This study aims to describe the effect of the Experiential Learning model assisted by the TikTok application on the ability to write anecdote texts among Grade X students at SMK Santo Paulus Medan. The methodology used in this study is a quantitative research approach. The study population consisted of all Grade X students at SMK Santo Paulus Medan, totaling 31 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, in which Class X TKJ with 31 students was selected as the research sample. The instrument used was a subjective test in the form of an essay. After the treatment was administered, the mean pretest score was 64.84 with a standard deviation of 9.36, and the mean posttest score was 77.4 with a standard deviation of 8.21. The prerequisite tests indicated that the sample was normally distributed and homogeneous. A paired sample t-test was then conducted at a significance level of (α = 0.05). The results yielded a t-count of 5.66 and a t-table value of 2.000 (df = 60). Abstract

Muh. Shadiq Al Sabri. The Education and Development System of Islamic Boarding School in Forming Students’ Independence at Pondok Pesantren Darul Aman Gombara Makassar (supervised by Dr. H. M. Hasibuddin Mahmud, SS., MA. and Dr. H. Akhmad Bazith, Lc., MA). Islamic education is one of the most essential aspects in the life of Muslims. In this context, students’ independence is a crucial element that cannot be overlooked. It plays an import ant role in shaping strong and self-reliant character, as well as preparing students to become resilient leaders in the future. This study aims to: (1) identify the educational system in forming students’ independence at Pondok Pesantren Darul Aman Gombara Makassar; and (2) examine the development system in forming students’ independence at the same institution. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the system implemented at Darul Aman Gombara Islamic Boarding School in Makassar in fostering students’ independence is carried out through integrated stages of planning, implementation, guidance and habituation, as well as evaluation. In addition, the development system through student organizations, da'wah programs and speech training, as well as extracurricular activities, further strengthens students’ independence, particularly in terms of discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence. However, there are still some students who are less compliant and less active; therefore, guidance and supervision need to be improved so that students’ independence can be developed more optimally and evenly. The conclusion of this study shows that the educational and developmental system implemented at Darul Aman Gombara Islamic Boarding School in Makassar is fairly effective in fostering students’ independence through integrated implementation in daily life. This system is able to develop discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence, although there are still some students who are less compliant and less active, thus requiring further guidance.

Abstract

This study examined the translation strategies used by second-grade students of SMA Swasta Gajah Mada Medan in translating exposition texts from English into Indonesian. The research was based on Baker (2018), which provides a framework for addressing non-equivalence at the lexical and semantic levels. Exposition texts were selected because they present complex vocabulary and abstract concepts that require strategic translation decisions. A qualitative descriptive method was employed. The data were collected from students’ translation tasks and interviews. The translation results were analyzed using Baker’s (2018) translation strategy framework, and the interviews were used to identify students’ reasons for selecting particular strategies. The results showed that students used a variety of translation strategies, with paraphrasing (24.40%) and loan words (23.17%) being the most dominant. Paraphrasing was preferred by 30% of the students because it allowed them to restate English expressions in clearer and more familiar Indonesian forms. Meanwhile, 20% of the students used loan words because several English terms were already common and easily recognized in Indonesian, allowing them to maintain accuracy when no suitable equivalent was available. The discussion indicates that these dominant strategies were effective in helping students address non-equivalence and produce translations that were clearer, more natural, and more accurate. The findings also suggest that students tended to choose strategies that balanced meaning preservation and target-language acceptability.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is a strategic policy of the Indonesian government aimed at improving the quality of human resources by fulfilling the nutritional needs of vulnerable groups such as toddlers, breastfeeding mothers, and especially for students. This study aims to analyze the multidimensional impact of the MBG on the quality of education and the local economy through a literature review approach. The method used was a systematic literature review of relevant national and international articles. Data were collected from the databases Google Scholar, Scopus, and SINTA using keywords related to school feeding programs and nutrition and education. The results indicate that the MBG program has a positive impact on improving learning concentration, student attendance, and nutritional status. On the other hand, this program also has an economic impact in the form of opportunities for the UMKM and agricultural sectors. However, the MBG program creates new problems for school canteen operators. Furthermore, several challenges arise in its implementation, such as distribution issues, food security, and inequality in access between regions. This study confirms that the success of the MBG program depends heavily on transparent governance, cross-sector integration, and adaptation to the local context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Guided Note Taking learning strategy in improving student learning outcomes in Social Studies (IPS) at the elementary school level. The study employed a qualitative approach using a classroom action research (CAR) design, conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 19 fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Rappocini in Makassar. Data collection techniques included observation, testing, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Guided Note Taking strategy was able to significantly improve student learning activities and learning outcomes. Teachers’ instructional activities improved from the “adequate” category to “good,” followed by an increase in students’ learning activities, who became more active in note-taking, discussion, and understanding the material. Additionally, students’ learning outcomes improved from the “very low” category in Cycle I to the “very high” category in Cycle II, with the majority of students achieving the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM). These findings indicate that the Guided Note Taking strategy is effective in improving the quality of the social studies learning process and outcomes. This study contributes to the development of learning strategies oriented toward active student engagement and provides practical implications for teachers in designing more interactive and effective learning experiences. Keywords: Guided Note Taking, learning outcomes, social studies learning, elementary school, classroom action research
