Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the taklim council as a means of women's empowerment in the Villa Karawangi Housing area. The taklim council is not only used as a medium for religious learning, but also serves as a space to improve women's social, economic, and spiritual abilities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a field study method. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the chairman of the taklim council, members, and activity managers. The results of the study show that the taklim council in Villa Karawangi Housing makes a considerable contribution to women's empowerment efforts, especially in increasing religious understanding, strengthening social relations, and encouraging independence through various productive economic activities. In addition, the taklim assembly is also a forum for women to develop their potential and actively participate in the social life of the community. There are seven taklim assemblies in Villa Karawangi Housing that routinely hold lectures, trainings, and various empowerment programs involving women from various backgrounds. Therefore, the taklim assembly can be seen as having an important role as a means of women's empowerment based on Islamic values. Keywords: taklim assembly, women's empowerment, religious education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Learning Starts with a Question (LSQ) learning model on the narrative speaking skills of fourth-grade students at Muhammadiyah Jongaya Elementary School. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design using a one-group pretest-posttest. The sample consisted of all 23 fourth-grade students. Data collection was conducted through narrative speaking skills tests administered before and after the treatment. The results showed an increase in students' narrative speaking skills after the LSQ model was implemented. The average pretest score of 56.25 increased to 82.25 in the posttest. This improvement indicates that the LSQ model is able to encourage students to be more active, confident in speaking, and able to construct stories coherently and systematically. Furthermore, the results of the hypothesis test indicate a significant effect of the LSQ learning model on students' narrative speaking skills.

