Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of differentiated instruction for students with special needs in an inclusive elementary school, specifically at SD Swasta YP HKBP Pematangsiantar. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design to obtain an in-depth understanding of how differentiated instruction is applied in real classroom settings. The research participants included the school principal, classroom teachers, special assistant teachers, and students with special needs as observation subjects. Data were collected through participatory observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that differentiated instruction was implemented through adaptations in content, process, product, and assessment. Teachers designed adaptive lesson plans with tiered learning objectives, simplified worksheets, scaffolding strategies, and flexible learning time for students with special needs. Collaboration between classroom teachers and special assistant teachers played a significant role in supporting effective implementation. Individualized approaches and motivational reinforcement also contributed to improving students’ participation and self-confidence. However, several challenges were identified, including limited professional training, administrative workload, and teacher–student ratio. The study concludes that differentiated instruction serves as an effective pedagogical strategy in promoting inclusive education that is responsive to student diversity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of developing disciplined character through shared mealtime activities among children aged 5–6 years at RA Perwanida 2 Palembang. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design to obtain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of discipline habituation at school. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers and parents, and documentation analysis of the activities. Informants were selected purposively based on their direct involvement in the shared mealtime program. Data analysis was conducted inductively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Source and method triangulation were applied to ensure the credibility and validity of the findings. The results indicate that the cultivation of disciplined character during shared mealtime has been implemented quite well through stages such as preparation before eating, compliance with mealtime rules, orderly use of eating utensils, appropriate behavior during meals, independence and responsibility, environmental awareness, time discipline, as well as religious and social attitudes. Supporting factors include teacher role modeling, consistent habituation, clear regulations, parental support, and a positive approach, while inhibiting factors include differences in rules at home and variations in children’s character and emotional conditions. These findings affirm that routine activities designed pedagogically can serve as an effective strategy in early childhood character education and provide conceptual contributions and practical implications for curriculum development in early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a key factor in determining the success of educational implementation, influenced by organizational and individual psychological factors. Organizational support and compensation are considered external factors that shape teachers’ working conditions, while job satisfaction and work engagement reflect internal psychological conditions that affect the quality of teachers’ professional duties. This study aims to analyze the roles of job satisfaction and work engagement in mediating the effects of organizational support and compensation on elementary school teachers’ performance. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The research population consisted of 4,239 public elementary school teachers in Kendal Regency, with a sample of 376 teachers selected using the Slovin formula through random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the assistance of AMOS version 26. The results show that organizational support has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, while compensation does not have a significant direct effect. Work engagement also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Mediation analysis indicates that work engagement mediates the effects of organizational support and compensation on teacher performance. Moreover, job satisfaction and work engagement sequentially mediate the effect of organizational support on teacher performance partially, and fully mediate the effect of compensation on teacher performance. This study highlights that improving teacher performance requires strengthening organizational support, implementing fair compensation systems, and creating a conducive work environment that enhances teachers’ job satisfaction and work engagement sustainably.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of animated videos as a learning medium for elementary school students through literature analysis of related scientific journals. The aim is to examine the impact of animated videos on cognitive, social-emotional, creativity, and learning interest development. The results of the analysis show the positive potential of animated videos in improving students' understanding and interest in learning by simplifying complex materials and increasing motivation and active participation. Animated videos have proven effective in making learning more interesting and easier to understand. However, the study also identified limitations, namely that most of the studies reviewed only focused on the cognitive aspect, reducing a comprehensive understanding of its impact on other aspects of development. Further research is needed to explore the long-term impact of animated videos on all aspects of child development in a comprehensive and balanced manner. Futuristic studies need to consider other factors that may influence the effectiveness of animated videos as a learning medium, as well as consider individual differences in students in responding to this learning medium. In conclusion, although animated videos are promising, further research is needed to ensure their effective and optimal use in supporting students' holistic development.
