Abstract

Islamic education in the modern era faces multidimensional challenges related to rapid social, cultural, and technological changes. This situation demands a more humanistic, relevant, and character-building educational approach. In this context, Islamic educational institutions have a strategic responsibility to instill the values of faith, noble morals, and social empathy. This study aims to examine the role of exemplary behavior (uswatun hasanah) as the foundation for the implementation of the Love Based Curriculum developed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. This study used a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through a systematic review of books, scientific journal articles, policy documents, and relevant previous research results. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, categorization, thematic interpretation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was tested through triangulation of sources and theories, as well as checking the consistency of arguments. The results show that teacher role models are a determining factor in the successful implementation of the Love Based Curriculum. The integration of good moral values, based on the exemplary behavior of the Prophet Muhammad (uswatun hasanah), can shape the character of students to be religious, humanistic, and empathetic, in line with the vision of developing perfect human beings in Islamic education.

Abstract

The development of competencies among Early Childhood Education (ECE/PAUD) teachers has become a strategic necessity to ensure contextual and sustainable learning quality. One increasingly applied approach is the strengthening of learning communities collaborative spaces in which teachers share practices, engage in joint reflection, and design follow-up actions based on field needs. An effective learning-community model integrates peer learning (practice sharing), mentoring/coaching, small-scale classroom action research, and the use of digital platforms for documentation and learning resources. Empirical findings show that teacher engagement within learning communities has a significant impact on improving pedagogical competencies as well as the ability to design and implement instruction. Recommended practical strategies include:(1) routine meetings centered on real instructional problems (problem-centered meetings) so that discussions directly lead to teaching solutions,(2) peer observation and structured feedback to accelerate the transfer of effective practices,(3) focused mentoring by facilitators/mentors during the design and implementation phases of learning outcomes (including literacy/STEAM content in early childhood education),(4) the use of digital platforms (e.g., the Merdeka Mengajar Platform) to archive lesson plans, assessment rubrics, and shared modules, thereby improving crosslocation collaboration; and (5) continuous evaluation mechanisms (reflection, monitoring, and follow-up actions) to ensure that changes in practice are sustainable. These strategies have been implemented in mentoring programs and proceedings that incorporate digital platforms to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Research and community-service studies demonstrating the effectiveness of learning communities in ECE contexts often use quantitative designs (to test the influence of community participation on teacher competence) and PKM/implementation approaches (to design mentoring interventions and evaluate their outcomes). These findings consistently indicate an increase in teachers’ pedagogical abilities after

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the low reading comprehension ability of fifth-grade students in understanding explanatory texts. The research aimed to examine the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model assisted by Mind Mapping media on students’ reading comprehension skills. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design employing one-group pretest–posttest was used. The participants consisted of 19 fifth-grade students of SDN 12/I Terusan in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected using an objective multiple-choice test that had been validated and tested for reliability prior to implementation. The data analysis involved descriptive statistics, normality testing using the Shapiro–Wilk test, and hypothesis testing through a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the pretest and posttest data were normally distributed. The average pretest score was 42.10, indicating low reading comprehension ability, while the average posttest score increased to 76.14 after the implementation of the CIRC model assisted by Mind Mapping. The paired sample t-test results indicated a significance value of 0.000, which was lower than the significance level of 0.05, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. These findings demonstrate that the implementation of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model assisted by Mind Mapping media has a significant positive effect on improving students’ reading comprehension of explanatory texts. The learning model also encouraged active participation and collaborative learning, contributing to a more meaningful reading comprehension process.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of scientific literacy among elementary students and the limited use of interactive and contextual learning media, as reflected in the 2022 results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The topic of energy in science learning remains abstract and insufficiently connected to students’ real-life experiences. This study aimed to develop a valid, practical, and effective interactive illustrated e-book based on Balinese traditional culinary local wisdom to improve third-grade students’ scientific literacy. The research employed a Research and Development method using the ADDIE model. The subjects were 31 third-grade students of SD Negeri 4 Panji. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, and a scientific literacy test using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results indicated that the e-book was very valid, highly practical (teacher 98.3%; students 98.88%), and effective with a significance value of <0.001. The findings imply stronger and improved scientific literacy for students.

Abstract

Civic Education (CE) is a strategic instrument within the national education system that plays a crucial role in shaping the character and personality of students in the school environment. This literature study aims to analyze the urgency and contribution of Civic Education as a moral foundation for the younger generation, particularly in facing the challenges of moral degradation and disruption in the digital era. The results of the study indicate that Civic Education functions not only as a transfer of knowledge regarding statehood but also as a means of internalizing the noble values of Pancasila, discipline, tolerance, and social responsibility. Effective implementation of Civic Education in schools is capable of transforming student behavior to be more democratic and possess high integrity. Amidst the dynamics of the times, Civic Education acts as an ethical filter that equips Generation Z with digital citizenship literacy to mitigate the negative impacts of information technology. The success of this character building is highly influenced by innovative learning methods, teacher role modeling, and the creation of a school ecosystem that supports the consistent practice of national values. Overall, strengthening civic education in schools is a fundamental investment in producing citizens who are intellectually intelligent and possess noble character.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low reading interest of students, especially at SDN Bancong. This low reading interest of students is caused by limited literacy support facilities and the lack of comfortable space for students to read. This research aims to improve students' reading literacy skills, to optimize the function of the reading garden as a center for school literacy activities, and to encourage students to use their free time productively. This research also aims to describe the implementation of the work program for the provision of a reading garden as an effort to improve the literacy culture of students at SDN Bancong. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a participatory approach. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of activities. The program stages include observation, planning, coordination with the school, grouping books according to type, preparing tools and materials for the design of the reading garden, decorating the reading garden, inaugurating the reading garden, and activating the reading garden through routine literacy activities. The results of the study indicate that the provision of a Reading Garden at SDN Bancong has succeeded in increasing students' enthusiasm for reading, which can be seen from the increase in the frequency of student visits to the reading garden during break time. Furthermore, creating a comfortable and educational learning environment has been shown to transform students' perceptions of reading as a pleasurable activity. The conclusion of this study is that creatively managed Reading Gardens effectively stimulate the development of a culture of literacy from an early age in elementary schools.
