Abstract

Character education is a crucial element in the world of education that aims to shape students' personalities with moral values, ethics, responsibility, and good attitudes. Elementary schools function as an early environment that is very influential in shaping students' characters. Through the educational process, individuals can develop their potential, improve reading skills, and build a strong personality. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in shaping students' characters and improving literacy culture. The method used in this study is a literature review, where the author refers to various sources from scientific journals and books that are relevant to the problems discussed. The results of this study indicate that character education is very important to be implemented in formal, informal, and non-formal education. One concrete example is the literacy culture taught to children from an early age. Through character education, it is hoped that children can grow into better individuals.

Abstract

Learning interest is a crucial factor influencing the effectiveness and success of the learning process, as it affects students’ attention, engagement, and motivation during classroom activities. Preliminary observations at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung indicated that students’ learning interest in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) was relatively low, particularly in attention and interest, due to monotonous teaching methods and limited use of technology. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model supported by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on students’ learning interest in PAI. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a post-test only control group design. The sample was selected through simple random sampling, involving class VII.D as the experimental group and class VII.F as the control group. Data were collected using a non-test questionnaire based on two indicators of learning interest, namely attention and interest. Instrument validity and reliability were tested using Pearson correlation and Cronbach’s Alpha. Prior to hypothesis testing, data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the ICT-based CPS learning model had a statistically significant effect on students’ learning interest, with a significance value of 0.009 (p < 0.05). Students in the experimental group demonstrated higher levels of attention and interest than those in the control group. These findings indicate that the CPS learning model supported by technology-based media is an effective strategy for enhancing students’ learning interest in Islamic Religious Education in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development of students' ability to learn mufrodat through the application of the Tikrar method in learning mufrodat for students in grade VII Mts Negeri 2 Makassar City. The tikrar method is a method of repeating learning materials several times so that they can be more absorbed into students' understanding. This study applies the Classroom Action Research (ACR). Each cycle consists of stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, tests, and documentation. The results of the study show that the application of the tikrar method has made progress in students' understanding of mufrodat learning. This is evidenced by the increase in the average score of students from the pre-cycle to 37.02, the first cycle to 72.38, and the second cycle to 84.47. The percentage of learning completeness has also improved, namely in the pre-cycle by 13.88%, cycle I reached 41.66%, and cycle II reached 86.11%. The steps taken to achieve the progress of students' learning outcomes include repeating the material until it is attached to the student's understanding, training students to be able to memorize, mention and write mufrodat and Arabic words/sentences with good and correct rules and adding variations to the tikrar method. Thus, the tikrar method has proven to be quite effective in the learning outcomes of Arabic mufrodat students. Abstract

In today’s globalized world, reading ability has turned into one of the essential skills that elementary school students must possess. Reading literacy serves as a means to expand knowledge, a foundation for fostering creativity and critical thinking skills in the 21st century. Students who still face challenges in reading skills, if left unaddressed, will impact the quality of human resources in the future. The implementation of story-based learning methods supported by interactive learning media presents an innovative and enjoyable solution to improve reading skills while boosting students' learning motivation. This study aims to examine the extent to which story-based learning methods combined with various learning media can enhance the reading abilities of elementary school students amidst the current wave of globalization. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, which includes the stages of identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis, and is a type of qualitative research. The analysis results show that the application of the storytelling method has a clear positive impact on improving reading literacy skills, reading comprehension, and students' motivation in reading activities. The use of various media such as picture books, digital comics, word cards, flashcards, hand puppets, and interactive digital media has proven to create a fun, communicative, and meaningful learning environment for students. Thus, story-based learning enriched with interactive media can be an effective strategy for improving reading and literacy skills in elementary school students, while also preparing them to face increasingly complex global challenges. Abstract

Parental parenting plays an important role in supporting the cognitive development of early childhood, especially for children aged 4–5 years who are in a critical period of development. This study aims to examine the relationship between parental parenting and the cognitive development of children aged 4–5 years in Negeri Agung Village, Rambang District, Muara Enim Regency. The research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 42 parents, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through parental parenting questionnaires and observations of children’s cognitive development, then analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test and t-test at a 0.05 significance level. The analysis results show a correlation coefficient of 0.665 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a positive and significant relationship between parental parenting and the cognitive development of children aged 4–5 years.

Abstract

Reference services are one of the core services in regional public libraries, playing a strategic role in bridging the public's information needs with available resources. Amidst the development of information technology and the increasing complexity of users' information needs, libraries are required to provide reference services that are not only available conventionally, but also effective, responsive, and adaptive to changes in the information environment. However, in practice, reference services in regional libraries still face various challenges, including a limited number of competent reference librarians, low utilization of digital technology in reference services, and the lack of a structured and sustainable user satisfaction evaluation system. These conditions have the potential to hinder the optimization of libraries' functions as information-based public service institutions. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of reference services at the Archives and Library Service of West Sumatra Province using a quantitative approach. The research method used was a survey, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to users who actively use reference services. The research analysis framework is based on Richard M. Steers' theory of organizational effectiveness, which includes five main indicators: goal achievement, efficiency, integration, adaptation, and productivity. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively to obtain a comprehensive picture of the effectiveness of reference services. The results of the study indicate that reference services at the Archives and Library Service of West Sumatra Province are categorized as quite effective. Indicators of goal achievement and integration show relatively good results, while indicators of efficiency and adaptation still require improvement, particularly in the utilization of information technology and the development of digital-based reference services. This study concludes that increasing the effectiveness of reference services requires strengthening librarian competencies, optimizing the use of information technology, and implementing systematic and continuous service evaluation to improve the quality of public services in the library sector.

