Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that students still find difficulties in solving word problems involving whole numbers. Based on the results of the Mathematics Daily Test 2 (UH-2) in grade III of SD Negeri 55/I Sridadi, out of 27 students, 13 students (48.1%) obtained scores below the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 68. These results indicate that almost half of the students have not been able to solve word problems well. This study aims to describe the types of student errors and determine the most dominant error stages based on Newman's Error Analysis (NEA). The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year with a quantitative descriptive approach using a survey method. The research subjects were 23 grade III students. Primary data were obtained through written tests consisting of two tests, while secondary data were in the form of teacher interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that in the first test (addition and subtraction), the percentage of errors was reading 21.74%, comprehension 34.78%, transformation 30.43%, process skill 78.26%, and encoding 78.26%, respectively. In the second test (multiplication and division), the percentage of errors was reading 4.35%, comprehension 47.83%, transformation 47.83%, process skill 65.22%, and encoding 60.87%. The most dominant error stage in both tests was process skill error. These findings indicate that students still have difficulty in carrying out calculation procedures correctly, even though some have been able to read and understand the questions quite well.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Google Earth based Discovery Learning model on sixth-grade elementary school students’ understanding of the concept of Indonesia’s geographic conditions. The background of this research is based on the fact that geography learning is still predominantly theoretical and provides limited contextual learning experiences, causing students to often have difficulty understanding abstract concepts. The use of Google Earth in the Discovery Learning model is expected to present geographic objects and phenomena visually, interactively, and engagingly, thereby improving students’ conceptual understanding. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the pretest–posttest control group type. The research instrument was a concept understanding test that had been validated by experts. The data were analyzed using tests of normality, homogeneity, and a t-test. The results of the independent samples t-test analysis showed a significance value (2-tailed) of < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. The average improvement in conceptual understanding of students in the experimental class reached 73.55%, which was higher than that of the control class. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of Google Earth–based Discovery Learning is effective as a geographical learning innovation to improve elementary school students’ conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of elementary school students, particularly second-grade students at SDN 3 Buaran. Students still experienced difficulties in understanding the content of reading texts and answering questions based on the texts they read. This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the “Who Am I” word-guessing game on students’ reading comprehension skills. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The population as well as the sample consisted of all second-grade students of SDN 3 Buaran in the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 19 students. Data were collected using pretest and posttest assessments. The research instruments were validated through expert judgment. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and hypothesis testing with a paired sample t-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. This was evidenced by a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-value of -9.273. The average improvement in learning outcomes was categorized as high. Therefore, the implementation of the “Who Am I” word-guessing game is effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of second-grade students at SDN 3 Buaran.

Abstract

This study investigates the efforts of Islamic Education teachers in fostering students’ honesty and tolerance at Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 11 Kota Jambi. The problem addressed in this research is the persistence of dishonest behaviors and limited tolerance among students in daily school life, indicating that character education has not been optimally implemented. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of teachers’ practices, the obstacles encountered, and the strategies employed to strengthen students’ honest and tolerant attitudes. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Islamic Education teachers, classroom and school observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings show that Islamic Education teachers play a central role in cultivating honesty and tolerance through the integration of character values into learning materials, role modeling, habituation activities, and dialogical learning strategies. However, several obstacles were identified, including students’ diverse backgrounds, limited parental involvement, and inconsistent reinforcement of school rules. To address these challenges, teachers strengthen collaboration with school stakeholders and parents, improve classroom management, and continuously reinforce positive behaviors through counseling and reflective activities. Overall, the study concludes that consistent pedagogical practices, exemplary conduct, and collaborative efforts are essential to effectively develop students’ honesty and tolerance in the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the use of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projector learning media in increasing students’ learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education subjects at State Junior High School 10 Merangin. The main problem of this study is the low level of students’ participation, attention, and seriousness during the learning process, which indicates the need for more innovative and engaging learning media. This research employed a qualitative approach using field research design. Data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers and students of class VIII B, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of LCD projector-based learning. The findings reveal that the use of LCD projectors through videos, PowerPoint presentations, and visual images increases students’ interest, attention, and learning focus. Visual and audiovisual presentations make the learning process more engaging, interactive, and less monotonous, thus helping students to understand learning materials more easily. Students showed higher enthusiasm, were more active in classroom discussions, and demonstrated stronger motivation to participate in learning activities. Supporting factors include the availability of facilities, teachers’ competence, and school support, while inhibiting factors consist of electricity interruptions, inadequate classroom lighting, and limited equipment. Overall, the use of LCD projectors has a positive impact on students’ learning motivation, although several technical constraints still need to be addressed

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in teaching writing skills of observational report texts for grade X students of SMAN 20 Pangkep, to determine students' and teachers' perceptions of its implementation, and to identify obstacles that arise during the learning process. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PjBL takes place through six stages: determining basic questions, project planning, scheduling, monitoring, testing results, and reflection. The teacher acts as a facilitator who helps students work collaboratively to compile project-based observational report texts. Students show enthusiasm, creativity, and improved writing skills through direct observation activities, data processing, and report preparation. Teachers' and students' perceptions of PjBL are very positive because this model helps improve understanding of text structure, encourages collaboration, and makes learning more contextual. Obstacles found include students' difficulties in constructing coherent sentences, organizing observational data, and time constraints. Overall, PjBL is effectively implemented in teaching writing observational report texts because it is able to increase student engagement and literacy skills.

