data collection was carried out through observation and tests, while data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of the use of Education cards on students' environmental literacy skills.