Abstract

Reading comprehension skills of elementary school students in Indonesia are still relatively low, as indicated by the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which remain below the international average. This condition highlights the need for effective instructional strategies to improve students’ reading comprehension. This study aims to analyze and compare the effectiveness of various instructional strategies in enhancing reading comprehension skills among elementary school students. The method used in this study is a literature review by examining relevant scholarly sources, including journals, books, and previous research findings. The results show that the SQ3R strategy is effective in developing systematic comprehension, Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) improves understanding through collaborative learning, mind mapping facilitates the organization of information visually, and Problem Based Learning (PBL) enhances critical thinking through problem-solving activities. Each strategy has its own strengths and limitations; therefore, its implementation should be adjusted to students’ characteristics and learning objectives. It is recommended that teachers combine various instructional strategies and utilize diverse learning media to optimize students’ reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajaran digital terhadap kemampuan literasi spasial siswa dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) di SD Islam Al Azhar 4 Kebayoran Lama. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen semu (quasi-experimental design) dalam bentuk nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan media pembelajaran digital dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan media pembelajaran poster. Data dianalisis menggunakan perhitungan indeks N-Gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan siswa serta uji Mann-Whitney U untuk menguji perbedaan peningkatan antara kedua kelompok. Hasil penelitian melalui uji Mann-Whitney U terhadap nilai N-Gain memperoleh nilai signifikansi (Asymp. 2-tailed) sebesar 0,029 (< 0,05). Hasil perhitungan N-Gain menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 0,17, sedangkan kelas kontrol memperoleh rata-rata sebesar -0,19. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran digital terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi spasial siswa pada pembelajaran IPAS di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the relatively low student learning outcomes in understanding biographical texts, which were influenced by the limited use of interactive learning media and the dominance of conventional teaching methods. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of using Bandicam media integrated with a meaningful learning approach on students’ learning outcomes in biographical text material. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using the One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 18 students from class X.3 at MA Syekh Yusuf, Gowa Regency. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments, as well as observations of student activities during the learning process. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, including the paired sample t-test and N-Gain analysis. The findings revealed an improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of Bandicam-based meaningful learning, as indicated by higher posttest scores compared to pretest scores. Furthermore, the statistical test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between students’ performance before and after the treatment. In addition, the N-Gain results demonstrated that the improvement fell into the moderate to high category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Bandicam media combined with a meaningful learning approach has a significant effect on enhancing students’ learning outcomes in biographical text material.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of gadget use on children’s emotional regulation and overall development in the digital era. The increasing accessibility of digital media has led to higher exposure among children, raising concerns about its influence on their emotional and social development. This study aims to analyze previous research findings related to the effects of gadget use on children’s emotional regulation and development. A qualitative approach was employed using a literature review method by examining scientific articles from national and international journals obtained through databases such as Google Scholar, Garuda, and SINTA. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns, relationships, and key findings. The results show that excessive gadget use has a negative impact on children’s emotional regulation, including difficulties in controlling emotions, reduced empathy, and limited social interaction. High screen exposure also affects children’s concentration and emotional stability. However, proper parental supervision, time limitations, and the use of educational digital content can help reduce these negative effects. Therefore, a balanced use of digital media accompanied by direct social interaction is essential to support optimal child development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Show and Tell method on the speaking skills of second-grade students at SDN 183 Rabu, Enrekang Regency. This research employed a quantitative experimental approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 10 students. Data were collected through speaking performance tests and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ speaking skills after the implementation of the Show and Tell method. In the pretest, most students were in the low and moderate categories, while in the posttest all students reached the high and very high categories. This indicates that the Show and Tell method has a significant positive effect on improving students’ speaking skills. Therefore, this method can be used as an effective and engaging learning strategy in elementary school language learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the unavailability of digital-based interactive learning media for IPAS learning in Grade IV Elementary School, Cluster 1, Baso District, Agam Regency. This study aimed to produce Articulate Storyline 3-based interactive learning media on Cultural Diversity and Local Wisdom material that is valid, practical, and effective. This R&D study used the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The results showed that the media obtained an average validity percentage of 94.7% (very valid) based on material experts (87.5%), media experts (96.7%), and language experts (100%). Teacher practicality reached 97.5% at SDN 20 Tabek Panjang and 100% at SDN 01 Baringin Anam, while student practicality reached 97.5% and 97.2% respectively (all very practical). Learning outcomes increased significantly from 67% to 87% at SDN 20 Tabek Panjang (7 students, 100% mastery) and from 71.8% to 89.1% at SDN 01 Baringin Anam (22 students, 100% mastery). Thus, the developed media is declared valid, practical, and effective for IPAS learning in Grade IV Elementary School.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are a fundamental aspect of mathematics learning; however, in reality, elementary school students’ proficiency in this area remains relatively low due to teaching approaches that are still teacher-centered. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on the mathematical communication skills of elementary school students based on the findings of previous research. The research methodology employed was a literature review, examining 10 scientific articles indexed in SINTA 1–4 and Scopus from 2020 to 2026. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods through a series of stages involving organization, grouping, comparison, and synthesis of findings. The research results indicate that the RME approach consistently yields a significant positive impact on improving students’ mathematical communication skills. This improvement is evident in students’ ability to convey ideas, use mathematical representations, and connect concepts to real-life contexts. However, several variables influence RME performance; students with moderate to high initial cognitive abilities achieve greater improvement. Furthermore, the success of RME heavily depends on collaborative activities and adequate learning media support, such as RME-based e-modules or worksheets. In conclusion, RME is an effective strategy for improving mathematical communication, but its implementation must be tailored to student characteristics and supported by relevant media.

Abstract

Observations carried out in Class 1 at Bakalrejo 2 State Primary School indicate that the teaching methods employed still tend to lack variety. The existing teaching is limited to the use of learning media, which has an impact on the low learning outcomes and character development of students. One solution to overcome this is to utilise Canva learning media. The aim of this study is to develop, test the feasibility of, and assess the effectiveness of Canva learning media on the learning outcomes and character of students in Class 1 of Bakalrejo 2 State Primary School, in line with the demands of the times. This study employed a research and development (R&D) methodology using the Borg and Gall model. Based on the research findings, the implementation of Canva media achieved a feasibility percentage of 95% and 90% following evaluation by subject matter and media experts. According to the effectiveness test using the t-test, significant values of 0.001 and 0.000 were obtained on the small and large scales, respectively. Meanwhile, the N-Gain calculation yielded a figure of 0.7737 in the small-scale trial and 0.7683 in the large-scale trial, both falling into the ‘high’ category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of Canva is effective in enhancing both academic achievement and moral character among students in the subject of Pancasila Education, particularly regarding the topic of rules within the home.