Abstract

The implementation of culture-based literacy in elementary school students is an essential strategy to improve the quality of learning while instilling local wisdom values from an early age. Literacy is not only understood as the ability to read and write but also includes skills in understanding, interpreting, and connecting information with everyday life contexts. By integrating local culture into literacy learning, children can more easily comprehend the material because it relates to their daily experiences. In addition, culture-based literacy fosters a sense of pride, identity, and appreciation for the traditions they inherit. The effectiveness of this approach is reflected in the increased reading interest, critical thinking skills, and creativity of students in expressing ideas. Other benefits include creating a fun, interactive, and socially relevant learning environment. The implementation of this program also supports cultural preservation while equipping children with adaptive literacy skills in line with the demands of the modern era. Thus, culture-based literacy can serve as a strong foundation for building a generation that is intelligent, has strong character, and remains rooted in the cultural values of the nation

Abstract

The ability to recognize Arabic letters (Hijaiyah) is a fundamental skill that is crucial for early childhood as an initial stage in reading the Qur’an, as well as supporting their language and cognitive development. However, observations at PAUD Al Ikhwan Seri Bandung, Ogan Ilir, showed that the ability of children aged 5-6 years to recognize Hijaiyah letters is still relatively low. This condition is caused by the limited and less engaging learning media, which easily makes children feel bored. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to determine: (1) the initial ability of children to recognize Hijaiyah letters before using the Smart Little Board, (2) the children’s ability after the implementation of the Smart Little Board, and (3) the extent to which this media influences the improvement of Hijaiyah letter recognition in children aged 5-6 years at PAUD Al Ikhwan Seri Bandung, Ogan Ilir. This research used a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study involved 15 children in group B1. Data were collected through tests and observations, then analyzed using validity and reliability tests, normality and homogeneity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using the Paired Samples T-Test. The results of the study showed an improvement in children’s ability to recognize Hijaiyah letters after using the Smart Little Board. The improvement was evident from the comparison between pretest and posttest scores. The hypothesis test showed a significance value (2-tailed) = 0.000, meaning 0.000 < 0.05, so H₀ was rejected and Hₐ accepted. This confirms that the use of the Smart Little Board has a significant effect on the ability of children aged 5-6 years at PAUD Al Ikhwan Seri Bandung, Ogan Ilir to recognize Hijaiyah letters.

Abstract

Nurwakiah. The Leadership Strategies of the School Principal in Improving the Quality of Learning at SMP Negeri 1 Tinambung (supervisedby Dr. H. Ahmad Hakim, MA and Dr. H. M. Akil, MH) Learning quality at SMP Negeri 1 Tinambung in Polewali Mandar Regency still shows significant disparities, evident in variations in student learning outcomes, difficulties faced by some teachers in implementing innovative teaching methods tailored to students’ characteristics, and supervision and guidance of teachers that have not been fully optimized. The research aims to: (1) To describe the school principal’s leadership strategies in improving learning quality at SMP 1 Tinambung. (2) To analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of the school principal’s leadership strategies. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the principal implements strategies including systematic teacher academic supervision, fostering a school culture that is religious, disciplined, and participatory, and optimizing learning management through curriculum development, provision of facilities, and enhancement of learning evaluation quality. These strategies are supported by teacher commitment, collaboration among school members, and community support, while limited facilities, variations in teachers’ abilities, and differences in student characteristics act as inhibiting factors. In conclusion, well-planned, participatory, and consistent leadership strategies directly contribute to sustainably improving learning quality at SMP Negeri 1 Tinambung.

Abstract

Veronika Idelsi Mumur, 2025: Effectiveness of Using C++ Applications on Mobile Phones and Computers in Improving Basic Programming Skills of 10th-grade Students at SMAK Citra Bangsa Mandiri Kupang. Informatics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Citra Bangsa University, Kupang. Supervisors: Mr. John Einstein, S.Kom., M.CS., and Ms. Diana Y.A. Fallo, S.Kom., M.T. This study used a quantitative method with an experimental design (Experimental Class and Control Class). The experimental class (XC) received treatment using the Programiz C++ application on a mobile phone, while the control class (XD) used the Dev C++ application on a computer. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments. Data analysis used an Independent Sample T-Test to determine the difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results showed a significant difference in average learning outcomes between the group using mobile phones and the group using computers, with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.004 (p < 0.05). The average posttest score for the experimental class (mobile phones) was 85.75, significantly higher than the control class (computers), which had an average of 75.25. This improvement indicates that using the Programiz C++ application on mobile phones is more effective than using Dev C++ on computers.