Abstract

Aggressive behavior in junior high school students is a common phenomenon and has the potential to hinder adolescents' social and emotional development. Individual responses are influenced by self-control and the ability to regulate emotions adaptively. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-control and emotional regulation with aggressive tendencies in junior high school students. This study was conducted using quantitative methods to examine the relationship between variables. The study participants were 8th-grade students of SMPN 40 Surabaya, with a sample size of 80 students determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. The data collection instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire that met the instrument's eligibility requirements. Data analysis was conducted using the normality assumption test, Pearson correlation, and multiple correlations. The results of the analysis showed a moderate relationship between self-control and aggressive tendencies. In addition, emotional regulation also showed a strong correlation with aggressive tendencies. The results of the multiple correlation analysis indicated that both variables were related to students' levels of aggressive behavior. These findings suggest that strengthening individual capacity to manage emotions contributes to a decrease in aggressive tendencies in adolescents. Therefore, self-control and emotional regulation need to be integrated into student mentoring programs at schools to support the development of more adaptive student behavior.

Abstract

The Effect of Using Mind Mapping Learning Methods on Improving Students' Understanding of Economic Material. Thesis, Economic Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Bone, Academic Year 2025. Supervised by Advisor I, Mrs. Syamsuria, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Advisor II, Mrs. Emmi Azis, S.Pd., M.Pd. This research aims to determine the effect of using the mind mapping learning method on improving students' understanding of economic material. The population in this study consisted of all Grade VII students at SMP Negeri 5 Lappariaja in the 2024/2025 academic year. The sampling technique used was full sampling, whereby all Grade VII students were included as research samples. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The use of the mind mapping method was proven to influence the improvement of students' understanding of economic material. This is evidenced by the results of the Paired Sample t-Test analysis, where the average posttest score (73.50) was higher than the average pretest score (55.00), with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates a significant difference before and after treatment with the mind mapping learning method. Simple linear regression analysis results showed a positive and significant influence between the use of the mind mapping method and student understanding. An R Square value of 0.510 indicates that 51% of the variation in student understanding is influenced by the implementation of the mind mapping method. The significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 reinforces that the relationship is statistically significant. In conclusion, the mind mapping learning method provides a real influence on improving students' understanding of economic material, based on both test results and student perceptions through questionnaires.

Abstract

Innovation in the field of education and learning increasingly involves the use of electronic technology, both in the form of media and methods. To make learning more engaging and improve students’ learning outcomes, it is necessary to develop innovative learning media, specifically the development of Islamic Education (PAI) learning media using iSpring Suite. This study aims to examine the development process, feasibility, and effectiveness of using iSpring Suite-based learning media on the topic of rukhsah in improving students’ PAI learning outcomes. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the Borg and Gall development model. The sample consisted of 26 students from class VII A. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, tests, and interviews, while data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis and t-test analysis to determine differences in learning outcomes before and after the implementation of iSpring Suite-based PAI learning media on the topic of rukhsah. The results of the development process showed that the validation scores were 92.5% from media experts, 95% from material experts, and 90% from learning experts, all of which fall into the “very feasible” category. Student responses yielded a score of 82%, indicating a “very good” category. The normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, non-parametric statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test was applied. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significance value of <0.05, indicating that the hypothesis was accepted and that the iSpring Suite-based learning media on rukhsah is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes. Abstract

The rapid advancement of the digital era has transformed educational practices and requires elementary school teachers to possess adequate digital literacy skills. Digital literacy is essential in supporting effective and innovative learning and in enhancing higher-order thinking skills, particularly critical and creative thinking, which contribute to teaching performance. This study aims to examine the effect of digital literacy on teachers’ critical and creative thinking abilities and its implications for teaching performance among elementary school teachers. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The participants were 185 elementary school teachers in Jombang District, Cilegon City, Indonesia. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with a Partial Least Square (PLS) approach using SmartPLS 4. The analysis involved testing the validity, reliability, and structural relationships among the research variables. The results indicate that digital literacy has a positive and significant effect on teachers’ critical and creative thinking abilities. Moreover, digital literacy directly and significantly influences teaching performance. Both critical thinking and creative thinking abilities also show significant positive effects on teaching performance. These findings suggest that digital literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing higher-order thinking skills, which in turn improves teachers’ instructional performance. In conclusion, strengthening teachers digital literacy is essential for improving teaching quality in elementary education. Continuous professional development programs focusing on digital competence and higher-order thinking skills are therefore strongly recommended.
